I think they're just avoiding the inevitable tumblr social justice warrior feminist outlash. It's for the best, trust me. We don't need to see college campus protests about how "ESO promotes r-ape culture"

I think people are a bit confused about the whole "King of R a p e"-thing. Surely Bethesda didn't mean it in the sense of violating females... but rather by it's older meaning, to take something that does not belong to you by force... as in someone's soul for instance.
Yes he is an rapist,But he is not only violating females.
Ok, so he's an actual rapist then. Wow, well... that's odd. I mean, a Daedric Prince r a p i ng...people/animals.
Oh well, you live, you learn...
America truly is a sick society. Killing people is OK, but any bad language, or like in this case, mentioning of r a p e and the crazies come out of the woodwork.
Do you know the story about the first vampire in tamriel?
It's just a title really. Does it really going to affect how you play the game if they don't call him the Prince of [censored]?
I think people understand the meaning of the word and that he isn't just [censored] women, he raqes everyone. But that's not the point most people are making in this thread. Most of us realize that it's just a title and has no effect on our gameplay.

"I joined my grandmother's coven, worshippers of http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Molag_Bal, the Schemer Princess. Blackmail, extortion, and bribery are as much the weapons of the Witches of Molag Bal as is dark magic."
So yes, she could be called the god of schemes, but IMO her 'schemes' should be a wee bit more subtle than giant fricking anchors pulling in the world.
The scheme isn't the dark anchors. The scheme is why did he take our (character) soul and what purpose does he have for it. The Dark Anchors thing is because he just wants to have all of Nirn brought into his realm of Oblivion.
So she is just a wannabe Mehrunes Dagon/generic badguy with a tendency to trick the "chosen one" when she feels like it.
I can't take this premise seriously.
just now watched this and the main thing i took away from it is i think i will hate the main story. to me it makes no sense to have the player be the soulless one. i mean there are going to be millions of soulless ones so it kinda takes a big dump on the "chosen one" idea. i much rather they had come up with a better story that would make sense in an mmo setting
Or, hear me out now, we have no idea what the entire plot of the game is because ZeniMax will not tell us and wants us to hear it for ourselves.
I must add to this. Because you are probably right. Complex driven narrative is many times masked in the promotional material with things that people in general "like" or are used to. Like explosions, epic scenes, fighting, catchy one-liners and so on. Sometimes it works, sometimes it does not and goes horribly wrong (like with Spec Ops: The line - hiding it's true narrative behind a demo and a trailer that everyone dissmised as generic). So if this is the case with ESO I hope they succeed.
this is not every other TES game though. in all previous games it was ok to be the chosen one as you were that, 1 person. in this game you are 1 out of millions who all happen to be the chosen one also? i just think they could of come up with something better thats all. in the end i dont play mmo for the story so i really never expected anything grand from TESO
Yes apparently we are all the soulless one. Great plot for an MMO.
in WoW you or your group were the "chosen" one(s) and it worked out.
at least this gives us a better sense of personal accomplishment
If everyone is special, then no one is really special.
Yes it is a very overused plot device, but honestly how many RPGs out there are you not the 'chosen one'? It's a rhetoric question so I don't want that answered. I know that there are many where you are not, but the 'chosen one' plot has been a staple of RPGs since the beginning.
I'm still going to withhold judgement on this games storyline till I get a chance to actually play it. No one here knows exactly how it is going to pan out.
There is nothing wrong with using overused narrative, when it's done good. If you think about it, there is little to no originality in storytelling these days. Everything was done and a good writter should embrace this and do everything to push the right buttons in the viewer imagination.
Biggest shock to me is how few of you have the imagination to just view every other player as normal people while you're the soulless one.
Or to just accept that there's a large portion of the world's population that has had their soul stripped.
