Looks awesome. Some great art direction, and rousing narration from Loremaster Lawrence, as always.

Yeah, pretty good vid- I'm still mainly looking for gameplay vids or anything that teaches us more about the game but this was a cool little introduction to the main story- and we got to see Coldharbour for the first time in-game as far as I know

Extremely impressive, I loved the daedric ruins, the overall feel and atmosphere, and the graphics. Saw a floating rock in the middle of the air though. suddenly I'm reminded of WoW...

TES had floating rocks before WoW existed:

Yeah, I was afraid of that. The look of Coldharbor was very nice, but as usual for an ES title, the overall plot is very weak. Molag Bal might as well be the King of Self-Fulfilling Prophecies.

On floating 'islands': minimally, 1984, Skyrealms of Jorune. I'm sure someone can find something further back if they tried, however.

Coldharbour looks quite good, BUT ...

Molag Bal is NOT the "God of Schemes". He's the Daedric Prince of domination and enslavement, the King of [censored].

Not only did they make him champion of the undead, now he's also a schemer? That would be closer to Boethiah's sphere.

Really liked the direction they are going with Coldharbour. Really enjoyed some of the places they showed there. Can't wait to get the chance to explore that area.

Also, now we know what the Blue Spriggans are.

This makes me sad.

Molag Bal is the "god of schemes"? You mis-pronounced "king of [censored] and domination". Boethiah is the Prince of Plots.

There's "an ancient prophecy" in the Elder Scrolls that the "soulless one" will stop this threat? For one, the prophesies told by the Elder Scrolls are constant in flux. They only say what may happen (even giving different views to different readers), not what will happen. And second, how can it be the "soulless one" when there's millions of "soulless one"s running around doing it? They realize this is an MMO, not single-player, yeah?

Blame the ESRB, pretty sure they would have to up the rating and thus limit their audience if they called him the Lord of Slavery and [censored]. The themes will still be there but theyr'e simply not going to refer to a game character and [censored] in the same sentence.

Hope you realize that the main story is single player, yeah?

Well, the Elder Scrolls prophecies haven't been much more ambiguous in the previous games, either. If it's foretold, it bascially means your character has to make it happen via playing the game. Or ignore the mainquest and don't, it's up to you. I don't expect ESO to be different in that regard - the mainquest is simply the singleplayer-portion of the game which would have better stayed in a singleplayer game, but oh well, whatever. Not that big a deal should the story actually turn out to be good.

And they wouldn't even have to call him King of [censored]. I just don't see why domination and enslavement aren't enough, I mean, they have the themes and plans almost spot on. Coldharbour looks like described in the lore, Molag Bal's plan involves the enslavement of all mortals and the collection of souls, it all fits quite niceley ... there is absolutely zero reason to throw in another title for him that doesn't do anything to explain or compliment the story, zero.

"Prince of Domination and Enslavement" would work too, if they needed to keep it PG. "God of Scheming" is simply wrong for him. Bal is very direct in what he wants, he doesn't make a habit of scheming. He just takes it.

Shh! That one is special. Make too many floating rocks and the one in Morrowind loses its meaning.

Also, they should totally make the final quest doable by only those that are extremely skilled. If it's a solo only main questline, they could make the final quest either have different levels of difficulty or be altogether really hard. Getting a uber legendary weapon and some cool title saying you were one of the few that finished the quest would bring a whole lot more meaning to there being a million "dragonborns".

Actually the single player games don't go with the "it's a prophecy in the elder scrolls" route. For Skyrim, the Book of the Dragonborn states that they don't know where the prophecy comes from (maybe an ES, maybe the Akaviri, maybe an unattributed tale). Oblivion's prophecy came from Uriel Septim, most likely from the Oversoul of Emperors in the Amulet of Kings. Morrowind's prophecy came from Azura.

It's just a pet-peeve of mine. I'm all for allowing a person to play an MMO without grouping with other people if they want, but it's still an MMO. Why write and design for it as if it was single-player? There are other players you constantly bump into doing the same thing you are, they can at least acknowledge that.

It's like they're going about it backwards. Using MMO standards where they should be taking inspiration from the single player games, and treating it like single player where they should treat it as an MMO.

Looks awesome. Some people aren't happy until they can read the entire game's design documents before playing.

Why is the sky in Coldharbour not "on fire" as it is described? Another "transcription error" I suppose?

Also, I think Lawrence has Molag Bal confused with Boethiah. Molag Bal is the Prince of R A P E (domination and enslavement).

Also I don't like that he keeps saying "the player." I know he wants each individual to feel like the hero, but we all know that every player is going to go through this so we're all as special as each other. As Tyler Durden would say, "you are not a beautiful, unique snowflake."

We're picking apart the lore, not getting excited, get your facts straight. If they said they were bringing dragons back and everyone would be able to fus ro dah, wouldn't you freak out (probably in a negative way)? Getting the lore right is important for many fans, and completely changing the naming and meaning for a daedric prince is a pretty big deal. Think they should have just called him the Prince of Domination, would have been fairly lore friendly + kiddy friendly.

Recolored spriggans and flame atronaches? I hope that they at least pretend that they are something different and give it an explanation instead of just being lazy and reusing assets

His corrupted versions of them? Not hard to explain it at all. Coldharbour is his twisted version of Tamriel as he sees it. So I don't see why it can't be easily explained that the creatures in his realm are twisted also.

Not a Lore guy at all but even I know that according to all descriptions, Coldharbour is pretty much a twisted and corrupted version of Nirn. So it makes perfect sense you would see twisted and mutated versions of creatures.

Bethesda is "lazy and reusing assets" for 20 years now, why should anyone start to bother?
