Just had a horrible date...

Post » Sun May 13, 2012 2:08 pm

Like the title says, I just got home from a terrible date. It was so overly awkward that I almost turned into a penguin.

The guy was nice enough, but he... Was sort of obnoxious, to be honest. He smoked, which is meh, but more importantly I feel that he violated my personal space. I just felt terribly uncomfortable the whole time, and considering we met at 2:30 and didn't part ways until 7... I'm pretty drained emotionally.

So... Any idea how to cheer up and learn from this?

Thanks...

Sorry to hear that man. Was this a first date? If so, then all you can do is learn from the experience and move on - it's not like you've lost anything by at least going on the date.

It was.

Well, there's my time, about 15$ for dinner and a movie, and... Yeah. :/

You're going to have more bad dates than good in this life I'm afraid. :(

At least that was my experience.

Pfff... You should have dropped a few of the classic excuse lines way earlier then that to get away. If it ain't sparking it ain't sparking.

Did you get free food? There's that. I see. There's always the funny story you get out of it.

If you're drained, go to sleep. The other side of sleep is always a little more optimistic.

Wow, I think being a penguin would be quite fun for a bit.

My options have always been: 1) wallow in self-pity for an evening -- it can help to get it out of your system 2) sleep 3) have friends over for a movie night.

There's no way to feel better about a bad date, other than, as I pointed out, the laughs you get from it down the line. I spilled a drink on a first date, and everybody laughed at us... :ermm:  Now I laugh about it.

I think each "kind" of person has a set of markers. The more we interact with the people we know we don't like, the easier it is for us to spot them and avoid them by the flags they throw up.

Also: sorry to hear. It does svck. :(

Next time, stare at him for a few seconds, then start whimpering, then scream and run away.

Works every time.

My favorite part about you posting about relationship related issues is probably how the above occurrence always happens.

Now you know to just leave when you've had enough. Just say, "Hey, look, this was fun, but I have to... go sweep my chimney."

Just watch this a couple times. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nRnNRMmHCFo

Seriously I was in the depths of despair over this math homework I didn't feel like doing a couple hours ago and that video just mellowed me out to heaven and back and now I understand the true meaning of life and stuff. It's pretty great.

I doubt it's that big of a deal, or much of a deal at all, just sounded a bit weird. (Then again, if it actually is, then I wouldn't be the one to know).

I'm not sure I could manage a date. I'm very chatty and engaging, but I need some help from the other person. I can't stand people that never initiate conversations...

Here's the advice my dad told me, move on, find a new person. That worked until I found my perfect girlfriend :P

$15 for dinner and a movie? Damn, it costs that much for just the movie these days. I'd say you're lucky.

...Nice.
It's the "bravo" afterwards that kills me
