How about making a picture in "paint".The effort is much appreciated but it's confusing as hell.Would be so much easier to just look at simple diagram.

Lockpicking, dont know all the names..
Difficulty levels are not needed to try lockpicking, but they make it easier..

So, what does smithing do if you don't take any perks? Are you stuck smithing iron?

The Smithing tree confuses me - Advanced Armours is midway up the Light Armour branch, unexpectedly, and the first perk is Steel Smithing, which is Heavy-specific. I'm surprised they made it so you have to take Elven Smithing before you can get Advanced Armours, but in practice it doesn't make a huge amount of difference - it only means I have to take 1 more perk in Smithing than I was otherwise planning.

EDIT: @Tale: Yeah, I guess you're limited to Tier 1 armour types, which means Fur, Leather, Hide, Iron... maybe a couple of new types like Bronze if reports are to be believed. I don't know how a Smithing skill of 60 is better than a skill of 20, though, apart from unlocking more perks to unlock.

It is only for blocking with a shield though, not using a one-handed weapon and empty offhand, or a two-handed weapon. That's what made me sure I won't be getting that perk, not with my main anyway.

EDIT: How about the potential synergy with Shield Charge (top Block perk) and Critical Charge (near-top One-Handed perk)? I can imagine Shield Charging enemies, knocking them over, and continuing my charge with a Critical Charge double damage strike while they're helpless on the floor...

All in all it looks like perks are going to let us make mega-powerful characters, whatever our style.

And I have been working my ass off to format the text to be more readable.
That page you linked is so much better. ( apparently my googling wasn't good enough :D )

Yeah the smithing tree looks a little bit strange (plate armors in light armor branch? ) but maybe it will work well in game

But still, carrying a shield seems almost worth it for 50% less magic dmg..

Was about to post the same.

Never would have thought that elemental protection would be a) so powerful b ) so cheap to obtain (in terms of required perks and skill).
This seriously makes me wonder if alteration has an "elemental shield" spell that blocks 100% of the incoming magic because if not, then physical shields are CLEARLY better since they can also bash (i.e stagger), disarm etc.

Also, it's worth-noticing that bethesda changed the layout of the block tree. Now I remember that elemental protection was the end perk of one of the two branches of the block skill. Also there was a perk called "riposte" that is nowhere to be found...

Haha, sorry :whistling: mad Google skillz.

As for Advanced Armours... Maybe they put it there because they were set on the skill level requirement, and it wouldn't have fit anywhere else because it's the same skill requirement as Orcish Smithing, and so similar to Arcane Blacksmith's requirement? Either way it's odd, but I'll still definitely get that perk. To be honest I'll probably just go the whole hog and get Glass Smithing too, depending on whether or not I come across much Glass ore/mineral during the game.

EDIT: @tiny lampe: http://i.imgur.com/Vg1Ly.jpg I guess if you max out Mage Armour and Magic Resistance (and I'm guessing at the numbers here) you could end up with protection spells 200% (or more) more effective than normal, plus blocking 30% of ALL spells' effects, not just Fire/Frost/Shock damage. Looks pretty potent to me :) That's in addition to the Atronach, which gives you 30% spell absorption...

It would make more sense to start with advanced armors.
And to have steel as part of the heavy armor line.

So what if light armor line would have only two more (glass and elven)..
You still need the same 100 skill to reach the end of the line.

This is how I thought it would be. It's not the end of the world to lose one perk in Elven Smithing if you want the Advanced Armour one though, I'll definitely still get it.

Kind of annoying that you have to get backstab in order to get deadly aim in the Sneak tree.

Block, alteration, restoration...Block, alteration, restoration...oh boy, there are so many lovely perks everywhere that I'm starting to reconsider my (first) character. Shall he be a blessed knight armed with a shield as I first thought or, rather, shall he become a mage who uses alteration and restoration to protect himself? I feel so overwhelmed with choices, and SO glad to feel like that.

Cool. So you need 50 Light Armour skill to get the "weighs nothing" perk, plus 2 previous perks, whereas you need 70 to get the Heavy Armour version, plus 3 previous ones... Hopefully that'll cheer a few people up.
