Layout of perk trees

Post » Mon May 14, 2012 1:28 pm

Im pretty sure that if you reach the top perk and that perk is connected to another perk below it that you haven't already picked, then your game would have had an error, since you need all perks below and connected to get the perks above.

Really hope that's not the case... I don't want to have to take the Necromancy perks in addition to the Atronach perks that I do want just to get the Twin Souls perk.

Woah the order for recovery is Novice-->Recovery-->Avoid Death? That's kind of awesome.

Yeah, really was expecting to see Recovery connected to the Apprentice perk. Oh well, at least Avoid Death is easy to get to despite its steep skill requirement.

Yeah, but its still kind of cool that I don't have to invest more perks for it.

Also it seems I need summoner for Atromancy.. Well, time to make one final build edit.

I don't think you need to; just check out the conjuration tree. Both Atromancy, and Necromancy tree's lead to the double summon perk.

Yeah, I don't. I pretty much just had a knee jerk reaction to that guy's misinformation.

Yes, you don't have to take both. There are sometimes two paths to some perks and you can take one of those paths.

GAH!!

Stupid perk trees. Why are the perks so outright dependent on each other?

So much for character customization.

Credit for restoration, conjuration, speech goes to SUPO on gamefaq..

Speaking of:

SPEECH

-Haggling x 5: buying and selling prices are 10% better.
-Allure: 10% better prices with the opposite six.
-Merchant: Can sell any type of item to any kind of merchant.
-Investor: Can invest 500 gold with a shopkeeper to increase the available gold permanently.
-Fence: Can barter stolen goods with any merchant you have invested in.
-Master Trader: Every merchant in the world gains 1000 gold for bartering.
-Bribery: Can bribe guards to ignore crimes.
-Persuasion: Persuasion attempts are 30% eassier.
-Intimidation: Intimidation is twice as successful.

Paths:

Haggling->Allure->Merchant->Investor->Fence->Master Trader
Haggling->Bribery->Persuasion->Intimidation

Heh.. Yeah its a bit confusing at first but I kind of like it. Its kind of like a game in itself; though I guess some people don't like that. :P

I dropped speechcraft, my character is a Imperial, his speechcraft will be amazing anyway. I added 1 restoration perk and 4 destruction ones, my character looks good, but I may just be deluded.

Reminds me too much of Diablo II, Torchlight, Titan Quest, etc... but even those games had less restrictive perk trees than this!

And do mages seriously have to take Dual Casting for every one of their schools of magic? Hi! You have to spend more than 10% of your perks just to achieve basic functionality!

Hows this for a build?

Heavy Armour: Juggernaut (5) + Well Fitted (1) + Tower of Strength (1) + Matching Set (1) + Reflect Blows (1) = 9

Smithing: Stee Smithingl (1) + Arcane Blacksmith (1) + Dwarven Smithing (1) + Orcish Smithing (1) + Ebony Smithing (1) + Daedric Smithing (1) + Dragon Armour Smithing (2) = 8

One Handed: Armsman (5) + Bladesman (3) = 8

Archery: Overdraw (5) + Eagle Eye (1) + Powershot (1) + Quick Shot (1) + Bullseye (1) = 9

Restoration: Novice Restoration (1) + Apprentice Restoration (1) + Adept Restoration (1) + Expert Restoration (1) = Master Restoration (1) + Respite (1) = 6

Destruction: Novice Destruction (1) + Apprentice Destruction (1) + Adept Destruction (1) + Expert Destruction (1) = Master Destruction (1) + Augumented Flames (1) + Intense Flames (1) + Augumented Freeze (1) + Deep Freeze (1) = 9

Overall=49

Is this ok, or should I saw a couple of Destruction perks for Restoration ones?

But, if there is no level cap, and we just keep on getting more perks, abit at a slower rate, then I can get everything I need :tes: :celebration:

I've gone off the perk system a little bit if I'm honest as I feel that we should be able to master our chosen specialisation as a pure build (i.e. obtain a third of all perks). I feel they have taken too much away from the skill level's power, and made things into perks that should still be determined by the skill level itself.

The magicka cost of spells is a perfect example of this in my opinion.

That being said, I've still enjoyed tinkering with the perk list to build my mage and I will be able to get most of the perks I'm missing in level 50-70+, it will just take a while.

Re: Conjuration perks. I never even liked summoning atronachs in the first place, I mean who did? Their spells always had gigantic area effects that would fire/frost/shock me just as much as the enemy - this, especially since the enemy would still chase after me after the summoning anyways so I would have 2x damage on me. Also, god help those big bodied atronachs if an enemy decided to run somewhere. It would take all the summoning time I could give for an atronach to locate, run to, and merely begin attacking my enemy (and usually me too) before it disappeared. But worst of all, they cost so much magicka to bring all this chaos into my life. Casting an atronach is like having a child for 30 seconds, in Oblivion.

So dang if half the perks are about them this time around they better be more useful!

EDIT: keep up the good work Randalf
