Magic kill cams got to go!

Post » Tue Jun 12, 2012 3:37 pm

This issue is his "thing" (all he posts on), but no I don't think this will work. If one toggle, why not two.. why not 5... why not 20... everyone would like to toggle something.

oh, bah humbug

Because you don't need 20 toggles. This is only about toggling on or off kill cams. Sure, you could toggle everything, but that's not what this is about. This is just about kill cams. It's one toggle, and it's one toggle that Bethesda knows how to do, but didn't do for this game.

A toggle would take 10 mins, something so simple but would mean a lot to many fans of the game.

Incase you didn't know Beth, lots of us grew out of the mortal kombat fatality gimmicky crap over 10 years ago.

And so it begins... the war for the toggle!
TOGGLE! TOGGLE! TOGGLE! Lol

But, yeah, there really should be a toggle.

It is so funny how people say things like, everyone thinks so. it's 10 to 1 in favor. In real context, 326 people viewed this thread. 26 people posted.
Somehow this is a majority of the millions of people who own this game????
So funny.

Do the petitions really work?

No. Gstaff made it quite clear that there would be no killcam toggle. Then they deleted the sub-forum the statement was posted in so that no one can see all the complaints 1.5 generated. Adding a killcam toggle would be to admit an error.

Actually, It could be a majority. It's probably similar to how surveys are taken. Ask a 1000 random people a question and you can assume the responses are representative of the overall population, given specific criteria and within a plus or minus quantity.

326 people view a given post, and 300 people don't care enough to comment on it. So, you are left with only people who want to have their opinion heard. Judging from the posts above it wouldn't be that unsafe to make a few assumptions.

But then again, 60% of all statistics are made up on the spot and are, in fact, 100% false.

Then what does the patching process for Skyrim admit?

I love them. Nicely done Beth.
When they work, sure.

But even the melee kill-cams sometimes bug, begin an animation but make the enemy escape it and then the enemy kills you instead. If a kill-cam prevents you from -killing- an enemy, then it obviously isn't doing its purpose.

So far I've only ever seen 1 arrow kill-cam and that was 1 feet away from a wolf. A few flame-thrower kill-cams on mudcrabs and such, but that's about it. But if there's bugs like the one the OP gives as an example, then I don't think they've done it quite right.

No need to be selfish. A toggle would make everyone happy, not just you.

Ugh. Are you a project manager without any technical knowledge? Or perhaps you've been one before over a landscape of failed and/or mismanaged projects. What you said ("it's a quick change") is reminiscent of so many bad and incompetent PMs that I've run into over my career. Good one's consult the technical team to find out how difficult the change may be before saying the change would take 10 minutes. There's no telling how embedded that code is an how many iterations need to be wrapped around it. Another armchair developer, at your service.

I seem to recall both. You must have missed all the people complaining about not having a toggle. People have wanted a toggle to for the killcams since the game came out. And then there are people who wanted mage killcams. And then there are people who want only 1st person killcams... The list goes on and on.

Beth, put in the toggle. Earthlinger's petition link clearly shows an overwhelming fan desire for a toggle. Just put it in there.

Then there were people who wanted to actually walk into their television set, perhaps by using Wonkavision, and do battle with the dragons with their own bare hands. When the technology from the Enterprise's holodeck just wasn't available, they went straight to the forums to demand it while stamping holes in the ground with their feet.

Well, I hate to disappoint you, but I'm a consumer just like you are. I don't work for gamesas and I'm certainly glad I don't, when so many people who paid full price for their game and have not only spent hundreds of hours playing their game but also spend time complaining about all the things they hate about it on their message boards.

Mage killcam killed my follower once.

Was burning a bandit with flames, kill cam starts and the bandit dies, I see my follower suddenly walk into the stream and burn to a crisp too while I can't do a thing about it.

Kill cams in general need to go. They belong in call of duty, not TES.

Personally, I love the 3rd-person finishers. A chance to see my badass looking character being badass. :D

And I wouldn't know about it being "call of duty".... last CoD game I played was the first one, years and years ago. And the only other game I've played with finisher animations are the recent Fallout games.

(it does seem like they need to fix the detection routines - if you're getting a "finisher" animation when there's still other enemies around to hit you, it's not working as intended. Ditto with the "finisher" being a miss and not actually killing the target. This also kind of puts a hole in the argument of people defending enemy finishers - when people say "But I could have dodged it with my block / timeslow / whatever perk, but the finisher locked me in place!", they say "it only happens if it was going to be a kill." If the enemy can dodge our finishers, then that can't be true.)
