Magic kill cams got to go!

Post » Tue Jun 12, 2012 3:56 pm

It is just ridiculous! I wouldn't mind it so much if they ONLY appeared when it was an actual kill shot. But what annoys me to no end is they added this feature to allegedly "improve magic" when all it really does is make it worse!

An example, I go to dual-lightning a dear, only to have a kill cam slow time and remove control from my character while the wounded creature continues to run away half way across the world, out of range of an actual kill shot!

If there must be kill shots please create a toggle. I might use them sometimes. But in any case, please please please ONLY activate them if the shot is calculated to actually kill the target in question. It is too much of an unnatural interruption otherwise.

Like a baseball player that pauses to snap an iphone shot of himself mid-flight only to miss the ball he was going to catch!

Happended to me once with an arrow before, it slowed time and followed the arrow as it hit a rock. Kind of funny but I see how it could affect the game.

To be honest i thought Beth did the right thing by by leaving this out in the initial release.
I actually really like them with my warrior but i had a real problem with them kicking in with my mage for all the reasons you highlight.

When taking on multiple enemies in particular with my mage i got into a nice rhythm of what i needed to do to combat them.I found the killcam kicking in broke that rhythm which left me trying to reavaluate what was happening when i 'returned to my body' so to speak.

Irritating and confusing at times and to be honest not really that interesting to watch.

They are fun in 1-on-1 battles. But when I'm ganked by 2 or 3 Falmer and I lose control of my character for a finish move then get killed by the other Falmer because I can't block or cast spells or attack again, then I dislike them greatly.

Kill cams in general need to go. They belong in call of duty, not TES.

EXACTLY! Caster characters are squishy enough as it is! So, how is it fixing the imbalanced magic situation by putting us at a FURTHER disadvantage? At least warrior types have armor. Yes, a mage CAN have armor but typically, they rely more on stealth, mobility, and cunning, all of which are completely ELIMINATED as options while we stand there looking pretty getting 1-shot.

This is essentially removing an entire component to effective mage play, to compensate for their existing options being somewhat underwhelming as it is. So. Lame.

I mean at least give us a Derpy Hooves dance or something if we're just going to sit there watching destiny unfold with no participation on our part whatsoever. Keep things interesting! XD

Or more seriously? Freeze the REST of the damn world as well! FFS!

I would love a toggle too. 3rd person, archer, and magic killcams shouldn't be forced on the player. After all Bethesda said they wanted to keep imershun.

This although I like the first person finishers.

Being stomped by a Giant who is supposed to be dead because the dual cast spell that caused the Killcam (and gave the "dead" Giant time to get closer) did not hit him at all is ridiculous. There should be toggles in the Options to turn off Killcams.

I consider mage to be unplayable because of this. Since that is the only class I am interested in playing, having already experienced Rogue/Archery and Warrior, Bethesda has effectively killed Skyrim for me.

Way to go.

Agreed - I play as an archer, and when I get one of those friggin' things I scream. They really ruin the moment. And of course, prevent you from doing what you want when you want to.... Like target another enemy!

Who did they do this for anyway!?!? I cannot see any benefit whatsoever. Let's not even discuss why we have this, and bugs that still aren't addressed.

How commonly is this happening (no kIll slowmo cams)? Doed this also have to do with perks? (ie i have heard tbe top archery perk is causing enemies to fall over on the killcan before getting hit)

I have been playing a new nightblade for a couple days now and i have never once had a killcam without a kill.

I see the merit of complaining about being stuck in the screen during the animation, we do not take damage during it though, but it is kind of disorienting when it finishes- this has been the case with things like throatcut animations from the beginning BTW, the animations just have about 1-2 second trailers on the end of them where our character is just sitting idle before we regain control.

On 360 u can click the right joystick as if u were switching from 1st to 3rd person and it will go back to actual gameplay... I do that when its not a killshot.

This is just too funny.

We definitely need a Killcam toggle, Fallout 3/New Vegas have them, Skyrim should have them too.

I seem to recall people clamoring for mage killcams (without specifying a must-have toggle)...

Kill cams are obviously broken. The fact that NPC AI can run away while you are stuck in slow mo is just one example of how broken and annoying they are.

This issue is his "thing" (all he posts on), but no I don't think this will work. If one toggle, why not two.. why not 5... why not 20... everyone would like to toggle something.

F3 and FNV had a toggle for kill cams. As the poll suggests, this is not just my issue. 5:1 are in favour of a toggle. But hey, if you dont like choice more power to ya.

I seem to recall both. You must have missed all the people complaining about not having a toggle. People have wanted a toggle to for the killcams since the game came out. And then there are people who wanted mage killcams. And then there are people who want only 1st person killcams... The list goes on and on.

Beth, put in the toggle. Earthlinger's petition link clearly shows an overwhelming fan desire for a toggle. Just put it in there.
