Magic kill cams got to go!

Post » Tue Jun 12, 2012 10:17 pm

How about this, america works on effort and rewards. Here we are showing effort and there bethesda is giving us no rewards. at least we arent just sitting on the couch saying why didnt they make this game better! Another winner!

Assuming this isn't just an already participating member's anonymous troller account, welcome to the forums. I really dig your "winner" catchphrase...

I've gotten the magic cams on not-quite-dead enemies a few times, but I haven't had it cause problems because the time slowing doesn't give them much opportunity to take advantage of it. It just becomes less of a kill-cam and more of a "check out this awesome lightning bolt!" cam. But they are pretty nice, so I don't mind.

and the ones screaming doomsday (or at the very least, toggle) were right, these horrid fatalities will be the death of skyrim. (and to be clear, iv hated these things since we first found out about them, cliched, not very epic in the slightest, apparently pretty glitchy and "boring boring BORING!")

edit to adress something i noticed: there is only 2 toggles needed in skyrim, a hardcre mode (health, markers, other immersion stuff) and (cliched) fatalities on/off

How come it was manageable in fallout? Where there kill moves in previous elder scrolls? Hope you are joking about shout cams. You'll be wanting slow mo jumping next... What I really want is for people to stop complaining about people wanting a toggle. Stick to your own game and don't try to ruin others.

If everything had to be the same as in previous TES games then the series would have died out with Morrowind. I wouldn't have bought Skyrim if it was the same as Oblivion, Morrowind, Daggerfall or Arena.

Bring on the Killcams, I say! I'd love to see my character Fus Ro Dah a bandit off of a mountain! Sure, include a toggle if you want, but really there are more important things, like DLC, bug fixes and more killcams.

And besides, if Skyrim hadn't brought us 'newbies' to the series then there would be no hope of a sixth Elder Scrolls title.

This shouldn't happen, unless you have a mod that changed the kill-cam settings. It won't (or isn't supposed to) do a finishing move unless it's the last enemy around, and only on the killing blow.

It might just be that magic is bugged. Or you're making things up.
This has already been debunked by many players. Isn't supposed to is right. It happens all the same.

Illogical. Hundreds of members of these forums believe Morrowind was the apex of the series.

And thousands outside of the forums believe that Skyrkm is THE greatest game ever made, and hate the slow pace in games such as Morrowind.

Hopefully the optional tab is in 1.6, otherwise magic might be extinct for a couple of months.

I wouldn't doubt it if some of those fans called Morrowind a dumbed down version of Daggerfall.

Outside the forums? How terribly convenient for your argument.

An interesting possibility.

Do what....newbies?.....The series was doing fine before you, it would do fine without you.

Magic kill cams are way to awkward. It just doesn't look cool at all to have this slo-mo of me throwing lightning arcs at my enemy. It just looks tarded. I mean if the magic was cool or something then maybe. Ya know like in Fable, how you could charge spells. Or even Kingdoms of Amular magic is like twenty times cooler than man throws lightning from his fingers. And the kill cams are not necessary for plain boring looking magic.

Skyrim introduced hand equipped spells and marriage, both which were in fable first, both which fail terribly in skyrim, imo. I'm against anything in fable making it into skyrim....biased? yes.

Not what I was trying to state. I was just saying Skyrim doesn't have the fancy magic, so kill cams don't work. It doesn't look cool. Instead my characetr is in a squat position like he's going to take a crap or something while lightning is jumping from his hands. It's weird looking was my point. Not that Skyrim needs Fable magic or that stuff. Just making a case that Skyrim isn't that kind of game and that I don't need magic kill cams.

I agree. Killcams are getting on my nerves alot. On the other hand the magic is varied and def more entertaining then say oblivion was. So I'm happy about that. Could it have been better? Yes. But if anything the master level spells tell me that amazing looks make an impractical spell in skyrim. So Idk where that balance is gonna go.

I'm still not on any master spells. I'm halfway at lvl 30, so yeah.

We want the DB cowl! Oh.. toggle would be okay, as long as it's near effortless for Beth.

1) They don't do ANYTHING. The magic kill cams are -literally- just a different angle on your character. It baffles me that Bethesda proudly showed this off and implemented it in the game when all the developer that made this did was....MOVE THE CAMERA!!! That's literally all he did! Melee finishing moves, your character DOES SOMETHING. He'll perform some move he wouldn't normally perform. Magic kill cams are literally just a different camera angle as your character attacks the exact same way he always has.

2) They miss. A lot. If I had a dime everytime I had the magic kill cam miss, I could've paid for the game. Which is impressive, considering the magic kill cams are fairly new. It's especially frustrating when I'm about to kill that enemy mage before he heals himself, I launch a fireball, it misses and the mage begins to get on his feet again, then I think "ok I still got time for a shot, no worries," and then the kill cam triggers AGAIN and misses AGAIN, just long enough for the enemy mage to heal up.

I've bookmarked that link. I'm going to be using it ALOT on these forums ... Thank you! :D

I'm a newbie. 90% of the people I know IRL who play Skyrim are newbies. If you 'srs RPG gamer vets' didn't have us newbies, then you'd be stuck with the small amount of people who played Arena when it was released and Daggerfall would probably have been your last game. Companies need money, believe it or not.
