Mass Effect Thread #56

Usually i don't mind spoiling game for me in before release, as i enjoy second playtrough more since i know where it is going, but this one has been such a long time coming that i won't do it for this one. Just one question about the ending, a yes or no will suffice, is it "http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/RocksFallEveryoneDies" like NWN 2? :hehe:

....I was gonna try and explain it in a special manner like a PR....but then I realized I would be just as bad as Bioware. So your answerr without a doubt is :

Interesting.

They've been making the Reapers an undefeatable treath with unimaginable numbers, so i never expected a "Evil was defeated, and the hero and her blue girl lived happily ever after" ending ;)

I finally gave up and looked at MISAKA's spoiler... and I'm pleased. Phew. I was expecting something far more stupid, and I agree with ToJKa's post above mine.

From what I've heard about the 360 version, Disk 1 is mainly main quest missions, Disk 2 is Sidequests, both games are 7.5GB's to install. That means it's almost going to be a half an hour before I could even begin playing ME3.

Bioware has already said they cut out a number of dialogue choices for the demo. They had to keep it to 2gb somehow.

Not so, I've heard Streams where 90% of the missions is auto dialoge. That to me is a huge problem, can't wait to see the crapstorm on Wednesday/Thursday when Fans see that they were shafted by Bioware again. I do want to be optimistic but the evidence says otherwise.

we can praise Bioware for another 100%, tier 1, action packed, no complaints whatsoever, awesome game that will descend from the heavens in a golden chariot with the sole purpose to lead us all to the promised land. And no one will dislike it, for it shall be the greatest game ever created - now and forever. And then Bethesda will release a game sometime in the future that is 100% bug free and all DLC for it will be loved by all.

Making a quick departure from the Mass Effect 3 talk, does anyone know if there is any afterwards relevance to examining the Mysterious Orb after you obtain the trinket from the Consort? It always bugged me because it felt like it could be important sometime later.

No relevance to ME2, but it's carried on with the save so it probably affects ME3 if I recall right.

Just for fun, here are the tvtropes pages for http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/VideoGame/MassEffect1 and http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/VideoGame/MassEffect2. Yes, there is one for ME3, but I feel badly for Pistolero, so I'll skip on linking that one.

P.S. Had a good laugh reading up on the ME3 tropes, e.g. http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/AllYourBaseAreBelongToUs and http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/AnyoneCanDie. (Feel free to click through. There are no spoilers, and nothing's hinted at that hasn't been trumpeted and neon-signed throughout the entirety of ME3's production.)

I didn't mean Game as in the retailer, I meant game as in my copy of ME3 I preordered from Futureshop.

Edit
Also I didn't post the final clock town music because I noticed it was a day early. Derp. :turned: At or slightly after midnight tonight I'll post if for sure though.

This is for people who know how this is going to go, but on the tvtropes for mass effect 3 there is this little line of text that caught my eye:
Spoiler
"the amount of troops, ships and resources the commander can use against the Reapers - by playing different gameplay modes outside the main single-player campaign."

Now either way I know it isn't going to change the outcome from what we know (at least out of the box-wise), but it makes you wonder...

It allows people who haven't bought ME1 or ME2 to reach maximum readiness without having to buy the other titles.

Am hoping for midnight on the Thursday 8th going into the 9th (ala Steam) but know that when they said the demo would be out on a certain date it was 9am PST....? :( Anyone got any experience with it?

Id like for your honest to god opinion as to why they would make you happy.

Why am I so happy with the endings?

Spoiler
Because Reapers have been painted as unstoppable foes since the first game, you know which ending I REALLY want? I want the galaxy to fail. I want them to try so desperately to survive, only to have their hopes and dreams crushed before their eyes.

The victory? That humanity would make sure the next galactic civilization was more prepared than what the Protheans left us.

However since I can't have that, I'll settle for something that seems just as hopeless anyways.

I also don't understand why everyone expected an ending that would leave the galaxy in a good state. It makes no sense.

But meh whatever. My flame shield is ready.

These endings are a blatant slap to the fanbase, displaying Bioware's ineptitude to keep a good thing going. Capcom did this with Resident Evil. Bungie with Halo. And dare I say Activision with Call of Duty. All this looks like to me is 1 of 3 things:

1) They are planning DLC that will include better endings.
2) The NDA violators are full of it on how much they extracted from the Disc.
3) Bioware should just fold over as a company for murdering 2 very lucrative franchises that made EA want to merge with them in the 1st place.

I'm sorry, but you DO NOT HYPE A POSITIVE ENDING AS MUCH AS THEY HAVE only to drop a set of endings that are more depressing than Clannad and End of Evangelion thrown together.

I'm glad you already know 100% beyond a reasonable doubt that they plan on releasing alternate ending DLC's. I highly doubt they will

I honestly don't get the idea of how they hyped, and or hinted, to a positive ending. You know what I felt at the end of each game? Uncertainty and fear, knowing my demise was only merely delayed.

Besides there's still a chance for galactic civilization to rebuild again, only this time without the threat of reapers.

No idea, but that's what I've been told. It doesn't really look like it's been shut down. I do know it's been written by Bioware. So it is canon.
