Mass Effect Thread #60

Post » Mon May 14, 2012 12:06 pm

Welcome to the new Mass Effect thread, with the imminent release of ME3 we expect a lot of posts to begin filling this thread. Lately a lot of the posts have concerned Bioware and their policy on Day 1 DLC. Or even EA. This isn't the thread to critique them. There is however a Bioware thread where you can go and discuss that matter. It would be appreciate by fans of Mass Effect and the moderators if you can keep the topics separate of each other. To this end I've added a link to the Bioware thread where you can feel free to critique them to your hearts content. This also includes other things such as their limited collectors edition policy and any other thing you can think of. Thank you in advance.

With spoilers soon to be rampant make sure to put them in a spoiler to not ruin the game for people. The spoiler tags can be used like so [spoiler r] and the matching tag would be [ / spoiler] with no spaces and removing the extra r in the first tag. Below is an example spoiler.

Nooooooooooooooooooooooo...sniped by a minute...can any mod delete my previous thread?

Edit anyways, picking up from where we left off on the previous thread, I think those who want to be added for Mass Effect 3's multiplayer should place their XBL gamertag / PSN Name / Origin Name - in their signature.

Also, I have noticed with some happiness, that nobody has reported the character / weapon / equipment reset glitch yet.

Damn it BioWare... I... I'm at a loss for words...

I pretty much broke down, BioWare really knows how to pull on your heartstrings.

Here's what I'm talking about for those interested, massive spoilers ahead...

Spoiler

And here I thought you were going to mention the endings.

And on to what you brought up, bringing an idea to my head:

Spoiler
will I be able to save them both if I had gain both Tali's and Legion's loyalty, and I converted all the heretics back?

Yes, as long as Tali wasn't exiled in ME2, you do both Rannoch sidequests, and save Zaal'Koris.

To my knowledge, you can't save Legion. But, you can broker peace between the Quarians and Geth (and save Tali in the process) if you do as Riverstyx said.

Tuchanka and the next main mission after that were well done, very impressed by that section. Only problem I had was a couple game overs from those stupid high level Cerberus Enemies, the Phantoms or was it the Nemesis, one of those two. Loving the section that I'm in so far, still can't believe the ending's going to be terrible with what I've seen of the story. Guess that's what happens when you rush something or wing the plot instead of having it be set since ME1.

Revanant is terrible, it was much better in ME2. Maybe it's because I like the Matlock so much but I couldn't use the Revanant effectively to save my life.

Im gonna have to say, I'm looking foward to Arrival DLC. I still have Garrus, Mordin and Grunt's Loyalty Missions to do, and I haven't even been to Tuchanka yet. After that, I start the endgame - then Arrival (makes sense for me at least).....then onto playthrough 2 (just because I don't wanna walk into 3 in a relationship with Tali and not Miranda).

I'm only a couple of hours in so far. I'm liking the leveling system and I feel like the biotics are a little bit stronger than in Mass Effect 2 (and therefore a little more fun). Or maybe that is just a result of being level 30 to start...

at the end none of what you do or did matters- which is why so many are angry with the ending in ME3. its like a dream sequence at the end.. also control= illusive man..syntheisis was Saren.. destroy= anderson and sheps goal was to destroy the reapers so detroy is the only right option or you are actually siding with the reapers/indoctrinated. the boy was harbinger

Funny, i had no problem with Phantoms with the Revenant. Reminded me of what Ash said in ME1 about the Asari commandoes: "unless that speed let's them outrun a bullet, i rather take a sturdy armor and a big gun". Phantoms couldn't outrun Revenant's bullets :lmao:

It's spread is pretty high, and the ...bullet time ability (whatever it's proper name was) doesn't allow precision aiming with it like in ME2, but with recoil damper mod and AP ammo it decimated pretty much every enemy i pointed it at  And those it didn't, the Black Widow did

But silly cutscene Shepard, firing that Predator toy pistol at cars and shuttles when she had a machine gun and anti-materiel rifle

Rannoch sequence until my paragon points were high enough, and that my prior games had met whatever criteria, because the version you got would have made me quit the game and never bother to finish. It's an utterly pointless alternative. The Geth that were not indoctrinated were always clear they did not hate the creators but they would always logically move to defend themselves, defend the positions they had taken. The ending I got was the definite high point of the game - the three quests were really good, the resolution exciting and satisfying, and yes sad.Because there is no version where Legion gets to live. And Legion was one of my favorite characters.

On another note, I started ME1 last night and laughed - in the prologue sequence, they throw out the most gi-normous foreshadowing for the entire series. When you find the two doctors and one of them has gone a bit crazy, listen to what he has to say.

I'm doing a playthrough with my renegade character now. I sabotaged the genophage cure for the Salarians, and lied to Wrex about it. I thought I got away with it, too. Then... "I know what you did, Shepard!"

And another name on the memorial wall.

It's a credit to their writers that they were able to surprise me on this one.

I just watched the goodbye ending for Garrus if you romanced him and I was damn near in tears...I'm such a girl... :( Ironically it was the Kaidan one I was dreading but the blow was softened by the fact he was sure you definitely weren't coming back. But with Garrus he was really hopeful you would and when he said he was looking forward to a little human/Taurian baby and I got all teary eyed...wouldn't have been so bad if I weren't at work lol

Quick question, (Not to go off of the current topic) but do you believe I would like this series? When I see stuff from in-game I think of KOTOR II (Which I loved). I'm not the biggest Sci-Fi fan (I mostly enjoy Fantasy) but what do you think, should I get the first Mass Effect? A few examples of Sci-Fi I like are Star Wars, Deus Ex, Halo, and Fallout (If it counts :P).

It's not very sci-fi. It's in line with Star Wars. Since you like that, I'd recommend you get it.

Considering the first one is only about a tenner it's a good investment. It's a very entertaining series. :)

Rumor has it that Bioware heard our pleas for a new ending. It could actually happen. Though this is just early rumors.
