Yeah Svafnir is one of my faves. Definitely go out and find as much of his material as you can.

Honestly, Helheim sounds great if not for the vocals...no offense.

Oh and Sólstafir is definitely a band I am going to get into.

I feel like sharing some more of Sólstafir's Svartir Sandar. Here's Djákninn. It's the second disc Gola's closer.

Favourite riff after 04:38. It swings. It makes me think of '70s psychedelic hard rock.

I'm really impressed with this band. You're right, that riff is very 70s. In a good way.

Listened to an album I just discovered by http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iIVpkKADnSw&hd=1 in the car today and enjoyed it immensely. Was driving over a mountain pass and maybe it's just me but black metal seems to sound best in the mountains in the winter. Anyway, I expect people who like Alcest or Agalloch will like this.

Yay, glad to have made someone else discover the brilliance of Sólstafir. You'll hear that the rest of Svartir Sandar is equally or even more mindblowing. And really psychedelic and in the atmosphere of the 70s.

That Deafheaven is pretty much how I like it. I'm loving it. If I had known about it, it could have been among my favourites of 2011. It looks like this is another thing I'll want to order. Thanks.

I'll better make a new thread.
