Randomly jumped onto the Metal Archives before heading out, and found a Brazilian Viking Metal band. They've only got a demo out, but they're not bad (well, if you like Viking/Pagan Metal anyway).

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5NUrxgvS8Is and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Odd9O6GF7sc are the two I'm familiar with. I'm especially fond of the endless riffing in that Yob song. Also, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0396_bsM5eY&feature=related is kind of all over the place but some of their music sounds like stoner metal to me.

I don't know much about stoner metal, but does http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gi4PmTnLoR8&feature=related count? Found them browsing on bandcamp while figuring out when I can buy Metazoa by http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5e-DSgWVkW4.

I don't know, we had a thread one, and then a thread two a few months back. Now thread two again... :bonk: This thread must be going off the rails on a crazy train. Or Peter did not thrice deny his life's most prized tax collector.

Yeah I was the one that made that thread 2 a few months back, when I joined I wasn't aware there had been many previous to it , oops

Ha ha ha ha, *turns to make a note in his "diary of a madman"*

I also see Mr Mora mention Amorphis, I agree they are [censored] great

I realise my opinion is worthless, considering what I am about to declare.

Nightwish's new album is fantastic, better than I expected. Anette's vocals have really improved and I love the amount of folk influence present. There is also some Jazz and Doom as well on a couple of the tracks.

Yeah, I'd be willing to bet that this is one of the oldest threads on the forums (if not the oldest). Anyone excited about the new Napalm Death album. Saw them in December and they ripped.

At first I haven't thought to much of Amorphis, but I am going to re-listen to them after work today. See if my opinions change. :P

Same goes with them, but I have been getting into the older school sounds of death metal, such as bands like Decrepitaph and Revolting. So I will re-listen to them too. :P

I was incredibly drunk when I saw them and I just kept shouting "NAZI PUNKS [censored] OFF" all the time. When the finally played that song he shoved the mic towards me and I got to shout the song name :D

Wow. That is awesome! Is Napalm Death one of your favorite bands too?

I had a similar experience. I know -core, is allowed here, but one of my favorite bands is All Shall Perish. They are not a breakdown-fest band, but anyways, after their show, I was the first to walk over to their tent, and their rhythm guitarist, Ben Orum; told me to take a seat and we sat there and talked. It was friggin' awesome! It was my first show too. I really want to go to Maryland Deathfest to see Ulcerate, but this year probably won't happen.

Saw them at Bloodstock, very abrasive but very, very good. Been listening to a lot of Wormrot recently as well, similar death/grind stuff and from Singapore too. Earache were offering their most recent album for free download on their website, have a look, it's definitely worth checking out.

Also not sure if anyone else picked up on this but David Gold from Woods of Ypres died last week. Pretty gutted, loved their last album and he seemed like a really nice bloke. I was going to see them for the first time in February, shame I won't be now :(

Not my cup 'o tea, but I see a link to bandcamp in the description. Have been browsin' through again on that site and have found some cool stuff. Such as http://graveheart.bandcamp.com/album/return-of-the-curse-of-the-creatures-ghost, who remind me of Revocation. And I also found http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IJTYYcot5DY a solo project, of death/black/progressive/doom elements. I find it pretty cool. Don't know about you guys. I am trying to expand my metal tastes. :P

What releases are people looking forward to this year?

We should see new Lunar Aurora and full-length debut from Wrathprayer quite soon.

My most wanted releases are so far from:

Overkill
Testament
Savage Messiah
Alcest
Epica
Sabaton
Judas Priest (supposedly in 2012)
Candlemass
Kalmah
Kreator
Metallica (have another one due out in 2012 but after the Lulu fiasco I have lost most of my faith in them)
Slayer (I believe have one out in 2012, will be interesting. Their stuff has always been love it or hate it for me)

Iron Maiden live DVD (was I believe supposed to get released last year, but nothing wa released so probably this year)

Great stuff, bought the album. Cheers!
