Most Memorable Villain

The guards in Skyrim that took an arrow to arghghsoSFN.GCV N.876.....and created an inescapable meme that even the girls I know - who don't play games - use, evil!

Book: Count Olaf

Pretty much any Batman villian does it for me, obviously the Joker is the most enigmatic and has had some brilliant performances but all of them are pretty awesome.

Jerry from Tom and Jerry. The glorification of what is essentially a squatter, I always rooted for Tom.

The first villain that came to mind when I read the title was actually Fable's Jack of Blades. He was awesome! In the final fight (not the dragon one) I let him whack away at my hero for almost a full hour while pressing my screenshot button, and I ended up with hundreds of awesome screenshots of him beating up my guy. Good times.

Others

Games:
  • Alduin (cuz he's a big bad black dragon with an awesome voice)
  • Rodrigo and Cesare Borgia (Assassin's Creed and AC: Brotherhood)
  • Dr. Breen (Half-Life 2)
  • Mr.Face/the Grunt (Amnesia the Dark Descent... the first time I ran into him... oh god...)
Books:
  • Voldemort
  • Sartol (Chronicles of LonTobyn)
  • Visser Three (Animorphs, currently rereading the series, good ol' nostalgia!)
Movies:
  • Sauron (yes I'm one of those people who didn't read the books so he goes into my movie category)
  • Davy Jones (Pirates of the Caribbean)
  • MegaMind (not really for the villain factor but more because he's adorable... and because he has style!)

Whenever I see Time Curry I immediately assume he's the bad guy. So he's my most memorable villain, not the characters he acts as.

And boy does he enjoy his roles.

Alien (Alien, Aliens, Alien 3, Alien Resurrection)

That is definitely a weird case imho cause it is a villain and yet isn't kind of like Doomsday where he's a vicious psychotic creature that loves to kill. However he's just simply mindless having no need for money, power, or what have you. The first movie alien is quite interesting from a movie standpoint since it was the first time I saw the villain go left to right instead of the standard right to left in a shot.

I would say:

The Joker
The Covenant as a whole
The Enclave
And Pope Alexander VI because killing the pope is pretty extreme even in a video game, and from someone who is Catholic.

Money, Power, etc. doesn't always define something as a villain. For example, Edgar Ross wasn't looking for either of those, he was just simply interested in the manipulation of a man who otherwise would have put a bullet or two in him, himself. Sure, power came from the manipulation, but still, that's what made Edgar Ross a good villain, was his joy of manipulation.

I'm not sure whether I like it or not, that he is intorduced towards the very end, and only at the very end is he the bad guy. But, that's not a bad thing. Perosnally I liked Dutch more than Edgar Ross.

Well Ross is the overall bad guy in the game, the one pulling the strings. People like Dutch, Williamson, and Colonel Allende, are only bad people in the sense of their actions at the current time of dealing with them. Ross however, is always in the background as a reminder that if Marston doesn't take care of what he has to do, his family gets it. So really, although he's only apparently known as the bad guy near the end, as you said, he's really the only bad guy who trails along from beginning to end.

I did like though, while I was working with him I thought he was a pretty awesome character, then he did his thing. Then when you find him as Jack and do that quest, I sort of felt sorry for him. Because he was an old man, how his wife would have felt about it, and he was killed by a character like Jack, who I disliked. If it had a choice I would have let him live.

I agree, working with him was fun and is why I said he was one of the most memorable villains, because it was like finally working with the puppeteer himself, rather than just the other puppets. I am however, one of those few players of RDR, who took the indifferent stance, when it came to Ross later on. I'm even rather indifferent to Jack, and that whole thing, unlike most people who dislike him.

I dislike him because he is just given to you, and that is all. And he sounds weird and says funny things. Like yelling at his horse "Work damn Nag, Work" I always just chuckle everytime I hear that.

Yeah, but who else could they have replaced him with to keep free roaming, without just ending the game after John's burial? His voice was just a poor choice in casting, but really being how old he is, it doesn't seem out of place. And one thing Jack did have over John, was his base outfit compared to the time. Unlike John who seemed to be better suited for a game set in the 1880s and '90s, Jack seemed more like a contemporary gunfire/cowboy of the 1910s, with his base outfit.

I think they could have done better introducing the character instead of, I like reading, then I go hunting and now I think I can hunt a bear! And if he has better word choice I think it could have been an improvement. But overall I think they handled the transition rather poorly. It felt to me as just an excuse to play the game after the ending so you could get 100% completion... which I did. :)
