Most Memorable Villain

Post » Sun May 13, 2012 12:16 am

So what's your favorite memorable villain from a movie, comic book, novel, or whatever form of media? Read some reference materials online where people talked about theirs stating they loved X villain cause of Y reason, etc... . For me I think Mr. Freeze from Batman The Animated Series is probably a memorable one. While Mark Hamil's joker was great Freeze had more depth to him as he tried to revive his nearly dead wife always keeping her safe.

Really like the Batman Beyond episode "Meltdown" where Mr. Freeze returned having regained a body but then returning to a cursed life as a frozen nightmare. The scene between him and the new batman was really epic as he made that wall of ice separating the two with freeze potentially dieing in the collapse of the building.

Milady de Winter, aka Charlette Backson, aka Anne de Breuil, aka the Comtesse de La Fere, aka Lady Clarick.

The most conniving, spiteful, maliciously heartless wicked woman who ever did scheme and plot. She is the villain of The Three Musketeers, no doubt.

I don't think any villain has ever drawn such an emotional hatred out of me, nor such jubilation at seeing them finally get their just reward.

There was that "Devil" guy in that one book. He seemed pretty bad.

Hannibal Lecter, Jack Torrance, The Joker, altough not a true "villain".. Lee Ermey as the drill instructor in Full Metal Jacket. Another memorable villain for me is the mummy in "The Mummy".

Pyramid Head from the Silent Hill series is a villain I've always liked.

Prince Regal from Robin Hobb's Farseer Trilogy

He's just so damn evil and only a select few know this and his true intentions

Off hand, I'd probably say The Joker. That should cover movies, video games, books.

(but no one has said Darth Vader yet?)

Alduin. He was incredibly fleshed out and his surprise revealing of himself at the end of the game was a shocker for Skyrim.

I can't really think of much at the moment, but perhaps the Androids of Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?,despite the fact they mostly weren't villains. More of antagonists than villains.

I disagree; A Burn victim in a fancy breathing suit who could choke you without laying a finger on you.. You know what, still not terrifying.

Speaking of Vader, his stunt double died recently.

Indeed. One of the what.. six people (not sure) who played his role died?

I wasn't utterly shocked by it, but it was a little depressing. Still, he isn't much of a villain. Can't even fly a Tie-Fighter better then a teenager.

Iago from Othello. The "motiveless malignity". I don't know if it's a widely regarded theory, but I remember reading how soliloquies were supposed to be the innermost motives - the workings of the soul; the ultimate truth of their actions. And yet, Iago's motives in his kept changing - there never was any fixed reason for what he did - he just did it because ultimately, he could. There was no working of the soul behind his words. And when faced with the tragedy he wrought, he wouldn't give them anything - because there was nothing. He just wanted to destroy something pure.
