Can anyone tell me if it's sorted the Markarth guard issue and/or the Waking Nightmare quest bug? ... it's the last part of my last Skyrim achievement and I love the Daedra quests :'(

Pale Lady quest is fine, its worked for me on 5 characters. Your just doing it wrong. And as for the illusion quest/radiant quests, they wont show up till you clear out other similar radiant quests. This is a known issue with the radiant quests system caused by the player trying to be a smartarse by mutli-questing. Complete the radiant quests you were given.

Book quests were never mentioned in the notes.

Guys speaking from experience of using the PC patch, this latest patch does fix some problems with an existing save but the rule is the same with all patches on any game to be honest, to quote game makers everywhere "The patch is save game compatible but a new game is highly recommended"

I would guess if you are still having problems that they say are fixed then a new game would almost certainly fix it, from my experience with the PC version Pantea's Flute worked with a new game but not with the save game I was using before.

From what I understand, those 'clean-up' scripts execute after 30 days. Give it a go. I'd like to hear your results.

Sorry to keep you waiting.

Good news - Them annoying ash and ghost piles are now good as gone. But it seems they're just for enemies.

Bad news - Ash piles of certain NAMED NPC's such as Grelod the Kind, Thonar Silver-Blood and Degaine are pretty damn stubborn and STILL won't go away even after I waited for 30 in-game days.

Personally, I don't mind that. You have a record of what has happened to important game characters (and so it likely to be intentional). The main problem was with enemies that regenerated, because they could be turned into ash piles. Therefore, ash-piles from generic enemies could build up over time, bloating the save file. But with named NPC's, this isn't going to happen because there is only one instance of them.

Thanks for the information, Kay7!

And it seems I've encountered minor, but easily fixable, problem upon loading my previous save.

I went to the Dark Brotherhood sanctuary in Dawnstar and I noticed that the display mannequin in my room has not only moved to the floor instead of on the table, but the Dark Brotherhood armor I displayed on it won't display at all. Fortunately, the armor is still there so a quick take-and-give should fix that.

No prob. Happy to help.

Still, the game should clean those up as well, since seeing their ash piles every time I pass by them gets a bit annoying after a while.

That reminds me, does anyone have any problems with the bookshelves? I tried them in my Breezehome and they work fine with no problems. It should be noted however, that I hadn't experienced any problems with them on patch 1.3 (although they didn't function at all on patch 1.1). So, if anyone had glitched bookshelves, it will be interesting to see if they now function properly.

Well, I remember going to Breezehome and opening the bookshelf by the alchemy station so I could put some more books in it, but I found out that it was empty, even though the display clearly shows books on it. But when I closed the bookshelf, all of the books disappeared. Fortunately, this only happened to me ONCE, and it didn't happen to me ever since in my other houses. And it was during my first playthrough before the 1.4 patch, and the disappeared books were all either replacable or from quests I've long finished, so it didn't bother me very much.

Glitched bookshelves stay glitched, Beth have already stated the "fix" is not retroactive, its a preventative fix. It wont happen now with shelves, but previously bugged ones will stay bugged.

So I've finally had my house in Windhelm deocrated. Plaques and displays seems to be working so far. Sadly, the only thing missing here is the chest in my bedroom. The decorating guide over at UESP clearly states that chest at the foot of the bed is part of the bedroom decorations, and yet it's not there.

Edit:

I've noticed some more problems so far:

1. For some strange reason the Steel Sword I've stolen is displayed much higher than the other weapons I put on the rack.

2. The display on the left side of the weapon plaque (the one where you can put two weapons and a shield) is pretty off. I tried this with Daedric swords and the left side is the only thing that's not working properly. Not only that, when I try to put a dagger on it, the dagger is floating very far from the plaque. Same goes for the stolen Steel Sword.

3. Speaking of daggers, display cases for them STILL eat them up and refuse to give them back!

4. Okay, it looks like the Steel Sword is the ONLY weapon so far that won't display properly on ANY weapon rack and case.

Anyone know if the Theives Guild Armor issue is fixed?
(The one where you can accidentally sell the armor, if you think it svcks..... and then NEED it after to get the cheevo).

Hope so! :(
I sold the amour as well I was hoping 1.4 would fix it but no she still does not give out the amour looks like starting a fresh is the only way it will work.

Woohoo, I'm glad you guys finally got 1.4. Does it do anything new performance wise on the 360?

P.S. - Read the patch notes before getting upset about something not fixed. If it's not mentioned in the notes it won't be fixed this time around.

I dont think that was ever listed as a fix, personally i stopped playing just before Xmas, I started playing Dark Souls and Mass Effect comes out soon, then the witcher 2 and the possibly after that I will start a second playthrough of skyrim and by then there'll be 2 or 3 more patches

I havent read anyone getting to grips with why this happens yet. So its no wonder its not sorted out. If they cant find the cause, they cant fix it.

HAHAHAHAHAHAA I love these posts blaming the player. "its your fault for running around and having fun instead of playing this game like a serious job. Do quests out of order? The Jarl asked you to kill those bandits and you think you can just run around enjoying the music and scenery??!!?" Ive read reviews stating they love how you take a quest and get lost and pick up other quests and get distracted but come back to a quest later and I agree. Jesus you wouldnt know like we were playing an openworld game where the box claims that you can explore this world with the kind of freedom we didnt even know was possible in this game. *SARCASM*

Ive done things in quests out of order and it screwed everything up. A character in a cage gave me a quest and in order to continue the quest I was supposed to let her out of the cage. I killed her instead and got the the end of the dungeon but the quest didnt complete. I realized I had to go back in and open the cage to progress even tho the character was dead and couldnt leave the cage whether it was opened or closed. That is the kind of thing real world playtesting would iron out. Game testers are supposed to try and break a game by doing things out of order and generally trying to break the game. Ive played these types of games before and also done some amateur level design so I had a feeling I missed a trigger of some sort and I would have to activate it before I could continue. What about someone who isnt that into games? WHat about someone who works hard for there money and only gets a little time to unwind on the weekend and runs into this kind of [censored] left right and center.

Alexando just because youre not calling people names and jsut because we are on the bethesda board and you support bethesda at every turn it doesnt mean you are not being a jerk. If you want to defend bethesda that is fine. I love fallout and I love elder scrolls and as pissed as I am and have been about bugs I think that these are some of the best games ever released....so go ahead defend bethesda because they didnt make these bugs on purpose. But dont defend the bugs themselves. You seem like you are one step away from saying they dont need to be fixed because anyone not playing like you is playing wrong. They gave us a great game that is full of bugs. The good outqweighs the bad for me that is why Im still playing. If everyon thought like you that we have to watch out for bugs the whole game I would hate to see bethesdas next game.

Bugs in MQ are not consistent and will take longer to squish. Everyone may have the same quests have issues but different causes as to why it didnt work. At least they fixed the CW/MQ collision, THAT was a big part of the problem

TBH it depends on what and how they tested the game. With as many random/static quests its possible they couldnt try to break everyone or go in the exact quest order you decided to do and break it the same fashion. Not all quests are broken easily, it could be a culmination of what you did prior to break and if its something like that, its not something a game tester can do. testers dont test the game the same way we play it. if they did they would never find all the important ones to fix
