Patch 1.4.19.0.4 is available!

Post » Mon May 21, 2012 5:18 am

I just got an update for patch 1.4 for the UK. As soon as I started, 'Onmunds quest' progressed because I already had the staff in my possession (previously, the staff would not be recognized by the quest because i already had it in my inventory).

At least we know this quest is fixed!

Edit: the download is 10Mb in size (not that this is a problem. Just thought i'd mention it. I thought the comparison to the PC version, which is a 190Mb download, is interesting. As long as it fixes bugs, I don't care how big the download is).

Load a savegame, then press 'start' to bring up the journal. Then, select 'System' and you will see the version number on the bottom left of the screen (near the list of options). Note that the number is quite faint, but it is there.

Did it affect your save game size after you installed the patch?
Thanks.

I tried a 12Mb savegame and saved it under patch 1.4. but the size didn't change. However, it is hard to tell from this test because file sizes are rounded up to the nearest Mb. For example, after I saved the new game under patch 1.4, I had 106Mb free space on my drive. I then deleted it and found I had 117Mb free, which is a difference of 11Mb, even though the save file is 12Mb. So, the file size could have reduced in size by anything up to 0.5Mb, but I wouldn't be able to tell due to the rounding up of file sizes that the Xbox does.

It is difficult to draw any conclusions from this because it all depends upon how the data is organized. Note that the download for the PC users is from Steam. This means that entire files are downloaded, files which could only have a small change in them. So, a lot of data could end up being downloaded which doesn't actually have any changes in. With the Xbox, patches are more is targeted to making changes to the relevant information. Thus, they can be much smaller.

My big save file still takes over 5 minutes to load, and apparently they did'nt fix the lockup at loading. I still can't enter the dark brotherhood or the blue palace without getting stuck at the loading screen, I have also tried to move on foot from riften to shor's stone, the game froze at the first watchtower.

In a nutshell, for thoses who had big game with 300 + hours invested in, the game is still unplayable

I'm only hoping now that a NEW character would'nt suffer from theses issues in the long term

Just as I thought -probably the patch works only if you start a new game.

Does anyone here have the Markarth guards bug/glitch and can verify if it's fixed by the patch?

5 minutes to load? Do you have the 'dwemer museum key' bug? If so, the patch is unlikely to be able to fix this because you may already have thousands of copies of the key in your inventory. If you have this problem, searching for 'dwemer museum key' in the forum will give you threads that explain how to solve this problem. Hopefully, you will be able to fix this nasty bug.

I've not experienced this bug myself, but from the patch notes, we have
  • Fixed instance where Tonilia would stop buying stolen items and also would not give Guild Leader Armor
It will be interesting to see what happens when you talk to Tonilla. If you get chance to try this soon, please report back with your findings.

Yea, I saw that on the notes... but does that mean you can now buy things off her again... but the Armor is still gone?
I'll be trying later this afternoon, still at work. :(
If anyone else can test this for us before, it'd be muchly apreciated. :)

Does anyone know how many in-game days does it take for stuff (bodies, items, etc.) to disappear? I'm currently trying to see if ash and ghostly piles finally disappear if you wait long enough with the patch installed.

Oh and the weapon racks in my Solitude house's basemant FINALLY work. Before, only 2 out of 5 were unselectable. Now, I can finally put them to good use. Still gotta try the Windhelm house, though. I've yet to buy any furniture for it.

From what I understand, those 'clean-up' scripts execute after 30 days. Give it a go. I'd like to hear your results.
