PC Patch out Now

Post » Mon Dec 12, 2011 6:53 am

Why did they release the PC patch , everyone and their granny's knew this patch breaks the game .. but still the let it out

Who knows, suppose it depends if this patch was shipped to Steam at the same time it was shipped to Sony and MS for verification. If so, explains things a bit. If not, Beth really screwed the pooch.

so question is it true that this patch addressed interior lag from lighting and fog effects?

Not sure if you were referring to my post, but if not, yes, it completely fixed it for me! Wasn't expecting it as there is no mention of any such fixes in the change log. I'm running on a geforce GT540M (mobile gpu).

@Gerix
blah... this patch did add bugs with or without mods. official anything is not really helpful. if we had the CK already we would have real patches with real contact with authors who could give us information.

as far as steam downloading patch even if you have it set to off it resets its prefs when leaving offline mode. I will never leave offline mode in steam and when they finally have released the CK and we have community patches that actually fix stuff I will have a version that plays without anything steam involved.

I did in fact buy the game because I like supporting Bethesda and their titles because their base game is amazing and wonderful. With the added level of complexity and bugginess with the wrapper of steam around the game we are bound to not only have problems but have problems directly with patches coming through or not coming through properly. Steam gets patch they dont know its bugged but Beth does by the time any word gets to steam the patch is live and being downloaded.
this route for updates and such is good for steam as they will have more visibility with ads and such but its not so great for players who want function over complexity.

Well, [censored]. I'm at school on my laptop and left Steam running on my computer. Probably way too late. If it deletes my saves I'm going to freak the [censored] out.

hmm still going to wait for patch. I wish I could get that fix directly or even better we could get detailed patch notes... sigh

This. It's sounding to me like the first thing you should do if you're having problems is to remove all (and I mean ALL) mods. Get it to work, then try re-applying them. But don't complain about Bethesda's crappy QA unless you are having serious problems and have never installed any mods whatsoever.

Sounds to me like the people you should be complaining about are the people who made those mods which break a new versions of Skyrim.

My policy is to never install anything on my computer unless I have a clear reason AND if I trust the source. I.e. the only mods I'm installing for Skyrim are those officially blessed by Bethesda. That policy has saved me a lot of headaches over the years.

Seriously, then you never really experienced Morrowind or Oblivion. The mods are the reason why I didn't just pick up the Xbox360 version of Skyrim and then trade it in a week later.
