PATCH IS OUT !

Post » Wed May 16, 2012 6:16 pm

Your FOS there is NO difference in FOV pop ins OR textures you are just getting all paranoid because your framerates have improved, I haven't noticed ANY differences!

Btw even b4 the patch there were times when textures wouldn't load properly but you would come back and they would be fine, this has nothing to do with the patch!

People get so pannicky.... Show me the difference B4 the patch and after and maybe I will give you some credit, otherwise, shhhhhh your scaring the children!

Indeed, people are being just paranoic. I had graphical problems before (a shield was all blurred) then after a few loadings it was perfect again.

By the way, could anyone confirm if the save game overwriting issue was solved?

At first I was really looking forward to this patch 'cause I can't go anywhere without the game going down to 1-8 fps, now...not so much. I've grown attached to my Khajiit Werewolf...don't want to have to restart just to get rid of this lag.

One way or another, you'll be forced to download it sooner or later. That's Sony's policy of always shoving patches down your throat.
you are never forced to download patches on the PS3. Just skip the patch when the message says that there's a new patch or if that's not possible simply pull the internet connection.

If you want to play DLCs, you'll have no choice sooner or later, CopyCat. I'm speaking in general.

Edit: I'm thinking of deleting my file and starting the game over.

hmmmmm after playing with the patch for a couple of hours now i'm going to alter my initial statement which said "lag was fixed" to "lag has been improved"

Is it playable lag though? Or is it still bad enough to take away the enjoyment?

Do you honestly have to make a new character just for the effects of the patch to kick in...?

I'm about 50 hours in, and my save file is around 8 MB.
Before the patch I experienced moderate lag after about 3 - 4 hours of play. Now after I installed patch 2.01 it turned in to a total lagfest (much much worse than before) after just an hour of play!
When I first loaded up the game it was smooth as silk, it probably ran better than ever before, but It deteriorated very quickly after completing only one quest (Trouble In Skyrim).
As I exited Bleak Falls Barrows I had to put down a dragon before I walked back to Whiterun to get quest completion. I experienced small fps drops the whole journey but as I neared and entered Whiterun
the game became almost totally unplayable.

To say this is unacceptable would be an understatement.

The patch will not fix a defragmented HD, you will need to do this yourself. It will make a massive difference.

This has nothing to do with the patch sheesh ! This used to happen before the patch, whiterun for some reason after running around for awhile becomes laggy when you reenter, especially during the daytime, it has been doing this since I started Skyrim! If you reload and reenter wham the lag dissapears! Oh it is the patches fault waaaaaaaaaa..... What is unnaceptable is Bethesda fixing issues that some people were having and coming here to see people like you blame the patch for problems that already existed!

Have you tried that? To the best of my knowledge fragmentation is not an issue in PS3 filesystem.

For me it's totally playable but i'm aware different people have different views on what is and isn't playable. Before the patch my lag was awful and totally unplayable unless you wanted to play for 5 mins at a time.

Now it is a million times better but there are still some instances of slight lag (and I would like to emphasize the word slight). My only worry is that when I add another couple of mb to my save file it will get really bad again. Time will tell.

Yea the PS 3 XMB is set up to where it fragments data as its being DL'd or deleted...the only thing that could screw it up is a corrupted save...and even then I beleive the file stays isolated.
System Restore and all the other stuff mentioned in threads only fixed the lag problem due to placebo effects.

No, no...I was just saying I may just a new character. If you read, you'll see that it kinda fixed the lag on several people's existing characters.

Honestly my lag wasn't so bad so I haven't been too worried about this. What I am annoyed about is that the quests still aren't fixed, the fact that I can't continue the main quest or the stormcloak quest is really frustrating. That makes this unplayable more than any other issue for me.

Ontopic: Do any of you guys think the unplayable lag will hit after gaining a few megabytes on your save size?

I was hoping it would fix the chugging of the screen when you turn the camera slowly in forests and some dungeons but it is still [censored], seems to have a bad time rendering. Now I'm stuck between average settings on PC or boom chugaluga on the PS3 :/

Ah great I spoke to soon. After 30 minutes of play and a trip to windhelm the game lags just as much as before the patch and the blood on the ice quest still won't trigger and the jarls assistant still says the house had some un pleasantries and it ain't available to purchase. History repeats itself yet again.

Oh in that case reload and it should dissapear, we have all run into this issue even the PC version has it! One day I ran into Winterhold and all the snowy textures and the bricks looked like they had been taken straight out of Daggerfall, it actually made me quite nostalgic :) Alas I left the city returned and everything had gone back to normal, I was almost sorry for a second ;)
