PCPS3 Release Date Thread part 10

I have to disagree with that, simply based on the response the community have given Bethesda about using these tools. It would be silly for them to simply pull modding.

From my experience in the industry, we all know that the first month of any gaming launch is where you get the most revenue. However the first month is NOT a magical 30 days and then the revenue drops. The revenue drops slowly, or sometimes it lasts way more than a month.

I′m guessing the contract may have this issue in consideration, and gamesas may be unable to launch Dawnguard for other platforms until MS numbers reach certain point.

however thats not the case, the terms of the contract was specified as a set number of days: 30. the fact that there is a delay now is unrelated and because for what ever reason BGS has dropped the ball on getting DG ready for release on the other platforms. although its plain to see that there are people who vocally propose that BGS is deliberately with holding the product from them just to spite the consumer.

With the way they've been selling out to Microsoft, I can almost quarantee that the next TES game will not get modding tools...

That is ridiculous.

That doesn't make any sense. Releasing the modding tools been extremely beneficial for their business.

Not to mention I really don't see how you make the connection with "late DLC release for PC & PS3 = no modding tools in the future".

I think Pete Hines made it pretty clear, they never made any announcement about Dawnguard coming out for PS3 or PC.
I think you missed what he said next.

But bad for Microsofr as the main reason why moat people chose the PC version over the Xbox version is the modding.

yes yes no modding tools makes no sense, but making Dawnguard completely XBOX exclusive doesn't make much sense either.
I guess we are starting to think like them.

I think Pete Hines made it pretty clear, they never made any announcement about Dawnguard coming out for PS3 or PC.

But they sure didn't take the time to correct any websites or reviews that stated it. They just happily let everyone believe it
would be coming out on PS3 and PC. To tell you the truth, I don't think there was a 30 day exclusive with Microsoft. I think it was
just an Exclusive Content with Microsoft, so PS3 and PC users will never get to play it, unless they go buy it for the XBOX.

that is patently false. Pete Hines has already clearified the misconception regarding that statement.

*snip*

I agree. In future PC players should 'boycott' :whistling: BGS games, since they only care about money, hit them where it hurts.

I am suspecting we will see it at some point if only because my PC version of the game spawned an entry in the stats section for Dawnguard Quests completed after the last patch.

Not sure which genius a M$ feels I am going to rush out, buy and XBox and a game I already own just to play some DLC though... even if it never shows up on PC at all.

I don't understand why the PC version would be released later than the 30-Days (or why they would take part in such a poor business practice), PC's are what it was built for and with. PS3s at least make a little sense, but even if they were busily designing higher-res textures to match their earlier pack it would not take this long.

I just noticed the forum has the logos of BGS, Beth Softworks, and Xbox and XboxLive but no Playstation. Not a good sign.

Because as yet the game is not released for other platforms. When it is there will be the relevant logos.

I guess we are starting to think like them.
but it does make sense from a financial perspective, they get a large sum of money for delaying the product on other platforms for 30 days, and once the DLC is out the majority of people will have gotten over it.

I personally hate exclusives, i don't fancy timed exclusives but i can tolerate them since i always wait until the GOTY edition is released with all of the DLC.

and the status of the exclusive contract with xbox has nothing to do with the false assertion that Bethesda softworks would with hold modding tools from now on.

I think and feel that the main amounts of anger have been unleashed in the past few topics, I think now that we have "some" idea of what is happeningm we should plan to keep ourselves preoccupied until then, sure being it's the Summer Holidays we don't have work or schools to take up our time in the day thus we are left sitting with more free time on our hands, which I think is possibly one of the main problems. A weel or Two feel ALOT longer when you have to do nothing but play games which keeps reminding you of what you COULD have i.e Dawnguard.

As for me, I'll go back to other PS3 and PC games I've got, Deus Ex, Killing Floor etc etc.

I do believe the main reason for rage wasn't that there was no Dawnguard yesterday we all mostly expected that, it was that we were so ill informed, and with people around the world in this forums we are all raging in different time zones. Me as an example I came on here at 2am my time, but for most others it could have been only about 9am.

Anyways. I'd like to point out my amazement that Thread 5 came up to Thread 10 so quickly in over a night or so.

I believe now, we just have to sit back, play some games, plan for the future and wait. If some of us buy Dawnguard or not then oh well.

Wow, two mods are now part of the conversation. I believe this hasn't been seen since the slaying of Dagoth Ur lol. This just affirms importance of this topic for me, and possibly for Bethesda. fingers crossed :D

If it were built for PC then why...
the UI is a mess that not always works properly
we got HD textures later on as a DLC
game runs poorly on 32bit OS

Skyrim was designed for X360.

Though I doubt that fact alone in any incentive for them to release before they believe they should. :|

Bethesda was never known for being very considerate and clever regarding such things, but these exclusive deals are punch in the face for this huge fan base at pc an ps3. Maybe the Xbox sells 5 times the copys of games, but the modding community is still the most innovative thing regarding Bethesda and their games. Here they can find a lot of inspiration in changing their repetetive gameplay and poor questlines.

In times where all around the globe governments fight for more competition, this exclusice deals is like stepping back to medieval times...

Not that I need Dawnguard right now, but this is so dissapointing. Especially such a "in your face" twitter message from the PR guy...

its not terribly unusual for moderators to take part in the discussion, beyond closing threads and giving out warnings. They came from the forum community itself and not from bethesda softworks, and unpaid i might add, your more likely to see them participate in a discussion in an unofficial manner in the Community Discussion sub forum.

however the moderators have their own subforum that they alone can access so i think they have most of their unofficial discussions there.

We have no more information than you guys. Whilst we may get a "heads up" notification of new information being released a couple of hours before it is, we have heard nothing.
