PCPS3 Release Date Thread part 10

Post » Sat Nov 17, 2012 12:50 am

Right, I'm re-opening this now, and I hope everyone can be civil about this subject. While it's perfectly fine to have a negative opinion about the lack of a solid release date, you have to express them in a civil and mature way. I do not want to see immature hostile posts :nono:

Anyway, the only official word we have as of now, is from http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1398818-inquiries-re-dawnguard-release/. So unfortunately we have to wait until there is more information.
We have not announced release plans for Dawnguard on platforms other than Xbox 360 (available worldwide). As soon as there's any new information to share, we'll let everyone know.

I'm guessing they will release Dawnguard at the same time as the 1.7 patch.

I just want to say that all customers should be treated equally. As it is now, we are not. Just watch Dawnguard trailer to the end.

Found a great video. http://www.joystiq.com/2012/06/06/bethesdas-todd-howard-on-dawnguard-the-future-of-skyrim-and-s/
Todd Howard himself said: "There's this weird line between – if you do DLC too early everyone's pissed off. We have found, if you wait too long, they're pissed off"
Hu Hu Hu Hu Hu
Well, if they found out why changed anything yet ?
hu hu hu hu hu
I can't believe that the developers themselves don't have any information about the release. Maybe my theory that they were all on summer holliday is true :)

I wont lie, I was fuming for the first few weeks over the delay of dawnguard's release for ps3 and pc but another user Frank.White made a vaild point that changed my outlook on the situation. There are way bigger things to get pissed about than not being able to play a video game when we want to. There are many forms of entertainment and the fault lies only in the player for not choosing another to occupy one's self until the release is out. For me it was a pride issue but I do understand the frustration of being denied the dlc but again dlc for a video game is pretty small stuff compared to most of the problems we all deal with on a daily basis like unemployment, random accidents, medical bills, pregnancy, or hell even some guy on a street corner that wants to rob you. Yeah it svcks that we can't play it right away, but we will get to play it and that should be your focus. For the time being try investing in another game or another hobby till you can enjoy it because life is too short to get angry over something so small as an addon.

Pere Hines: "I was simply stating that expecting/demanding something today is unfounded. Not that news is never coming."

"yup, understood. Sometimes it's better to say nothing until you can provide solid info than say something before you can."

EDIT: if your implying that he meant that dawn guard is not coming out for any other platform than Xbox, he clarified what he meant shortly after.

your own link showed that.

I will agree with most people that Bethesda is screwing themselves by doing this. With all the new games comming out pretty soon people are just going to move on to those instead. I have severe ADHD and if I had to wait on it I would most likely just forget about it and get something else

they have released DLC much later than this that has sold extremely well. Such as the shivering isles for example.

The part about "as soon as there's any new information to share, we'll let everyone know" is pretty much a complete lie. They know damn well if they will release it or not.

good point. his post seemed to heavily imply that pete hines was saying that they weren't going to release Dawn guard for PC/ps3 ( such as many people have been when they quote that statement). Which i jumped the gun and responded as if he had out right said it. so i changed my post accordingly.

technically i suppose. ps3 is always behind by a few weeks to a month from the rest of the platforms because of the porting and waiting for sony's approval process.

all though my response to nosfaratue was regarding his statement that bethesda was going to loose money because people would loose interest in the DLC. Peoples interest in TES DLC has proven to retain itself for longer periods thus far.

Gotta feel for PS3 (and to a lesser extent PC) owners, bethesda may make some fantastic games but the people involved in game testing and PR are both a bunch of eejits

Now why couldn't Gstaff have posted something like that, would have saved a ton of trouble and moderation.
Although I don't believe in shooting the messager either.

it doesn't seem he posted that because he had any inside knowledge about the progress of the release.

"Skyrim DLC should hopefully be with us next month. Hopefully.

Stay tuned for any possible announcements."

more like he is just hoping it does.

From my experience in the industry, we all know that the first month of any gaming launch is where you get the most revenue. However the first month is NOT a magical 30 days and then the revenue drops. The revenue drops slowly, or sometimes it lasts way more than a month.

I′m guessing the contract may have this issue in consideration, and gamesas may be unable to launch Dawnguard for other platforms until MS numbers reach certain point.

I have to agree with comments about simply letting the issue go and occupying time other ways. It's a little disappointing not having the DLC yet but not something to waste energy becoming enraged about. It'll be ready when it's ready, and there's nothing anyone can do to speed up the release of the content. At least PC players have access to mods which can keep them busy.

The angle that I had to think about was how great Morrowind, Oblivion, and "vanilla" Skyrim were (played a little Daggerfall, no Arena). The point is that Bethesda has given us some really epic games over the years along with some pretty juicy expansions. They gave the community access to modding tools and fans have developed amazing things (I still can't believe the complete conversions some people have done with these tools). Dissenting over an expected release date for one DLC struck me as personally silly, and I chilled out on the issue.

With the way they've been selling out to Microsoft, I can almost quarantee that the next TES game will not get modding tools...

Looking back at all previous 9 threads (some ~700 posts) I've seen a lot of misconception between Bethesda Softworks, and Bethesda Game Studios ...

As a dedicated Elder Scrolls enthusiast I'd just like to reiterate to those that didn't know already that Bethesda Game Studios (Todd Howard etc. etc.) are responsible for the making/ironing out the game itself and have no direct control over Dawnguard's apparent release date (whenever that might be), that responsibility falls under the directive board and marketing wing of Bethesda Softworks. If you all are looking for someone to blame about Microsoft's "exclusivity contract", and how "Bethesda do not care about their PC/PS3 fanbase anymore" I feel obligated to point your attention towards ZeniMax Media and Bethesda Softworks.

Todd Howard and Bethesda Game Studios make unbelievable games that are worthy of any man, I think we can all agree on that, but they didn't [censored] us over on Dawnguard (Todd just says what he's told to say, poor fellow).
Bugs and glitches however, is another issue entirely.

[On a side note I am well aware that this is my first post on gamesas's official forums but the amount of hate generated towards the developers (not the publishers) warranted a reply.]

I think Pete Hines made it pretty clear, they never made any announcement about Dawnguard coming out for PS3 or PC.

But they sure didn't take the time to correct any websites or reviews that stated it. They just happily let everyone believe it
would be coming out on PS3 and PC. To tell you the truth, I don't think there was a 30 day exclusive with Microsoft. I think it was
just an Exclusive Content with Microsoft, so PS3 and PC users will never get to play it, unless they go buy it for the XBOX.

I'm sure a lot of people have thought about this and many just don't wish to think its probably the truth, because A. It means
Bethesda has completely sold out and spit on PS3 and PC users, which makes them look even worse, then the entire fact
they left the entire Internet Community got more then 30 days without correcting reviews of Dawnguard that stated the 30 day
exclusive contract with Microsoft and that it would be released later for PS3 and PC. If that info is wrong, then they should
of said something about it more then a month ago.

Either way you look at it. Pete Hines did about the most horrible job at Public Relations imaginable. His either extremely poor
choices of PR or his entire lack of PR, lead hundreds of thousands of PS3 and PC fans to think it would be coming out for them
30 days after the XBOX and did not raise a finger until the day of, to mention, Oh yeah, We never planned to release it on any
other platforms.

I suspect this is becoming the Final Chapter of Elder Scrolls. This complete slap in the face to their fan base, selling out to Microsoft, rolling over and backstabbing the PC fan base that stuck with Elder Scrolls from when it was called Arena. Right up to the announcement of this most horrible MMO with a story line that makes no sense in any regard to the lore of Elder Scrolls over the last several decades.

It is quite clear that this company has lost its senses and no longer cares about the quality of their products or the long term series that
keeps people coming back, and having been an Elder Scrolls fan since Arena, through Daggerfall and up to Skyrim, I must say this is the saddest day in the gaming community in my opinion and feels like I have lost my faith in a dear friend who did the most unthinkable insult.

After posting this and reading the above post by Suss, I felt the need to reply to.
I am not blaming Todd Howard, that would make no sense. But when people say Bethesda they mean the whole company,
for how good can Todd Howard's games be if they are sold by incompetent people who sell them off as Microsoft Exclusives?
Todd Howard could go and make his greatest game ever that he would be written down in all of Gaming History for on a golden plaque surrounded by 16bit cheerleaders that border on censorship while being carried on the shoulders of Donkey Kong in the Gaming Halls of Fame, but what if that amazing game was turned into a Microsoft Exclusive content and sold through xbox live for more microsoft points then was previously stated, and was only sold to gamers who live in North America after months of advertisments about how great a game it was going to be without telling anyone it would be for Xbox only?
This is purely hypothetical, and the point is, it doesn't matter how good a game GAME STUDIOS makes if the marketing department screws it up so bad that hardly anyone gets to play it. Which is why I put all the blame on the person in charge of Marketing and Public Relations and right now the only one I can see from that department is Pete Hines.
