I think Pete Hines made it pretty clear, they never made any announcement about Dawnguard coming out for PS3 or PC.
But they sure didn't take the time to correct any websites or reviews that stated it. They just happily let everyone believe it
would be coming out on PS3 and PC. To tell you the truth, I don't think there was a 30 day exclusive with Microsoft. I think it was
just an Exclusive Content with Microsoft, so PS3 and PC users will never get to play it, unless they go buy it for the XBOX.
I'm sure a lot of people have thought about this and many just don't wish to think its probably the truth, because A. It means
Bethesda has completely sold out and spit on PS3 and PC users, which makes them look even worse, then the entire fact
they left the entire Internet Community got more then 30 days without correcting reviews of Dawnguard that stated the 30 day
exclusive contract with Microsoft and that it would be released later for PS3 and PC. If that info is wrong, then they should
of said something about it more then a month ago.
Either way you look at it. Pete Hines did about the most horrible job at Public Relations imaginable. His either extremely poor
choices of PR or his entire lack of PR, lead hundreds of thousands of PS3 and PC fans to think it would be coming out for them
30 days after the XBOX and did not raise a finger until the day of, to mention, Oh yeah, We never planned to release it on any
other platforms.
I suspect this is becoming the Final Chapter of Elder Scrolls. This complete slap in the face to their fan base, selling out to Microsoft, rolling over and backstabbing the PC fan base that stuck with Elder Scrolls from when it was called Arena. Right up to the announcement of this most horrible MMO with a story line that makes no sense in any regard to the lore of Elder Scrolls over the last several decades.
It is quite clear that this company has lost its senses and no longer cares about the quality of their products or the long term series that
keeps people coming back, and having been an Elder Scrolls fan since Arena, through Daggerfall and up to Skyrim, I must say this is the saddest day in the gaming community in my opinion and feels like I have lost my faith in a dear friend who did the most unthinkable insult.
After posting this and reading the above post by Suss, I felt the need to reply to.
I am not blaming Todd Howard, that would make no sense. But when people say Bethesda they mean the whole company,
for how good can Todd Howard's games be if they are sold by incompetent people who sell them off as Microsoft Exclusives?
Todd Howard could go and make his greatest game ever that he would be written down in all of Gaming History for on a golden plaque surrounded by 16bit cheerleaders that border on censorship while being carried on the shoulders of Donkey Kong in the Gaming Halls of Fame, but what if that amazing game was turned into a Microsoft Exclusive content and sold through xbox live for more microsoft points then was previously stated, and was only sold to gamers who live in North America after months of advertisments about how great a game it was going to be without telling anyone it would be for Xbox only?
This is purely hypothetical, and the point is, it doesn't matter how good a game GAME STUDIOS makes if the marketing department screws it up so bad that hardly anyone gets to play it. Which is why I put all the blame on the person in charge of Marketing and Public Relations and right now the only one I can see from that department is Pete Hines.
