PCPS3 Release Date Thread part 12

Post » Sat Nov 17, 2012 4:37 am

Just gonna go ahead and paste what I said in the other thread as I really have nothing else to add.

Fact is, the longer it takes for them to release it on PC the less inclined I feel to buy it. I'm already not very impressed by what I've read about it so far and the blatant disregard for folks who don't have Skyrim for Xbox is only making me want it less. Also this token "Well you guys have mods!" response I'm seeing in this thread is laughable. That implies console-users don't have a CK of their own because Bethesda didn't feel like giving them one. No, it's because of out-dated hardware that cannot support it.

At this point my only motivation for getting the DLC are the modding resources it'll provide and the fact that many future mods will probably use those resources, therefore making it necessary to have the DLC to use them. Anyway, it's not something I'm pulling my hair out over. However, I'm willing to bet Beth won't make nearly as much cash once they do decide to release Dawnguard for PS3 and PC because of the way they decided to handle this.

Check the first post by "Galumn" on that page; "http://cdr.thebronasium.com/app/211720 (DLC for Skyrim) was updated again yesterday. Come on, Beth, hurry the testing process up and release it already."

Interesting.

EDIT: To break it down more specifically, in the "View" tab it says; "DLCForAppID = 72850" . Here's Skyrim's store page; http://store.steampowered.com/app/72850/. So it all comes together now, 72850.

As the link itself says; "Valvetestapp". It's in testing, as the name suggests.

The only reason I'm going to buy Dawnguard at this point is for the ancient Falmer armour and the new Snow Elven architecture to stare at for a while.

We better.

Thinking this really deserves its own thread since it actually does reveal quite a bit, lol. Like... Dawnguard is already playable on the PC. Somewhere. Somehow.

But, should just keep it to this thread for now.

That's likely Valve doing the testing, until they switch over to their new system, Valve employees have to test the DLC (not that it actually works in game, but that it downloads and installs correctly on multiple systems without breaking the game).

Also, Beth probably are doing the same thing for Sony, who apparently are more obstructive. They probably want to sync release so no DLC for anyone until all paperwork done with.

Saddest thing is it will be released and all the so called Boycotters will have it up and running thinking a 10 min boycott was sufficient.

Not sure which way I will go - doesn't actually look all that interesting and I have all the steam sale purchases to keep me going. I'm kind of over Bethesda and their unique ability to keep customers who by any standard should have abandoned them by now.

Do what crap? I see NOTHING wrong with what they are doing. Just because they don't say the obvious "We will let you know" bit, doesn't mean they are walking all over us.

I WILL vote with my wallet by buying the DLC when it is released. I am not spoiled to the point where I feel I am entitled to everything.

http://www.penny-arcade.com/patv/episode/mass-effect-3-dlc

Basically sums up the logic behind day 1 DLCs. And it makes perfect sense. You may not agree with it, but that's why you don't buy it. Don't like something? Dont give in to it. The fact that people do give in, and a lot of people do only leads them to see that it is profitable. Game companies are a business after all.
I think the main reason, especially for the PC, is that the delay is completely arbitrary. They have the files sitting on their server, they're just refusing to release them. There PC has the required patch, the updated CK is ready to be released, and the Dawnguard.esm and .bsa files are literally there. Nothing needs to be done apart from to send them to Steam.

I'll bet you if they continue to wait someone is just going to attempt to hack into the servers.

I said attempt.

Only one way to send Bethesda a strong message from the PC/PS3 community.

Don't buy Dawnguard, simple as that.

The way they behave, it's pretty clear the pockets is where it hurts.
I'm TIRED of this sickly deals with Microsoft and their console, THE COMMUNITY doesn't gain [censored]!

You might as well give the DLC to only Americans first and leave the rest of the world out for 1+ month, that -is- how sick this is.
Or give the DLC to only dogs first and let the cats wait.

- We [censored] pay for the game! We play the [censored] game! Why should one group of people who bought the game get special deals the others don't get?
[censored] BIG MONEY CORPORATION! QQ
WHERE IS THE FAIRNESS?

I believe all man shall stand for fairness! Despite whatever it may be!
Fairness? We payed for SKYRIM, not the DLC. That $60 went towards a license for the game, period. You want the DLC, you need to wait and pay $20. You are entitled to NOTHING. You have no grounds to complain about anything, including the lack of information. Now if they said there would be 30 exclusivity of a patch, that would be something COMPLETELY different. DLCs are not patches, they are just extra content that required the core game to work. A plugin, add-on, extra, not required package outside of the main product.

We are now second citizen people, the money we spent on Skyrim is not worth as money that the Xbox 360 players spent on their game.
I only see greed and unfairness!

Who is the winners here? Not the community.
Who then? Bethesda of course, they profit somehow on these type of deals.

What do we do? We spend hours and hours frustrated because we are treated like second citizen people!

I say treat every gamer equally!

--

No wonder we have real life problems in the world with greed, corruption, special people get special deals and poor stay poor.

This is just a very small example, in the gaming industry. Money talks and the honest people will be split apart, no one is equally and shall NOT be treated equally - that is what Bethesda show us they believe! And every other company that follow their way!
Second citizens? We got the product we payed for. NO WHERE does that say it includes any infomration on if and when a DLC will be released. You payed for Skyrim, NOT any DLC.

We better.

What made you think Dawnguard wasnt playable on PC? Its literally just a BSA archive and an ESM plug-in. It literally works just like a mod, which Todd said actually work on consoles.

With everything that isn't being said by Bethesda, I just don't know if I'm going to bother with this dlc. I've been a TES fan since Daggerfall, and I think its unfortunate that Bethesda has decided to treat their IP this way.

If they are waiting for Sony's QA department to pass the patch and release it then it will be 2 weeks MINIMUM, SOCOM,Battlefield and loads of other games I play with regular patches usually have a wait time of around 2-4 weeks for a patch when it's in QA.

Hopefully the PC version isn't being held back for a synced release with PS3 because that would svck, and it looks like the PC version is pretty much ready.

Btw, from my previous experiences the PS3 patch will still be full of bugs when passed by SONY QA, ther're terrible at their job and will pass ANY patch that goes through them, it just takes time.

This would be horrible. I've been clinging to the hope that they might release it for the PC even if the PS3 version is still being ported.
