PCPS3 Release Date Thread part 13

Post » Sat Nov 17, 2012 6:48 am

I hope everyone can be civil about this subject. While it's perfectly fine to have a negative opinion about the lack of a solid release date, you have to express them in a civil and mature way. I do not want to see immature hostile posts :nono:

Anyway, the only official word we have as of now, is from http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1398818-inquiries-re-dawnguard-release/. So unfortunately we have to wait until there is more information.
We have not announced release plans for Dawnguard on platforms other than Xbox 360 (available worldwide). As soon as there's any new information to share, we'll let everyone know.

I think many are making a mountain out of a mole hill...this is not really a big deal.

Look i bought Dawnguard on the Xbox 360 (before i decided to move to the PC for Skyrim because im tired of all the bugs on the console version) Too make a long story short, while Dawnguard is "ok" its not a must have.....to be perfectly honest I thought it was a big let down. look im not saying Dawnguard was bad, it was a good DLC....but it was way over-hyped and many of you who haven't played it yet may be disapointed like I was.

i will say this however, PS3 users have gotten the shaft from day one....and its a shame too....

I'm fairly aware of how mediocre Dawnguard is. Mostly looking forward to the modding materials it'll provide. Of course I'm also interested in the vampire aspect of TES (and have been since the vampire mods for Morrowind expanded on it) so that's also a plus.

I don't see how PS3 owners have gotten the shaft involving Skyrim...if its do to the bugs they had to put up with in Skyrim. That's more sony's fault for making the PS3 so hard to develop for, a lesson I hope they have learned from.

p.s I believe the Moderator is playing Skyrim while he is working..

OK! Let's get some things clear:
  • First, please don't reply saying "It doesn't matter how much it is delayed because Dawnguard is mediocre." This has nothing to do with the quality of the product, and really desn't add any weight to an argumenent. Let's focus on something else.
  • Secondly, can we please not go on about how peple "Should have bought" the Xbox 360 verison or otherwise argue "X Version is superior to Y Version"? It only derails the topic, and causes mods to get a headache, and force users looking for legitimate things to wade through countless threads.
  • Pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.. No "Quit whining, it'll come when it comes." comments.
  • No spoilers, please. Don't think it needs to be said, but I digress.
Probably more, but I'm sure people get the idea:

What'd I'd love to hear is actual information or even theorycrafting on when the release date will be. I am personally in the ballpark of a late August release since the release of Borderlands 2 would shut down a lot of purchases. Anyway, what is everyone's thoughts?

I just made an account to add my name to the list of PS3 players that feel frusterated by the lack of even so much as a comfromation that Dawnguard will be released for PS3, and although Im not a PC player, they too deserve the respect of receving the info too.

Everybody knows that everone, even the ones that claim they wont, will buy this dlc when/if its released. I cant speak for everyone but I think the fanbase is pretty good to Bethesda. I know I am. Ive bought Morrowind, Oblivion, and Skyrim, twice infact. The first was just the game, then I loved it so much I ended up buying the collectors edition so I could have the extras. Even after the pre-order "burlap map" turned out to be complete bunk. I have been a dedicated fan and have promoted you guys endlessly to friends and family.

I completely messed my pants with excitement when I heard about Dawnguard. Then, of course, no surprise what so ever, I find out that X-Box gets it first... No sweat, Im used to that. But now, with the recent news of "We have not announced release plans for Dawnguard on platforms other than Xbox 360", really comes as a dissapointment, and frankly, a big slap in the face. The vagueness of that statement leaves us non x-box players wondering if we'll even get to experience the DLC. So please, forgive the people raging, for I think its only out of sadness and a feeling of betrayal, and let us know if we'll atleast be getting Dawnguard sometime in the future. Please.... Thank you.

I know it's been linked so many times, but reading this leads me to believe that none of the DLC will be avaialble for PC or PS3: https://twitter.com/DCDeacon/status/228527108681502720

I think it's pretty safe to say it will never come out?

Eh, Bethesda is a company and it'd be a really, really dumb move not to release it for other platforms and lose that potential revenue. Then again it really depends on how much money M$ paid for exclusivity and if it really does go beyond 30 days.

Yeah, I've read somewhere that Sony actually limits how many times the base game can be patched. Not sure if it's true or not, but it could explain why PS3 has been getting shafted when it comes to the lack of patches.

Also, as far as no announcement goes, it's likely because they have a lot of work to go through for the PS3 and PC versions, which has blurred their vision of a final release date for now. As a matter of fact, it is entirely possible that they are actually working on a new version of Dawnguard that aims to fix many, if not all the bugs contained in the 360 version, and then release that version for all platforms at once. They did say that they are currently looking into the bugs in Dawnguard. They did not confirm how they are going to fix the issues, however.

I wouldn't say that. Dawnguard was developed on the PC and since Bethesda is prepping the PS3 for 1.7, they are prepping it for Dawnguard.

I think it's pretty safe to say that it will come out later some time, as he later clarified that what he meant was simply that they didn't have any announcement regarding Dawnguard that day (yesterday).

But all consoles; in their basic forms are PCs, Darling. That doesn't mean anything.

Thanks for clearing that up. I am not familiar with Twitter and this link was floating around a lot.

Well, at least we WILL be able to play Dawnguard on a PC/PS3 at some moment in the future. Better playing it 60 days after Xbox release than not play it at all!

It does mean something. The game wasn't developed on the 360. It was developed on the PC and ported to the 360. Dawnguard information is in the menu as of 1.6. The new version of the CK had some Dawnguard info in it. It also isn't logical from a business standpoint for them to withhold the other versions of the DLC. If they made it on the PC, why would they hold on to it? It isn't going to make them any money sitting on their hard drives.

I suppose that is... true. I am more worried about the other games coming out in the same month (Guild Wars 2 anyone?) that may impact its performance and my attention =P.

Meh, I've never really into the original Guild Wars, but I think I will give GW2 a shot!
Then after I stop playing it hopefully Dawnguard will have already been released

I highly doubt they're fixing bugs, It would certainly go along way in improving their reputation though.

Like everyone else I thought that 30 day exclusivity meant that Dawnguard would release on other platforms 30 days later. I see that was not the case, but it's disappointing that the other kids got to play with the toy. We waited a month to hear "We have not announced Dawnguard for any other platform, nor given a timeline for any such news. If we have news, I promise I'd tell you." It would have been nice to hear that a month ago when the DLC was hyped up and everyone was looking forward to it. I've been playing Bethesda's games for a while especially TES series. I remember when people were posting links to pirated versions of Oblivion mods on these forums, and I don't think we are entitled to Dawnguard "now." I realize there is a lot that goes into it and DLC on consoles is pirated less. I just think this could have been communicated better to the fans.

I am hardly a Sony really devoted fan, and I honestly prefer the 360 and PC.(although i do have a ps3 as well). Having said that though, I fail to understand why people blame Sony. I agree that Sony perhaps should have made a console a bit more developer friendly if you will, but that doesn't excuse Bethesda. They made the choice to release it on the ps3 and this was not their first attempt at making a game for that console.(Fallout 3). If Bethesda honestly felt they were not capable of making a quality product on the ps3, then don't make it for that console. Simple as that. Before release Bethesda was saying Skyrim on ps3 and 360 had reached a good place of parity. Don't make comments like that if you can't deliver.

For those also blaming Sony for only allowing a certain amount of patches(not sure if this is even true), you have to realize they have let Bethesda release 5 patches already. Once again Bethesda should take some heat for this as well. They could have released a more functional game and not had to rely so much on patches to make the game more stable. The fact that the game is definitely much more playable since the patches proves that Bethesda pushed the game out the door too soon and could have released a much better product had it been delayed. I understand that patches are sometimes needed to fix bugs and glitches. Not to the degree that Bethesda relies on them though.

As for Dawnguard, I imagine it will release in late August, or early September. This is obviously just a guess on my part.

Reasons why I will no longer be buying Dawngaurd:
  • It took them 9 months to spit out their first DLC, they had plenty of time to convert this DLC to PS3 and PC (It isn't that big of a DLC, roughly 10 hours)
  • It is 20 dollars for 10 hours of gameplay...
  • They caved in to Microsoft and sold them a 30 day exclusive which is just insulting to PC and PS3 customers
  • Now 30 days are up, and no information on a release except "It might be release for PC and PS3, but so far there are no plans."
  • It is not even that good of a DLC.
I would have given my 20 dollars if we got it at the same time as xbox, and most likely still would have at the end of the 30 days, but at this point, no way, I have Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition on PC, Guild Wars, and Borderlands 2 to spend time on, no need to throw away 20 dollars on this.

I think Dawnguard will be out in 2 weeks or less on PC and maybe another 2-4 weeks later for PS3.
