People spelling names wrong

Post » Wed Jun 29, 2011 7:52 pm

My name is Sean. People usually jump to every other variation of the name first. Shawn, Shaun etc. etc.

George-ass is funny, though I hated when my friends used to make fun by mauling my name.

lol, they don't actually acknowledge that they're saying george-ass though.

Very few people can spell my last name correctly (it's of Polish origin) and everyone always seems to spell my name first name as Frances but it's actually spelled Francis, I go by Frank though.

My first and last name are misspelled constantly. They feel the need to forget a t in Matthew (why I mostly go by Matt now, which always seems to have 2 t's) and because son is more common than sen at the end of my last name.

It only really annoys me when it's on a document that's supposed to have my name. Like my Food Safe Level 1 certificate. I provided my name twice in easy to read printing, yet they still managed to spell my name wrong on the cursed thing.

My name is very common, first and last. I never have to be asked how to spell it. Sometimes I am asked about how to spell my middle name because there are actually accepted variations of it :P

I blame it on second-generation parents of immigrants who both grew up with names that they had to repeat and spell for everyone, all the time. They saved my brother and I lifetimes of torment.

I always thought 'Seamus' was pronounced 'See-mus' instead of 'Shay-mus'

Only thing that makes me chuckle are Mexicans who pronounce it "Yeff". I'm also surprised by the number of clerks or people in offices who want to spell it "Jeffery" instead of Jeffrey. How hard is it to keep the last "e" and the "r" straight? Its not like its a rare name.

My name is Chas and upon hearing it, people always, 100% of the time think that it's Jess because they evidently don't hear the "Ch" sound at the beginning. Also, when people spell it, they always put down a Z or perhaps two Z's, but seeing as my name is pronounced the exact same as "Chaz" I let that one slide because it's understandable.

My last name is murder for some people. It rhymes with floor, but they mispronounce every way possible.

Seth Mars. Can't really screw that one up. I did have someone spell my name Zeth once though..I laughed at them.

My mom's name is Dana Rolison and she often gets called things like Donna Rolieson. When I'm home I often answer the phone and say "No, there's no Donna living here".

You've been getting that a lot lately. You might want to get that checked out.

All the time, but there is a far more common spelling of my name. I only get annoyed at repeat offenders and those who often see it wrote down (friends on facebook for example have no excuse for spelling it wrong)

Iunno, my first name is Sam(uel) which is rather easy, nobody's messed up either spelling or pronunciation yet. My last name is easy to pronounce, but if I someone only knows how to pronounce it there seems to be a 50/50 chance of the k becoming a ck.

Doesn't annoy me because I'm used to it.

My name is Peyton. Pretty much everyone I meet for the first time spells it "Payton".
