Oh my god! This is coming along better than I expected! Words cannot express how much I need this! When do you think we could expect a release?

I'm hoping fix up the skin and modify the vacuum tubes a bit. Once that's done, I'll try to replace the Pip-Boy Readius model with this one. I can see myself doing this over the weekend. Keep an eye out for it :P

That's great news! And I've been keeping my eye on this for a while now, so you bet I'll be waiting eagerly!

Well, I've managed to model a grate. The skin is pretty much done, I may add some more wear and tear to it later -- But I'm more concerned about getting it to replace the Pip-Boy Readius right now. I've been messing around in Nifscope, but I think this new model may require quite a bit of rigging for the buttons and what not. Is there anyone out there who can help me out?

Shoot, there goes my pants. Good thing its night time, I can take these off and use a blanket to cover myself or something.

Seriously, words cannot express how awesome that it, and I would help you out if I could. Not enough experience at the moment. :(

I just can't wait til this becomes available. Between the Good-Ol-Pipboy, the Pipboy 3500 for the Readius, and this? Gonna be hard to decide which one to wear, but I'll be leaning towards the classic. Amazing job so far!

Looking good. Hoping for a wristband version though, my reasoning as usual being the very first thing I saw after purchasing Fallout. The manual, clearly stating that the Pip-Boy is wrist-mounted. ^_^

Oh wow! It's perfect! Unfortionately I never figured out how to get meshes into the game either. Maybe you should make a thread asking for tips on how to do it, surely someone who knows will stumble accross it.

Well, I've been having some trouble on rigging this thing. But I'll eventually figure it out with some help/tutorials. I'm sorry to say that I have to delay the release for a bit -- at least until December. I have 3 essays to write. Once those are done, back to working on the Pip-Boy :)

I dunno if you looked through the thread (or even the first post, actually) -- but I've already finished the skin. :)

I don't suppose you'd consider releasing the NIF for people to play with.

I was looking through the Readius nif yesterday and I'd love to see if I actually understand how it works by applying it to your model.

I would prefer keep the model private until release. But if you know what you're doing, PM me and I might send you the model or something.

Yeah, I'd probably do the same. Had to ask, though.

I was just examining the Readius version yesterday and noticed that the buttons all seem to have specific names for their nodes. I was curious as to whether the naming was what controlled their functions.

From what I've figured out, some of the duplicates are for things like alpha and light maps -- The duplicates of buttons, for example, are so that they'll light up when selected and so on. It's likely that everything is attached to seperate bones of a skeleton.

It's difficult to know for sure though. It's interesting how you can click the buttons with your mouse on the Readius despite them being in a different location than on the original Pip-Boy 3000.

Well, the buttons in both the original and the Readius version share the same name....like: PipBoyButton03

In Oblivion the name of a node often seemed to designate how that node was treated in the game, so I was going to see if your buttons and such could be made into individual nodes and then given matching names and see what resulted.

I originally thought it must be using an XML overlay, but it does appear that the model itself contains the triggers.

edit: I wonder if it will be a problem that your model doesn't have a rad needle?
