Pony Effect Thread #63

4800 and 96%, I hope I get the best ending.

5000 guarantees it. 4000 gives you a shot, but you'll need to do certain things properly in the last "standoff."

Honestly, there's not much of a difference. "Perfect" just gives you one extra quick cutscene that doesn't make much sense anyway. The rest of the disappointment remains unchanged.

Well I hope it's enough.

I'm good at making decisions.

Kinda regret bringing Prothean Particle Rifle to the last battle though. I took it because of its replenishing ammo, but it's way too powerful so the fight is a cakewalk.

About 6500, just staring the final mission. But for some reason my readiness percent is again 0%, so epic fail is inevitable

Thats about what I had, then I did about 2 hours of multiplayer to get the ems over 5000.
and yeah, imported save games that have gone all the way from ME1 definitely have an advantage in war assets
Sounds like you really need to play some multiplayer to get the best ending guaranteed then. Which is a bit annoying because if I want to replay the series in 5 years or so I'd expect there aren't going to be that many players left.

It's not absolutley necessary to play multiplayer to get the best ending but it makes it a hell of a lot easier.

I really think the guns in themselves are over powered in ME3. I just finished ME1 and it took awhile to get a decent one with mods to kill fast. Even the beginner Avenger with upgrades rips up enemies fast on this game, It is almost too easy IMHO. As for points I had well over 4k when I was playing. Yet all the moaning going on at Bioware forums. People whinning that they can not get over 4k is just laziness IMO. They are probably skipping all the side missions and then complaining about a crappy ending.

The only thing that matters is your EMS. Readiness just gives you a boost to that.

The ending is bad no matter how much EMS you had.

I did what I considered to be an extremely through playthrough of ME1 and ME2, and I ended up with about 3600 ems before the cerberus base

Yeah I thought so too, just finished it last night. All 3 endings make very little sense and I feel like my choices throughout the series meant nothing. and the extra bit you get for 4000+ ems is so not worth it.

I'm very close to the ending and it looks pretty grim.

Go for pistols mate. If anything in Mass Effect is overpowered is ME1 pistols. Taking down Saren with Spectre pistol takes only a minute or two if you can shoot straight.

End spoiler:
Spoiler
The "indoctrination theory" currently makes the most sense. I assume that Bioware will release a DLC finishing the game. The ending is depressing. Not because bad [censored] happens, just because there is absolutely no closure and it makes no sense. And if the indoctrination theory is true (which I personally strongly believe, as it cleans up a lot of the plotholes in the Anderson-Illusive Man-Shepard conversation) it means the game was released without any ending.

Opps. Hadn't noticed the separate thread for the end.

The ending where you destroy all synthetics is the only one where shepherd lives if you had 4000 or more EMS

I finished the last bunch of side quests and I think I scanned most of the valuable stuff. I'm now at 7081 total military strength. Not bad. :)

I don't understand why the Protheans used the Citadel as the capital of their empire, the council races I can see as it's a neutral place but an Empire where the Protheans are clearly the top-dogs? Why wouldn't their capital just be on their home planet, you know, with their already existing inferstructure, manufacturing etc... Just doesn't make sense.

Resale value maybe?

Just rolled in to a battle with Black widow X, Revenant X, Paladin X, Claymore X and a Tempest X.

Decided to start on my Insanity playthrough today. Wish me luck.

And wish my sanity luck, because this is the third time I'll have gone through that horrible ending.

Oh yeah, that was one of my favorite parts of ME2. The banter between EDI and Joker is hilarious.

The Protheans thought exactly the same way as current species do. They thought that the Citadel and Relays were built by their predecessors and conveniently left for them to use when they vanished. The Protheans took over the Citadel because it was convenient.

Perhaps the Prothean home world lacked resources.
Spoiler
As Javik says the species that achieve galactic domination do not do it themselves - it's just part of the cycle that predecessor species assist the coming species to utilize mass effect technology and thus prepare them for the Reapers' dinner.
The Asari, for one, were heavily assisted by the Protheans and would perhaps not achieved space flight for hundreds if not thousands of years without the Protheans. The whole Asari history and technology was directed by the Protheans.
