Pony Effect Thread #63

If you're going to play soldier then you can ignore the weight limit. The only time Adrenaline rush is really useful is when you have low health and the enemy charges you. As soldier it's best to carry all of the weapons you can so you don't run out of ammo.

Soldier can definitely ignore the weight limit, Adrenaline Rush is the only good power they get and AR feels worse in this game then it did in ME2. The others probably 2-3, definitely 2 maximum for Adept.

Hmm. My only experience with Soldiers is in multiplayer (completely different than normal play, of course). In MP, I've been keeping the weight reasonably low (Mattock + pistol) and spamming the heck out of Concussive Shot. It's handy for the knockdown & kicking guys out of cover. (And then there's my Krogan soldier, who just carries a pistol. And practically fires off more Carnages than rounds of ammo.)

I accidentally played one mission with my soldier with only a pistol equipped. It was kinda funny how fast I could spam concussive shot.

But while I love that ability, it's pretty much the only power a soldier uses. I barely use Adrenaline Rush myself. Switching ammo types and throwing grenades doesn't have cooldowns I think, so keeping your weight down as a soldier is not all that useful.

I pretty much used Marksman late in the game with Concussive Shot being a close 2nd. I felt that Marksman was better then Adrenaline Rush due to the incresed DPS.

For me the biggest annoyance with the game currently is that the spacebar does so much. Same problem in Mass Effect 2, basically.

It's really annoying that the button for taking cover and jumping over cover is also used for sprinting, activating items and talking to NPCs, and reviving squad mates. It happens quite often that I try to sprint around a corner and accidentally stick to cover, or I try to revive a downed squadmate and stick to cover instead. Or when I stick to cover while trying to pick up an item on a counter.

It seems unnecessary. A dedicated activate and sprint key would've been very convenient. I guess it was a console controller limitation and they didn't bother to separate some of that stuff for the PC.

Oh, another annoying thing: Vague quest descriptions. Sometimes they don't tell you where to go exactly, or they won't inform you whether or not you already picked up the item the quest required you to get. So you go to this star system to scan the planet where the item is supposed to be and it turns out the item had been in your inventory for hours, waiting to be delivered to someone on the Citadel.

Ha! So I finally beat the Reapers on silver but what all got slaughtered at the extraction point... except for the Vanguard that was glitched right under it. Now we may not have died if he hadn't glitched, but since he did glitch it was impossible for us to lose.

So here's a sentence I never thought that I'd say: Thank you, glitches, thank you.

I assume you were going for the Op. Goliath Challenge? If it wasn't for Ledgend1221, I'd still be getting mad at horrible randoms who think it's perfectly sensible to bring themselves into silver while under rank 10 with their level 5 soldier.

And who is Ledgebd1221? Like I said, we won because of a glitch, although without the glitch we may have won also.

Hes one of the guys who are listed in the Xbox 360 gamertags in the 1st post. I don't doubt that you would have. I just happened to project my frusteration of people playing the MP at the same time I was responding to you.

Since I'm on my second playthrough of Mass Effect 2, I was wondering if anyone knew what that chair in the corner of the room where Kasumi stays on the Normandy, is? It looks like it has a giant sphere around it, and its lights resonate the color pie.

I think it's some sort of entertainment device. It's never explained what it is (it makes a reappearance in mass effect 3, where it still goes unexplained), but from the looks of it, I'd say it's a video game console.

Well...
Spoiler
I saved the Rachni on Noveria, which isn't looking to good in hindsight. I saved the Rachni Queen a second time, and let's hope they can stay saved, and that the ravagers are gone. I also cured the genophage, so sad for Mordin to die :cold: I am trying to do all the side quests I can to get military strength up. Time will tell if I made the right decisions. And those little boy dreams are weird...
Edit: Cerberus attacks the Citadel?! :bolt:

Spoiler
I killed the Rachni both times I saw them. They are even worse than the Krogan and are absolutely irrelevant to the war effort.

As for Mordin - I shot him. He was such a brilliant scientist but made the mistake of letting his heart do the talking when the real things came. The Krogan - like Rachni - are a liability to the Galaxy and should be kept under a boot.

That feeling when you are in Multiplayer, have 42000 score, then the only capable member besides you leaves, thus you are alone with two noobs and lose at the end of 10th wave.

70k experience. Instead of the 200k+ that I would have got if we won.

I wish I was that lucky most of the time. More like for me: I was the only competent player of the 4 and carried us to wave 10 with a 60,000 point lead on the next highest guy.....then I run out of rockets while there are two banshees in front of me.

Or last night.... finally cleared round 6 tasks (some other members screwing around instead of helping), and have used consumables to survive getting the rest down - when the game host leaves, restarting the round so we have to do it again. :wallbash:

(edit: other wacky thing I ran into in MP yesterday.... had a few MP matches with three people in the ~120 rank range and one guy with ~350  And he must have played a huge number of games, since he had the lowest score among the four of us at the end of each round.)
