Pony Effect Thread #63

I don't understand why the Protheans used the Citadel as the capital of their empire, the council races I can see as it's a neutral place but an Empire where the Protheans are clearly the top-dogs? Why wouldn't their capital just be on their home planet, you know, with their already existing inferstructure, manufacturing etc... Just doesn't make sense.

It could have something to do with its location, or the fact that it is not their home word. They can rule and judge over the entire empire (multiple planets) fairly from an uncompromised position.

Also, the Protheans were not the only species in their empire. The name "Prothean" was just a general name for everyone living in the Empire, much like in history "Roman" is used to refer to people who lived outside the city, no matter where in the Empire.

Not at the start though, at the start they were just a cruel empire. Which is my point does the government of an empire move itself from it's home-world onto a suspect alien space station that nobody knows how it works. Even in the present, people just "accept" that the Keepers keep everything working, seems needlessly stupid to me.

The only thing that matters is your EMS. Readiness just gives you a boost to that.

Yes, but anything multiplied with zero equals zero :hehe: That seems to be some strange bug i have that clears up after restart

Spoiler
Didn't have renegade points for the final option with the Illusive man (), and didn't have enough assets for the "best" eding either, but atleast it was enough for only the Reapers get vaporized ^_^

I had around 6900 EMS (100%) at the end. Missed a small number of the sidequests.

fight, near the missile trucks. How did people get rank X guns? Highest I saw seemed to be V. (my party for the final battles was me, ~55 Infiltrator w/Widow V & Phalanx V; Liara w/Arc Pistol & some ultralight SMG; Garrus w/either a Raptor or a Revenant & something else.)

Had no trouble with that with Paladin V and Javelin V (and Locust V, but i didn't need that). Garrus had Sabre V and Raptor V, Vega Revenant V and Claymore V. Poor things didn't know what hit 'em. Because i used cloaked headshots :ninja:

Ended up having to try it a few times. But now I remember the other complication....
Spoiler
the periodic Reaper cannon shots flying down the street. Or was that only on the other waves? Either way, I spent an awful lot of time on that section of the street.

Didn't end up buying any of the Spectre weapons. And I wasn't a fan of the Javelin.... tried it in the shooting range (great idea, putting that in the game), and I just didn't like the delay between click and fire.

The charge-up time makes it a bit tricky to use, but it's scope highlights enemies trough walls and it shots penetrate quite thick cover. Without mods :ooo: Also it's reload time is almost exactly the same as fully evolved cloak's, so being able to take every shot invisible at enemies behind cover makes it a perfect weapon for my stealth assassin

After a bit of laughter and seething on the Ending thread, I think I'm ready to give my ME3 save another go... Hope that bloody camera doesn't interfere again.

What weight limit would you recommend? I kept it pretty low with my first playthrough as a Vanguard, carrying only the Vindicator V and Katana V. My next playthrough is Soldier.

I played a "Heavy", i had Revenant, Claymore and Black Widow. Way over weight limit, but it's not like you need to use powers much with a soldier anyway.

Soldier can carry quite a lot of weapons, especially if you spec into it. If you aren't planning on spamming adrenaline rush constantly, you can pretty much carry along the biggest gun you want and do well.

Carry what you will use. I've never once found as an Adept thinking "Hmm... do I need more guns?" Ammo is plentiful. Sticking with two should do just fine.

Just a quick note though. If you're doing an insanity run, you WILL run into ammo problems since enemies have quite a lot of health. Ammo drop rates seem to decrease as difficulty goes up was well, so it might be helpful to carry along an extra weapon or two.

On the Mars mission on my Insanity soldier, I ended up running out of ammo for both my AR (chakram launcher) and heavy pistol (predator) before finding more.

If you're going to play soldier then you can ignore the weight limit. The only time Adrenaline rush is really useful is when you have low health and the enemy charges you. As soldier it's best to carry all of the weapons you can so you don't run out of ammo.

What are you doing to use up so much ammo? I never ran out of ammo ever. Granted I am an adept, but still. I guess maybe as a Soldier you might want more then.

I think it was mostly because I kept missing with the Chakram launcher. That travel time does a lot to screw you over, especially on Insanity.

insanity is a major disappointment on this one. at least in ME2, you had to work on their shields and armour, in ME3 they just get more hit points which means you can get by with little or no effort. Haven't died once. I've noticed Liara is very OP this time around. She has virtually no cooldown and warp and singularity can easily be spammed.

The only issue I've had with insanity was when i encountered my first atlas. Took me around 20 mins and that was only because i went to Eden Prime with a rubbish gun early doors.

I had an interesting conversation with Garrus about the events on Tuchanka regarding the Genophage, which made me wonder.
Spoiler
I confessed to him that I tricked the Krogan into believing I had cured the Genophage when I actually hadn't. In Mass Effect 1 I killed Wrex, so it was Wreav I had to trick. Garrus said that Wreav was stupid enough to fall for it, but that Wrex probably wouldn't have fallen for it.

If I hadn't killed Wrex in the first game, I believe he takes Wreav's place in the storyline. Does that mean if you don't kill Wrex in ME1, and try to trick him into thinking you cured the Genophage in ME3, he won't fall for it and you lose some krogan support?

Wrex initially falls for it, but eventually realizes it's a trick and calls you out on it later in the game. He'll pull Krogan support for the war effort when that happens.
