Pony Effect Thread #64

I use powers too much to use anything but a pistol in MP. My usual loadout is a Phalanx + Tempest, with the Tempest as my backup. I'm usually the top scorer, except when there's a Krogan on the squad. They tend to steal most of my kills.

On that note: Krogan, overpowered or just fine?

That feeling when you're stuck with two noobs, the only capable member besides you quit/lost connection before fight starts.

Thankfully this time, I'm as a Vanguard, and have to single handedly have to beat them all (Bronze battle).

In the end I got 68,000 experience, the second guy 11,000 and the last one 6,000. You have no idea how fun it was to cap the 4 computers solo.

To me this finally decided that Vanguard is by far the best class in the game.

No, but playing MP nets you Credits which you use to buy packages with gets you more MP characters.
The more experienced your MP trooper is the more you can customise him/her, as far as I know.

You start with humans for all classes, but can for example get Krogan Soldier, Turian Sentinel and so on.

Time to bring up some unfinished characters from Mass Effect 1. Yay.... Not like it's my 100th time doing it.

...for the MP characters. At the start, you can only play Male and Female Human for each MP class. And the only appearance modding you can do is main armor color & tint. Getting further unlocks can give you the other two races, and will then unlock further appearance customization (secondary color, typically the under-armor; armor pattern + color; lighting color).

Humans tend to be the most powerful IMO because they start with good skills. For Vanguards Humans are, if I recall, the only race that gets Nova which is a must-have second strike for Biotic Charge. Biotic Charge recharges your Barrier and Nova uses it to discharge impact. Wait ~two seconds for BC to reload, then repeat. You can stay alive just by punching people, essentially. When you reload your barriers every two seconds you are just invulnerable to most enemies.

I was playing with a friend of mine, just the two of us a bronze match against Cerberus last night on the Giant map. He went down on wave 10 with 3 assault troopers, and engineer, and a phantom left. Somehow I was able to take them all out myself. I was playing a krogan sentinel and running for my life from the phantom most of the time until I went to a corner and waited. Sure enough the phantom stepped through the door and rushed me head on, bad idea by the phantom whom I think is still flying from being skull bashed in the face by a krogan in full charge. After the Phantom went down it was simple to take out the rest.

On wave 11, man the krogan berserk really showed its beauty, meleed 3 assault troopers, and before I knew it, Cerberus troops were flying all over the place. Once you go into Berserk mode, a Krogan is nigh unstoppable

Same here, athhough I was hoping for the Valiant Sniper Rifle myself. I think the pistol was the most common drop. I've run into only people with it.

My friend got a Valiant from beating the reapers on Silver. That thing is so overpowered I really just have to sit back and watch

Vanguards on Gold are annoying as hell for me.
They like to charge phantoms and pyros and banshees like its all they can do.
It is my duty as Medic/Objective/DPS to rescue them. Stop freakin' dying!

Figured I would post it here instead of at the ending topic since very little of it was about the ending.

So tired of the bug where you aren't able to use any abilities.

I'm not sure how many times I've had to restart the game because it was literally impossible to win a fight without my or my squads abilities.

Vanguarding is serious business. One mistake and you die. No mistakes, and you just made first blood by wiping out the whole enemy spawn (or most of it, in higher levels) without a scratch.

My battles always start with me wiping out the first wave, as long as there are no other Vanguards.

P.S. Vanguards are the best at taking out Pyros. I wouldn't go against a Banshee, but Pyros fall pretty quick. BioCharge takes out their shields, Nova knocks them over and Heavy Melee finishes the job. I picked the "mass" perks for both skills so I can take out two Pyros at a time.

http://blog.bioware.com/2012/03/21/4108/ Our first real true gain! Our movement has made a difference, it's so vague though I'm unsure what to make of it. I'll beleive it when I see it, I see no reason to let up until we get something concrete. All of you out there holding the line, please do continue.

I like where this is going. I'll probably post a more in-depth opinion in the Endings thread.

TBQH, Krogans are pretty bad. There just too big, they can't roll, and on higher difficulties, the Melee-Specialized Krogans will see more times than not, being crushed by Altus, smashed by a brute, or skewered by a banshee.

I was looking foward to him reviewing it. This should be funny....and very accurate.

I'm coming to the steady conclusion that you play almost exclusively on Bronze. Most Vanguard tactics you mention tend to go out the window on the higher difficulties. The rush-smash technique may work throughout Bronze, but it won't help you much on silver once you begin running into the barrier'd enemies. Forget gold - everything will destroy you faster than your shield can recharge even if you have Perk 6-2 of BC.

I have ME1 DDL'd onto my Xbox. My question is; is there any way to delete my completed playthroughs? I've checked my storage devices and they are not there so I can only assume its stored within the game itself, anyone k ow if it's possible to get rid of 'em.

I had assumed that I would have gotten something for beating the Reapers on Silver last Sunday, but nothing seems to have appeared. Except for the Victory Pack, which gave my an M-76 Revenant (Which has got to be one of the coolest names for a weapon ever).

Mass Effect 3 could be a much more better game,it had much more potential.
After I finished playing it,I decided to read that leaked story script that was leaked months ago,and it was an eye opening experience.
Combining the info of the leaked script with Bioware's announcements I came up to the conclusion that this game was to be much more better if corporal greed hadn't touch it.
Let me explain.

Spoiler

* Some players managed to decrypt Mass Effect 3's files and found the mesh, textures, and audio files of a Prothean.

(Which means that there was meant to be at least one Prothean inside the main game)

* In the Art Book of Mass Effect we get to see concept art of The Illusive Man in a form we haven't see in the game.It is a monster form, and in the description text it says that initially there was a different plot, where he would be the Final Boss.

(So it is confirmed that the initial ending was different,in the Official Artbook.)

* In the "Final hours of Mass Effect 3" app that is out for ios devices,it is stated again that Mac Walters changed the ending of the game, because he thought that the initial ending was ''too gamey''.

(Second confirmation that the ending was changed.)

*The leaked script predicted about 80% the actual story content we get at the final game.

(That practically confirms that it was real and not faked.)

*The leaked script that was leaked months before the Artbook or the App came out, states that The Illusive Man was indeed intended to be the Final Boss of the game, and that this Boss Fight would be the last gameplay section of the game.

(That is also confirmed by the apps)

*The leaked script stated that the Catalyst that the Crucible needed to fire was the last Prothean alive, and that he was to be found in The Illusive Man's base,in some kind of life supporting stasis pod.

(So there was a Prothean planned to be a part of the main game after all)

*Bioware decided that a living Prothean would be very interesting, enough to be a good day 1 dlc,and thus decided to make him a dlc squad member.

(Which basically means that since the Prothean turned from Major Main Plot character to just a squad member dlc, they had to come up with a new person to be the Catalyst)

*The writter of Mass Effect 3 has very few time left to find a new Catalyst. He had to be special, someone the player's haven't met yet,but no lore species is left unseen up to that point.

(So he comes up with the idea of creating a character which his nature is yet completely unknown to the lore of the game and to the players)

*Other interesting questions come up though.Who will he be ? What will be his species ? Where did he lived up to that point and how is he still alive ? Why to be the key in destroying the Reapers ?

(And thus he came up with the idea of an A.I. that is living forever, and to answer where he lives,he places him in the already known Citadel, and because he couldn't find an answer to why he wants to destroy the Reapers,he decides to not make him want to destroy them at all,but makes him controlling the Reapers.)

*But then the question of what was his purpose for controlling the Reapers emerge. To answer that, the writer ripped off the movie I,Robot starring Will Smith.

(In that movie robots where programmed to protect humans but their flawed A.I. logic made them anolyze that if humans kept evolving would reach a point where they would bring an end to their species by their own actions,so robots started killing humans to protect them.)

So,Mass Effect 3's ending is what it is because they decided to exclude a character of Major Importance to the plot so they can sell him as a DLC,and thus had to re-write the whole ending, having only 3 months in their hands for finding up the plot, and doing stuff like creating new 3d models, recording new voice files, making new animations, etc.

But that's not all.
Reading the leaked script I also discovered that lot of content didn't made it to the game, presumably because Bioware was too busy experimenting with the Mass Effect FPS and Mass Effect 3's multiplayer aspect.
So a number of Priority Missions like one to prove that the political party Terra Prima works for Cerberus,Plot Characters like a female Cerberus Chief Cyborg, and Roamable Areas like Omega space station didn't made it to the final game.

If this game was given 1 more year of development time or the developers weren't busy making multiplayer and FPS,and if they didn't wanted to have day 1 dlc,it would be a much much better game,in my opinion at least.

What packs contain Medi Gel for multiplayer?

A week ago I would have said the Equipment pack, but that was a limited time thing. Now it's just all of them. Each pack contains 1-2 types of random consumables. The number of each depends on the type. The recruit pack contains 1, the veteran pack contains 3, and the spectre pack contains 5 (or 6, can't quite remember)

It's a random chance. The 5k and 20k packs tend to have 2 cards for the four basic consumables, so it all depends on your luck

What about the 60000 Spectre pack? Also, do you lose all weapons after you promote a character?
