I just deleted my data for Mass Effect 3, I'll be trading it back in tomorrow and putting the store credit I get from Gamestop towards Witcher 2, now there's a game company that's going to treat me right. Shutting down the charity is the straw that broke the camels back for me, I will never buy another EA game as long as they are in business and that includes all of their developers including Bioware.
It's tough for me to do this, I loved Mass Effect 1, would give it a 10/10 rating. I loved Mass Effect 2 as well even with my problems with the lack of an inventory, loss of RPG elements and the dreaded Planet Scaning game. Mass Effect 2 gets a 9.5/10 from me, I loved the missions especially the final one and the loyality missions were well done. Mass Effect 3, the highs can't make up for the problems that the game has. It gets an 8/10 from me but the ending ruins any interest that I have in the franchise because your choices don't matter in the end and the autodialoge makes me sick as an RPG player. I can excuse a bad ending from other games like Skyrim or Fallout 3 but not Mass Effect 3 where the story is the main emphesis.
Shutting down the charity is a strange move considering the explanation I saw in one thread was that it was being closed because of "lies about us buying reviews". I'm guessing this is the point that EA's legal team has waded in, though I can't help feeling that it's not a good PR move. Well, not that either staying tight-lipped or being vague and evasive were a good idea either, things which led to the crescendo of speculation in the first place.
Definitely not a good PR move at all, this one will come back to bite them. I'm done with EA.
