Pony Effect Thread #64

Post » Mon May 14, 2012 9:52 am

what I've never heard explained satisfactorily is *why* the reapers destroy all life in the universe every so often. I seem to remember the relays were placed by them.

Are they just playing a real-life sims game over tens of thousands of millenia?
The ending answers your question, but it's not a good answer. Relatively filling, but full of nonsense.
Suffice to say the rage over ME3's ending is greatly justified.

Anybody have a link to that "yo dawg" picture? I think it sums it up more eloquently than the babbling at the end does.

Edit: Google to the rescue, http://i1001.photobucket.com/albums/af134/gnosblax/yodawgme.jpg. Spoilers, obviously. Kinda.

That apparently was disclosed in a book. Never read any of them (nor am i going to) so no clue what happened during the six months. That was the case in ME2 too
Spoiler
the way Liara and Feron recovered Shepards body was told in a comic. Never read that either, so that's another mystery for me :shakehead:

Theres also an origin of the Illusive man as well.

Spoiler
During the turian wars the turians being Saren and his brother found a reaper artifact, he came in contact with it as well as the illusive man who had been sent on a mission during the war to check out what the turians were doing on this planet. The turians took the artifact mainly Desolas and Saren, his people became indoctrinated, of course this was where Saren was obviously started his indoctrination also the turians hand the illusive man over to he's commander who was general williams, maybe her father.

Desolas,Sarens brother takes the aritifact to palaven to try and indoctrinate the whole population, but then the illusive man in confinement in a cave finds another artifact on Palaven that had been sealed up by the turian, then he convinces Saren that what Desolas is doing is wrong, and they destroy Desolas and the artifact and save Palaven, but Saren has already been contaminated and the illusive man moreso.

The comic of the retrieval of Shepards body.

Spoiler
Even though most of this can be posted together from Me 2, Liara has hired mercs to help her find shepards body, she lands on Omega where she meets Feron who was sent there by the illusive man, which he doesnt tell Liara, he tell her he has a lead, they get attacked by the blue suns who are hired by the shadow broker, then Miranda shows up and ambushes the blue suns letting Liara and Feron escape, Miranda then tells Liara that they are after shepards body as wel and they can help, and then Miranda, introduces her to the Illusive man, who then explains why they want shepard because, shepard is a great example of humanity and a strong symbol, and then explain that the collectors have hired the shadow broker to get shepards body as well, and hires Liara to retreive shepards body, then later Feron explains about cerebus, they follow after shepards body, and retreive it and hand it over to cerebus and the rest is history.

And did we ever find out what was so important about the planet or whatever is was behind the Illusive man, bioware carried on how important it was and that you would find out what it was and its relevance.

So if the mass relays were created by casper the freindly and his buddies, then basically it would have been to assist, races with limited space travel to get longer range space travel to then meet more advance civilisation then only to be killed by the reapers, when it would have been better to not advance and just keep your stone axes and hide in a hole, since they dont touch evolving races, since no race had intergalactic travel without the mass relays then basically the reapers were setting up every race up to be killed since the reapers were the only ones with the power of intergalactic travel.

Spoiler
I don't understand how the Crucible still exists, so every race has been building it in all the cycles? How come it's always abandonnned? The Reapers clearly don't know where it is so unless every cycle has just starved to death on their rather conveniently shortly after the Reapers leave I don't understand how it hasn't been finished.

It's the plans for the Crucible that continue to exist, not the Crucible itself. Each cycle finds the previous cycle's plans and tries to build it as a last ditch effort to defeat the reapers. Each cycle imrpoves upon the design, hiding copies of the plans within datavaults for later cycles to find.

Ingame they get the plans, they build the crucible, thats why your sending so many people to the location where their building it and as part of your war assets, every race adds to the plans, they research a way to destroy the reapers, and the plans have been added to but then they found the peice that was missing was the catalyst but didnt know what it was, which was stupid since who could you design something piece by piece to only realise your missing something that you have no idea what it is.

That's true. But Mass effect 3 covers several months worth of time (though it doesn't feel like that)

Its like the A team if youve ever seen the show, they get bits and peices and got to an ad break and they have a m1 Abrams tanks they cobbled together, or if youve seen Team America world police.

The hours approaching, just give it your best
You've got to reach your prime.
That's when you need to put yourself to the test,
And show us a passage of time,
We're gonna need a montage (montage)
Oh it takes a montage (montage)

Show a lot of things happing at once,
Remind everyone of what's going on (what's going on?)
And with every shot you show a little improvement
To show it all would take to long
That's called a montage (montage)
Oh we want montage (montage)

And anything that we want to go from just a beginner to a pro,
You need a montage (montage)
Even Rocky had a montage (montage)

(Montage,montage)

Anything that we want to go from just a beginner to a pro,
You need a montage (montage)
Oh it takes a montage (montage)

Always fade out in a montage,
If you fade out, it seem like more time
Has passed in a montage,
Montage

Is every multiplayer match like 20 minutes? I want to get my readiness up, but I don't want to have to spend 20 minutes to get it up by only 5%

It depends on how effective your squad is, but yeah, you'll be there a while simply because a full match requires sitting through 11 waves.

Why do people in multiplayer refuse to use rocket launchers? I just watched my entire team get killed on the final objective in Silver because I was the only one who bothered with them.

I think that a lot of people forget that they exist or want to save them for later. Of course the final round is is the one round where you shouldn't hold back with those things.

Did they have ammo for them? I'm pretty sure the rocket launcher is shown on your back even if you don't have any ammo for it.

edit: I guess you can't know that, but still, they might not have actually had ammo for it.

At least one guy did. He used it once when everyone else was dead, and that was it.

Then yeah, that's just idiocy. Maybe people forget about them? If I'm not mistaken, the rocket launcher isn't part of the weapon cycle and needs to be selected via the number keys.
