Texture Loading Issues

Post » Mon May 14, 2012 12:12 pm

What were the details? Did they mention anything about a time frame that we can expect this in?

It said they found a solution that could "help" with the problem and it would roll out with the next title update. Wasn't very encouraging to me. Hopefully they'll post back with something more concrete.

It wasn't when I clicked on it a second ago.

I suspect Bethesda tomfoolery.

I saw it too. There was a new sticky from GStaff but it was taken down.

Assuming Bethesda seriously meant what they stated in their post, even after they deleted it, what time range does 'next title update' imply? A week, a month?

It better be soon.

As much as I love TES, I hate horrible PS1 textures much more.

Most definitely not a month, but probably not a week either. It really depends on how long it takes Microsoft to certify the update.

Yeah, typical Bethesda stuff. They have no clue what they′re doing most of the time. Headless chickens. I′m sorry, but this bug kinda takes away their whole "I play it on 360, where I play most games" thing. To somebody only watching the trailers and screenshots, the game must seem like a total scam. Very bad business all around.

Game is very good, superb even. I just don′t know if I should keep playing on the worst version out there or switch to PC.

True this. I'm tempted to return my amazon pre-order when it gets here and just go get the ps3 version....but they seem to have unexplained lag problems that make the game unplayable.

Well, I guess this is good news for some people. Wives and girlfriends mainly...I was all ready to ignore her and play Skyrim for two days straight.

Dammit It's a real, big, sad s**t...
I've a 1 year old slim 360 with 250 GB HDD, I've spent 69 € to buy Skyrim and i can't play it in the best way ?
I don't want to buy a 8 gb USB drive only for one game and i don't want to play with an Airbus noise in my room directly using the DVD...

Really disappointing...i hope they will fix this really really soon...

5 Year of development and no-one tested it with installation on 360 ?

I'm sort of getting tired of repeating this but here goes. Installing to HDD doesn't fix the problem, and neither does installing to a flash drive. All we can do is wait on Bethesda to fix this.

Edit: Some people claim that installation to a flash drive fixes this but I have personally tried every "solution" suggested on the forums and nothing has worked. From what I have gathered it seems that to get the best results you need to be playing on a pre-slim model 360 and from the disk.

I have a 360 S 250GB. Installed on the HDD or Playing from disk still had bad textures. I fixed it by:

Uninstalled the game from the HDD. Cleared HDD cache.

Installed game to Flash USB Drive. Cleared the Flash USB cache.

Restarted the system.

Booted and downloaded the update.

Fixed the texture issues for me.

Hope it works for you guys. It looks SO MUCH BETTER NOW!

No texture issues for me so far. Played for roughly 5 hours.

Alot of other bugs. But those are your typical Bethesda bugs that I have come to expect.

I cleared cache before install. Running on elite.

Feel for you guys that have got this problem.

It looks like a PS2 game and it's not installed on my hard drive...Will installing it work? Or is it supposed to look all jaggy and where things keep changing from dark to light like a strobe light everywhere?

I'm about to go back to playing MW3, I don't think I can take this :<

Can someone give a precise definition of what the texture issues are. What I'm seeing is that most textures are simply not hi-res. The walls in a particular dungeon I'm in now actually have large swaths of pixelation going on. Like it looks like Morrowind era textures. Worse actually, I remember Halo 1 for the original Xbox having textures that changed as you got closer to a wall to where it appeared hi-res up close. I can't believe that this is how they intended it to look.

Shadows look boxy and change colors (or darken and lighten) constantly, hair, buildings and all kinds of stuff look jaggy as crap, it's hard to admire the beauty in anything that looks like absolute dirt.

At least Bethesda is aware of the issue and is working to fix it. They say the next title update will fix it. We'll see.

Hope that update comes soon.

I haven't encountered the issue with hands but the whole game just seems to have low textures, and it's not intermittent either. It's just like that all the time.

Will this: "We have verified that this issue does not occur when playing off the disk and when the game is fully cached (not installed)." mean that after the update the install will be mandatory for high res grapics though. Since playing from a "not installed" game results in low res textures, but they are stating otherwise?
Not that I would mind installing due to wear and tear, just wondering (and I haven't had my coffee yet so bare with me).

I think they are saying that installing to HDD breaks the caching presently, that will be what they need to fix

Ok so I immediately noticed this when I first booted the game up, I though Royfar(sp) or who evers face looked very jagged and such as one guy said, and as soon as the action calmed down and I was on my own I could tell something was wrong. Low and behold the internet is a abuzz with this whole texture issue, I un-installed it off my HDD and cleared my 360 cache, which is what some of you might want to do, because supposably that patch fixed it as some people say but that's probably not true.

Point is, it DID work, you can do a quick test by scoping a video on YouTube, shouldn't be hard to find with a search. You will notice you can actually SEE the veins and finger nails of your caracter when holding something like a small dagger with two hands.

But.. I have to say, the game still looks just a tad low res, and very blocky. I am at a Fishermen's camp right this moment and the fish on his rack are absolutely terrible, blocky as hell, I can clearly see lines and the sides of their textures are very flat and smeared. Same goes for sides of mountain rocks I noticed, just a flat side surface with very low res snow on it, and this can also be said for the trees and pretty much many other things.

Everything looks like a textures on paper trying to be three-dimensional, its awful, I am horribly disappointed, especially on the fact I spent money on this game I really did not have, and also all the other games I traded in that I would almost rather have kept than sacrifice for this. I would have easily waited to get this game in two or maybe three months even if I knew this was an issue, worst part was I didn't even pre-order or pick up on launch night/day.
