I think it has something to do with the compression and i'm sure they are going to fix it.
What really weird though is that there are people reporting that they don't have the problem

I just got my copy and I decided to install to HDD just to see firsthand how bad it was. The walls and floors look so horrible as well as my equipped weapon and hands. When I am viewing items in the menu they are also low res.
I really hate to play games from disk, but right now it looks like I have no choice. uggh. very disappointing. When I deleted the game from my HDD, it took 5 to 10 minutes for all the textures to come back to life.

Can you tell us if this happens again playing from the DVD? People suggest that the problem returns after some time even if it's not installed.

Don`t want to doubt anyone but if this real and as wide spread a problem as it sounds, Why can I only find two pictures of it on the internet.

1) a chair
2) sword and the hand

I just saying with problems like this there are normally 100 youtube videos up in a couple of hours.

Maybe I just can`t find them.

What do you guys think?

It's real....Thousands of people haven't just placeboed themselves into seeing low res textures. I was thinking the same thing you were when this was first reported but it's been confirmed by many people here on the forums

Install to USB stick fixes the problem.

Please stop saying this. Just like many other rumored remedies for this issue, its already been stated in a couple of threads that this fix does not work for all people. The only remedy I know that has the best chance of working is simply quitting back to the main menu, and reloading your latest save (even then, there have been one or two people claiming that does not work either).

Bethesda, we would really appreciate it if you would give us some feedback here on the forums for 360 users as to what the current progress is. It would be nice to know at least what is causing this issue.

Here's a pic of a tree stump near the forge in Riverwood.

Awful blurry low-res textures. I like the ants though :-)

Appears the same if installed to HDD or running off disc.

Reminds me of N64 graphics, but in HD

I have xbox360 Slim 250GB HDD. I have Skyrim installed on hard drive and i noticed that when i run the game the textures are great except of blurry hands but every time i open the inventory menu and then close it the textures of bracers and weapons are lower and lower with every opening. Then when i equip another bracers they look fine but again with opening menus its getting worse. Then when i look into armors the original bracers looks great even after equipping. But the hands are still blurry.

I too am playing Skyrim on the XB360 slim 250GB HDD installed and I am getting the same issue. Horrible textures everywhere.

I am also having texture issues with the game! I installed to Hdd and they were really bad. Then removed cleared cache and played with disc and they are better but horrible still. Here is what i tweeted at bethblog but got ignored. https://twitter.com/?photo_id=1#!/Kylevalentine1/status/134966097609895937/photo/1 please Bethesda give us a sign you are sorting or working on sorting something out!!!!

Not that I have noticed so far. The problem is largely gone.

Install to USB stick fixes the problem.

I went so far as to try this and it did absolutely nothing....

What I know now of the issue, from my own experiences and from posts on the forum:

Texture issues appear if the game is installed and non-installed, but mostly when the game is installed.

The issues can be fixed by clearing the cache, redownloading the update, installing the game to an external devide instead of the Xbox HDD or deleting the install, in some cases.

The textures can be ugly both in the game and in the inventory menu.

Going in and out of the game and/or inventory menu can cause temporary? texture issues.

It is possible to have ugly textures on some things and good textures on others (at least in the invenntory), for example in my inventory I have one pair of shoes which is full quality, looks great with reflective surfaces and everything and one which seriously looks worse than Morrowind.

I just loaded my previous save and AT FIRST, it looked alright, but after I went through my inventory menu, the textures looked bad again.

I dont know how but i cant edit my reply so i will write it this way. I forgot to say that i cleared cache before install and that the menu thing also applies to npcs and their clothes and skin. But environment is beautiful.

What were the details? Did they mention anything about a time frame that we can expect this in?

No, they just said next title update.

However, since they deleted their own post, I worry.
