Such a Shame Skyrim Pt2

No, not along the lines of Dragon Age: Origins. In DA:O you can make people who look like people! A strange concept in a Bethesda game, I know.
Spellmaking is missing, yes. Lately people have seemed to be downplaying that for some reason, which I find inexcusable.
And, oh, I guess I'm such a horrifyingly insane person who wants more weapon types than 1) Swing fast and stupidly or 2) Swing slow and stupidly.
And no, there are not tons of tools to use as a mage, the amount of "mage tools" in Skyrim is a pittance, compared to ANY other fantasy game with magic, let alone past TES games.

And getting rid of Acrobatics and Atheletics removes entire playstyles.

And I'm sorry if I prefer actual gameplay options as opposed to 50 different beards.
I can tell you've drank the Kool Aid, so to speak, on this issue, of course. So there will be no convincing.
I can only pity you.

Oh yes, those DA:O dwarves and elves look just like the guys I work with. Skyrim's humans, they don't look human to you?

Spellmaking is downplayed because, well, because all it is is changing power and effect, that's it. It's not like you can brew up, say, acid fog where there's no acid graphic/design.

Do tell, what would you add to weapons, besides the damn spears?

Ditto on the mage tools, what's missing?

Oh, we're getting into the individual quality levels of each bracket as well? Then yes, Dragon Age pulls ahead by a league. But if the argument is customization, putting on a slightly darker or lighter version of the armor you've already been looking at since the start of your Origin is hardly something to crow from the belltowers.

Well Skyrim does it without actually presenting any stat differences, so I'd say again that Dragon Age wins the round.

Chakrams

The list could go on and on.

Ditto. But, please then factor in the fact that each Skyrim armor has different states from _ to Legendary and each individual piece can be double enchanted, to your liking with what, upwards of a dozen enchants let's say it's only 6. 6x6xhow many levels of improvement? Um, no, DA:O only has "more customization" in armor if you ONLY count armor graphics and completely discount armor function. Valid point, right?

Preference again. With Enchanting and Smithing you can essentially make any thematic armor set your heart desires of any quality (other than cloth). It's one of my favorite past times, in fact, every character I run has themed armor tailored to their overall adventurin' disposition. I was unable to do this in Dragon Age.

Also on the topic of franchise inconsistency, I noticed Isabella went from an odd, greasy skinned redhead duelist to an exotic gypsy super-pirate, and Leliana didn't stay dead simply because their lead writer threw a temper tantrum along the lines of "It's my story, I'll tell it how I want to."

I only remember Halberds appearing in previous incarnations of the game, as a sub-set of Spears in Morrowind. I thought this was a discussion on how much they're taking out of the series.

Weapons: Throwing Stars, Throwing Darts, Cutlasses/Sabers, Halberds, Shortswords, Clubs, Melee Staffs, More types of Crossbows, More types of Scimitars, Flails and/or Whips, Knuckle weapons, explosive arrows.
Magic Spells: Open, Lock, Plain Damage, Poison, Chameleon, Levitate, Teleportation (Intervention), Water Walking, More Daedra/Undead summons, the full catalogue of Bound Weapons and Armor, Spellmaking, of course, with radius and damage and amount of time customization, probably others I'm forgetting. I don't want to have to pull up a list for this.

Dragon Age 2 is an abomination that needs to be cast into the abyss. Absolute insult to their fans.

So many spells, and no mention of Passwall. :( Easily the greatest moment in the series.

Confirm.

I think Awakening was a suitable capstone. There didn't need to be a 2, and there probably doesn't need to be a 3. Everything I read about the informal pitch of DA3 just brings back sad, sordid memories of Mass Effect 3, especially the line about how all our choices from the first two games will have a lasting impact on the third.

Riiiiight.

Rapiers = Swords, nothing new. Halberd? Seriously, axe on a pole? Same's a Battle axe, really. Sorry nothing new. Chakram? Big throwy star ringy things? You do realize that TES is more about realism, right? No can do there. Whips, okay... yeah, that COULD be a valid point, well, if it do more than leave a nasty welt on the guy that just beheaded you. Seriously, I knew that was coming.

Whoa, you're just really disagreeable, then.
A halberd is almost nothing like a battle axe, and it's certainly not used to same way.
Realism, huh? Like that time I punched a Ancient Dragon to death, or the time I killed Dagoth Ur a bunch of times with throwing stars, or that time I hit a kid with a fireball and he took no damage.
