Werebears and Spears... maybe next DLC? #2

Post » Wed Nov 21, 2012 2:06 am

I'm probably almost certain that this has been thought of (and that I'll get flamed for my heresy), but what if the werebears and werewolves are vying for their master's praise in the Hunting Grounds, assuming that's the DLC location? It could make for some interesting conflicts IMO.

That is what some of us suspected before. Similar to the Aureals and Mazken arguing for Sheogorath's favor.

Werebears: "I'm sick of these damn wolves hunting with Hircine while we have to step aside(happened in Infernal City). I am sick of Hircine hosting a hunt for werewolves in Solstheim while we sit back on our asses all day!"

Werewolves: "U mad, bear?"

Hopefully if spears are added in Skyrim they also add in throwing spears like a Pilum. It would be good fun throwing a Pilum at an enemy before charging in. For the stormcloak players beth could add in a throwing axe in the Francisca.

I definitely would want to use a throwing spear or throwing axe since I hardly ever use bows.

If Beth adds spears I dobut they will be throwing spears, although I would like to see them.

Throwing axes would fit the nordic theme well.

That's the point we already have loads of stuff about dwemer, why have more?

And the reason why Bethesda didn't add werebears to the game is most likely because of time constraints.
Yes, that is the main reason that people are asking for Werebears. They are an important part of the picture that was painted of Skyrim years before the game actually came out. Giants, Dwemer ruins, The Falmer and even Shouts made it into the game based on previous lore and Werebears have been confirmed to exist. They may be rare and less important to the overal "story" of Skyrim in regards to the main quest but I do think they should have been a priority, certainly over Werewolves as Werebears are siad to be more numerous. They should have definately been prioritized over something else that was not so important to Skyrim's theme. Children for example.

I Agree. I mean Idk why they wouldn't add werebears they have a model they can touch up and they would fit in the lore so why not??

Personally, unless they are adding them as little extras for a dlc, I don't want them to pursue any further of the game jam ideas they had. That's not to say some of them couldn't be good, but I was kind of on the fence for the Vampire Lord thing. It worked out because they had a good story backing it up, but in all honesty, I think there is a lot more fertile ground to go after outside of new shapeshift forms. The shapeshifting forms aren't really that useful anyhow outside of low levels. Once you get to about 25, maybe higher, you are really gimping yourself by shapeshifting, not to mention the fact that EVERYONE becomes hostile to you and you can't pick up gear. If the shapeshift forms were implemented in such a way that they radically changed the way you played the game or added on some dimension that was really fun to work with, then I would say go all in, but as it is, I'd rather they not.

I would like to see them build up a different land mass for us to explore. Orsinum has been posited as the next land mass for dlc, and that would be pretty sweet. Anywhere would be great, just so long as it isn't a plane of Oblivion. It was cool for Shivering Isles to take some portal on some little patch of land to a new world. It worked for the Soul Cairn too. However, I think we are at the point where portals are a little contrived. If you have to, use a boat or something, but I would much prefer to get a dlc that adds on land mass I can just walk right into as easily as walking from Windhelm to Riften. New weapons, new armor, and some "it" feature. Something that defines the dlc and gets everyone excited, which is something I think Dawnguard flubbed, not because the "it" feature in Dawnguard was bad, but because it was something we already knew about AND it was a feature dedicated to one side of the dlc, and not the other. I know you could play a VL on the Dawnguard side, but you lose all access to the Dawnguard questgivers, and you don't have access to all the useful vampire artifacts and other odds and ends, so it is really a losing deal.

I don't understand why people think I'm asking for a "Werebear" DLC I'M NOT! Maybe a side quest or just some wild werebears (even though the hunting grounds would be awesome) and on DG. THATS THE POINT. Pick a side and fight for that side. Obviously you wont get the enhanced dwarven crossbow (exclusive for the Dawngaurd) as the Vamire Lord and you can't be in the Dawngaurd and a Vamp Lord. Thats like signing a deal with one team and playing for another.

yeah but that means your character only gets 50%(dont take this literaly) of the new gameplay additions : its either crafting an awesome weapon or becoming an awesome creature ! In the next DLC, people who will have played Dawnguard will be either werewolf or vampire and will want to stay that way ... So werebear would be an addition they would pay for even though they would never use it

Lol, should they ad just one skill because half of the people don't use Alteration? It's the nature of a roleplaying game (I know Skyrim is more Action Adventure) that you can't get and do all, at least with one character.
