Werebears and Spears... maybe next DLC? #2

Post » Wed Nov 21, 2012 3:06 am

Spears could be fit into two-handed weapons tree easily.

And I heavily support the concept of a transformation type for each playstyle.

It honestly makes a massive amount of sense.

Spears could fit into Two-Handed, I guess... But if they added them at all, I would need to have the full package - perks that effect what spears can do if thrust hard at enemies and skewering them to the depths of oblivion... Other perks could be added, too, but for some of the ones I am thinking of, it would need a "Chop," "Slash," "Thrust" system like there was in Morrowind. That would really be the only way to get everything out of them. Otherwise, they are just long sticks with an arrowhead on the end, because You can't really do a good "Thrust" in Skyrim...

Here's a picture of a prehistoric http://images.yuku.com.s3.amazonaws.com/image/png/83316f649b17fa3ce6e23528525075af87171eb5_r.png, another possible influence for how werebears may look like.
That would be awesome. That would make a good werebear.

I aways wish Beth would've some how put the short-faced bear in Skyrim like they did the Saber cat

Imagine walking through Skyrim's snowy regions and all of a sudden this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sHH0RaBWOmk&feature=results_video&playnext=1&list=PL37A30BCD7CD47362 appears.

That would be cool, but I think the werebears should look like they did in the Gamejam video with some differences.

Werewolves warrior? Hahaha.

I guess they weren't sneaky at all in Bloodmoon, eh?

Apparently not, I don't get why they can't sneak in Skyrim, you would think that a werewolf would be able to sneak since wolves stalk their prey.

I agree, werewolves are finely tuned predators, they should enter a town at night and massacre a whole house full of people then leave without alerting the guards.

Edit: Also I don't know why bethesda hasn't added sneak to werewolves yet. It would seem quite easy to add it in a patch like how they added mounted combat.

I agree. They could do it in the next patch or DLC.

Neither Werewolves nor Werebears are supposed to the "warrior" arc type. They are hunters, predators, and should have more skills than hack and slash. They should both have sneak as well as night eye, detect humanoid, etc. In previous games, the skills that were enhanced and available to them were beyond only the warrior’s blend but also incorporated the rouge or thieves like unarmored (which should be added), speed, acrobatics and others as well as their natural abilities. The only range unavailable was magic. They were clearly meant to be robust creatures and their bonuses were meant to entice in order to offshoot their drawbacks. All that as well as lunar transformations should return and the favorites menu should include all the powers of the totems instead of having to choose only one. The Vampire Lord has a specialized favorite’s window; I don't see why the same can't be done for Wolves and Bears.

I agree with the totems, when Aela gives us the quest and we discover a lost totem we should gain that power instead of switching with another.

Am I the only one who thinks werebears would be a really dumb idea? They look so stupid in my opinion. I know they're in the lore, but maybe they should stay there. As for spear, I think that would be cool. Especially if you could throw them for huge amounts of damage.

I agree they didn't look the best in the gamejam video, but if Bethesda made them a little bit more muscular and less fat looking I think they would look cool. But adding something doe not make it dumb because it adds more variety, how is that dumb?

Going off of dmel25, I also don't think the aesthetics matter because they can always be changed. What matters is how they're implemented, how accurately they fit lore, and how balanced and fluidly they integrate into gameplay.

Saying they were ugly in the gamejam is like saying a gemstone is ugly before it's cut and polished. Of course it is, because it hasn't been refined or worked on.

Exactly, I think they could incorporate them into the wild, and maybe add in a quest or two with them, if not a DLC that involves them, and I will be happy because they are supposed to be in Skyrim.

They could redo the Bloodmoon and add in Solstheim as a DLC.. That would give Beth an excuse to add the Werebears... But most likely wont happen due to Bloodmoon was already done.

They could, but make it so that we can get to Hircine's Hunting Grounds from Solstheim, that way we have two new areas to explore.

Well yeh. Hircine does take the top 3 warriors of Solstheim to a maze in his own Hunting Grounds.. And they could also redo it differently since now we have mostly Dunmer on Solstheim... I would love to see the Dunmer's reaction to the Bloodmoon Event.. Specially after everything they went thru..

I would like to see how Solstheim has changed in 200+ years.

Yeh. With Raven Rock failing even in Oblivion's time and now Solstheim is mostly Dunmer, and such.. They can easily do it.. Specially since Solstheim is basicly like Skyrim and such so making Solstheim wouldn't take long.. Maybe they are planning to do that as one of their major DLCs?

It is possible, but I doubt they are saving it for a major DLC, plus people would complain if they did a werebeast based DLC. I would think that it would not be the same because if the Dunmer moved in, then the architecture would be different and more like we had in Morrowind. Plus the climate could be different since Red Mountain erupted.

The werebear in the gamejam was made in one week, I'm sure vsions could make an awesome werebear with just a little bit more time.

I agree with dmel25, I'm not asking for a DLC that revolves around werebears(I would love it if bethesda did though), as long as bethesda can add them in some way like a sidequest or a minorquest in the storyline of the DLC, I'll be happy.

Just the idea of a man bear thing just sounds stupid in my mind. I'm not saying they shouldn't put it in or anyone is dumb for liking it, just stating my opinion. Adding more stuff is fine, but I'd rather have them flesh out werewolves and vampires more than adding a whole new transformation first.

I respect your opinion, but I don't understand why people think turning into a man/wolf is ok, but turning into a man/bear is stupid. In norse mythology(the nords were infuenced by norseman) there are many tales of men turning into bears like "Hrolfs saga Kraka", also viking berserkers would wear bear skins into battle believing that they would turn into bears. In fact most historians believe the word "berserker" literally means bear skin.

Haha. you can't forget Beorn.

Speaking of viking berserkers, if bethesda adds werebears I'm going wear this http://images.wikia.com/elderscrolls/images/6/65/Stormcloak_Officer_Armor.jpg as one.
