Bethesda isn't to blame for this. Sony could just as easily have paid for exclusivity, but they didn't. Microsoft decided to be ahead of the game and purchase it. It was a smart move.

You ain't the only one brother. Was so excited to get a taste of my all time favorite setting again (Morrowind). But now I'm just completely disheartened, and I don't care to wait until 'early 2013', whenever that is. Just going to read up on some spoilers tonight and watch the play-through streams tomorrow. Might buy it when it eventually comes out, but I doubt I'll really care to once I've watched the whole thing through.

Oh well. Maybe they'll give us a break on the next one. Doubt it though.

Bethesda dosent pay attention to most things on the forums.

What they do pay attention to is money and when it comes in. with steam they know exactly how many dlcs were sold and even when.
Also dont be fooled, PC users are a much bigger base than people realize. Hell we only have instore purchases to go by since we dont have the numbers of people who just straihht up bought off steam since they dont release their numbers.

Best way to send them a message is wait on buying the dlc. Trust me the PC fanbase big enough that if every one of PC users waited 48 hours before buying the dlc, the next game wouldnt have same deal. Microsoft wont lose out on the cash cow either so Bethesda dosent have to worry about losing Microsoft business because Microsoft would be shotting thselves in the ass.

Hell the whole reason why Bethesda took the excluaiveness was because they didnt expecy as big reaction to buyers it had. Im even willing to say that the excluaiveness deals arent as hige as we would imagine and its basically the prospect of getting sued thats staying betheadas hand.

Point is u really want them to know ur diaappointed then dont be the giy who buys ot the day it comes out. Ne the guy who waited a week or like me the guy who waited til it went on sale. Posting in the forums really only tells other forum goers ur diappointed and not the peraon or company u want to aculually listen.

I agree with you to a point however the "vote with your wallet" theory has one flaw, by not buying something or waiting for it to go on sale we are making our market numbers look smaller. This in turn encourages companies to take deals from companies like Microsoft or Sony to increase guaranteed revenue. They essentially agree to take a guaranteed amount of money now and gamble that the amount of the agreement will exceed any lost revenue from unhappy customers. This means that in reality Bethesda would have taken this deal irregardless of the install base numbers as the deal essentially represents "Free Money". In short, not buying the DLC or buying it later only reinforces their idea that they need the additional revenue from Microsoft to make releasing the DLC worth it.

To your point that Bethesda doesn't listen to us via the forums, I suspect you are right. Still as a customer I wanted to let them know I was less then pleased. I suspected a direct email would be met with a canned response and would be just as ignored. So i put it on the forums and hope it will spark a civil conversation that they might take note of. Then again this is a forum so a civil conversation is probably out of the question. Oh what do I know!

It probably wouldn't be as bad if they kind of told you guys why they do these things (I say you guys because I'm on Xbox and thus, not affected).

Their response is, and I'll quote the famous Courier, "Nope, sorry. Nothin'."

I agree with this. I mean is it too much for beth to just communicate with its consumers other than tweeting vague statements that causes even more confusion?

Let's just hope that Bethesda won't become another EA Corporation of evil.

Honestly, because of the delay, I probably wont get it. Not because I'm boycotting it or anything, but in a months time it will probably be out of sight out of mind, and I will playing something(multiple somethings) that will keep me from caring about picking it up.

That only shows that Sony isn't as greedy as Microsoft and Bethesda. They accepted the deal, they confirmed that a portion of their fanbase is more valuable to them then the others.

I wonder if Beth feels any shame at all for how jaded they've caused their fans to be. I mean...We've had to wait this long just to hear any news about the exclusivity, which for some reason they refused to speak about until its 360 release date. How are we supposed to care about them at all?

What is the point in playing a new game you already know everything about...would you pay the ridiculous movie ticket price if you already knew every detail ?
Ive read several comments talking about Beth to redo Morrowind with amazing graphics. I do believe actually that they would make mountains of money from it oO

I hope Microsoft is not getting any ideas in their head they get a 30 day exclusive for the fourth DLC as well, three is more than enough whether Sony was waiting to release a PS3 version or not.

The game can be 20x better on the PC due to mods so I don't care. I'll rather wait 30 days to play a good game than a mediocre one, with a mediocre control scheme, with mediocre visual quality.

I dont think people really grasp the idea of a company and profit...
i get that its annoying, but hey
beths gotta feed their peeps and pay the light bill somehow
they may be big for their game genre, but its not like their selling 6 trillion copies of the same game every year like cod and mw
its just them getting by
so.... put on some big boy pants and deal ˉ\_(ツ)_/ˉ

I don't think Bethesda really grasps the line between profit and pissing off fans. Sure, Bethesda is a business, but there is a thing called consumer confidence and as of right now, I think many are fairly disappointed by Bethesda's lack of communication and many other things (especially the PS3 community).

I was under the impression that the 30-day exclusivity with microsoft was a condition that MS put on porting it to their system in the first place, and that it applied to not only the initial release, but also any subsequent releases. It probably was an option they took as opposed to giving MS a bigger cut of the profits. I'm sorry, but if that is the case then I would have done the same thing in their position. If I create a work and go to sell it, then I am going to want to get as much money as I can and try to avoid letting someone else profit from it any more than I think is reasonable. And I think that if you are honest with yourselves, you would take whatever option means more money for you as well. That is what Bethesda is in business for: To make money.

Yeah, we may complain about not getting our hands on it sooner, but they know that as soon as it hits the virtual shelf for us, we're going to snatch it up, even though we say that we won't buy another one of their products so long as they keep treating us like bastards at a family reunion. If I had a dime for every time I used to threaten to cancel a subscription to an MMO or not buy another title by x developer, and turned around and renewed my sub or went out and bought yet another of x developer's titles, I'd be able to buy about ten copies of Skyrim.

For the most part, threats to boycot, unsubscribe, or tell everyone we know not to buy x product, are just that. Threats. It's all a bunch of hot air when we blow it. We know it. Our peers know it. And the developers know it as well. If we were really serious, then after the highly buggy release of Daggerfall and the community outcry it caused, there would never have been a Morrowind. Or an Oblivion. Or a Skyrim.

We are not fooling anyone, so we might as well stop wasting the electrons on posting empty threats.

I'll just wait and get it when it becomes available to me, I just wish I could have enjoyed it over the holidays. I won't have time for it for the first four months of the new year.

I was really upset at first, but I've realized.....the only DLC I'd want is Orsinium anyways. :haha:
svcks for everyone else, though. Maybe if there's a sale soon we can all get it.

People probably know this already but for those who dont Dragonborn is to be released on PC and PS3 early 2013 and there is a possibility for more dlc to come in the near future. Hang in the PS3 players!!!

Pretty much this. I received my XBox as a gift a year ago. It was a great gift, especially considering Madden is never going to be on PC again. But... well, Madden svcked. WAY too easy. Pretty much the only thing I played/play on the Xbox now is a console-specific release (Fable, et. al., but the last one svcked hard). I'm a PC Gamer, that's where I started (rolling my own on a Vic20 cassette jammie) and that's we're I'll always return. MUCH rather wait to really get into the meat and bones on PC although I still do play a little on XBox, my daughter plays far more than I do.

People still don't seem to understand a smart business move as a company. It just boggles my mind of the ignorance some people show and lack of understanding a business world. I could give a 10 page paper on how smart this deal is as a company but it wouldn't recieve any intelligent feedback or responses.....
