PS3 Release for Dawnguard.

Post » Sat Nov 17, 2012 12:44 pm

Ahhh, yes....the blame game. Too bad that myth was debunked a long time ago since many other valid developers figured it out.

I vote to not play the blame game or console war.

Myth?

Last time i checked, all multi-platform console games are pretty much Xbox 360 prefered because they just flat out run better then their PS3 counter-parts (this is fact) Now PS 3 exclusives are great, but Multi-Plats are Xbox 360 area all day long and twice on sundays.

Also its not debunked, they may have learned how to code on the PS3 to "get by" so to speak, but Multi-platform games show the Xbox has far more optimizations. It is what it is....If Sony had it to do over, I bet they would have made better hardware decisions. the PS3 is the Windows Vista of Consoles.

I'm gone for one moment and people on PC have dawnguard but not people on PS3? Wow.

Bethesda wasn't happy with it on the PS3 so it's been delayed.

And spare me the gabe newell speech. The guy says all that and then his company releases console exclusive steamworks content for Portal 2 on PS3. Gabe's lost touch with reality.

I see the post. Well that's unfortunate. But hey at least there might be one teeny-tiny chance that the DLC will run more smoothly since they are taking their precious time. Note I said teeny-tiny chance.

Very :/ I was hoping for Patch 1.7 to be up on PSN server as well but it wasn't submitted yet, then this news just put an arrow in my knee, chest, and left arm. I was looking forward to a release date.

Its not very often a simple post makes me cry and laugh at the same time. http://www.bethblog.com/2012/08/02/dawnguard-ps3-update/

Is this a new company standard or total baloney? Because it was not during the 2006-2007 release and re-release of TOS: Oblivion.

The best part is when they make it sound like its a gift that we're getting free patches..

Do you hear what Gabe is telling you? that the PS3 is a nightmare to code for.....they didn't give game developers a good friendly platform to code for....Micrsoft had a winner with the Xbox 360 because it was developer friendly and had easier tools to work with and the hardware is easier to program for.....Even the head of Valve is telling you the PS3 is a terrible piece of hardware.......I got lucky when i was making my decision between the PS3 and Xbox that i happened to stumbled upon Gabe Newell article, and he proved to be correct......

Its not Bethesda's fault...they are doing the best they can, but you can shine a turd and expect it to turn into gold.....they are doing everything they can, but look what they have to work with for petes sake...256MB of RAM and cell processor thats a pain to code for.....

Well over the years Gabe must have warmed up to Sony and the PS3.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gabe_Newell

"Nevertheless, at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electronic_Entertainment_Expo in 2010, Newell appeared on stage at Sony's keynote; while acknowledging his past outspoken comments on console development, he discussed the open nature of Sony's PlayStation 3 platform, and announced http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Portal_2 for the console, remarking that with http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steamworks support it would be the best version for any console.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gabe_Newell#cite_note-6 Newell has also criticized the http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xbox_Live service, referring to it as "a train wreck".http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gabe_Newell#cite_note-7"

Please don't turn this into a defensive console war but there are valid points about the different closed proprietary systems on consoles.

@solidscale - your car anology was all sorts of off base, though I understand what you were hoping to get. I've removed the relevant posts.

I do hope bethesda gets their [censored] together. At least they're attempting. And the patch 1.7 is out already? I've taken a break from Skyrim so I wouldn't know.

Hey I would just like to point out something.

If you were Bethesda now, with all your mistakes done, what would you do?

You've released 3 products (FO3, FONV, Skyrim) with these issues on the PS3. It's done, you can't undo what's done. So, your next thing (DG) has the same problem. So, you could release it, knowing it's broken the same way, or, now that you're acknowledging the issue, hold it back, and fix the thing. It is NOT right to release another bad product just because all the previous ones were the same. Consistency is pointless, you might as well fix the issue now, and never make it again, rather than wait for your next big release.

Now, what would be awesome is if they fixed Skyrim's PS3 problems simultaneously via patch. They might be doing this, but that is speculation. What would be stupendously awesome is if they went back and fixed FO3 and NV but due to being a company they probably simply can't.

They made mistakes. Now they want to fix them, so let them, it's rather silly to complain now. Yes they made mistakes, but don't chew them out for finally doing something about it.

Oh. Well when patch 1.7 comes out I'll play skyrim again. The amount of bugs I got from dawnguard made me stop playing for a bit. I wish bethesda would've took some time with my version :stare: .

And now?
It is out for pc and maybe comes out for ps3 when hell freezes over?
Thats hard! Still can't believe it although i read it three times by now.

Well, once Sony gets the 1.7 patch (who knows when that will be too) you can expect the patch roughly 2-3 weeks after that.. Either way, I'm thinking at least very late August early September for patch 1.7.. Dawnguard? October?

I play up till I get near to the end of civil war for the imperial, then give it a rest until DG comes out and then and then pick it up again. *pats back* I'm sure they will with the next DLC.

I shouldn't have used cars lol. I just think that if you are going to release a game on a system, whatever it may be, that the responsibility lies on the developer, not the console. That's all I was getting at. I apologize for any patronizing/disparraging things I may have said. Just got a little worked up.

That's a little long but I have a feeling you might be accurate.

I doubt it. Either way I'm still probably going to buy it.

Yes, but they are not famous for that. They're famous for taking a lot of time to develop games resulting in perfection each time.

HUGE thank you to Gstaff for updating us on the status of Dawnguard. It is much better for them to release the dlc later if it means that it will perform better. Thank you for finally letting us know what is going on. Transparency is always appreciated. :)
