PS3 Release for Dawnguard.

Post » Sat Nov 17, 2012 2:38 am

of course its going to come out....just not this year lol. to tell you the truth i'm not even excited about dawnguard anymore. i just want the patch that's all. oh and i think dawnguard should be a FREE download. why spend $20 on a DLC thats probably going to be like "The Pitt"?

Dawnguard is nothing like the Pitt at all, besides the fact you can join two factions.

I think SP3CT3R was referring to the fact that "The Pitt" was a complete mess when it was released, much like Dawnguard probably will be if it ever comes out on the PS3.

Reading the statement about Dawnguard and the PS3, there's still no real confirmation that the PS3 will ever get it.

Bolded and italicized for emphasis.

They don't even say that they're still working on it. This could very well be saying "We tried to get Dawnguard running of the PS3, but it's not working out. So no DLC for the PS3," and nothing more. It actually seems a rather defeatist message.

It is so funny how people can minipulate things written in plain english. I wonder, do you work for Fox News? But here watch what I do here:

"We are not satisfied yet with Dawnguard’s performance on the PS3. Wewould likefor everyone to have a chance to play Dawnguard, but we arnt going to release it for ps3 knowing that some peoples experience will be worse.
We do everything we can to have our content available to all; from our free updates, to user mods, to paid DLC. We’re as disappointed as our fans when that isn’t the case, but we’ll continue to push for that reality."

See, so it sounds to me that they have it for PS3 but it doest not yet meet their standards, and they are working on it. And dont even try to come back with, "they released Skyrim, bugs and all, no problem", because, yes thats true, but they got hell for it, and I figure they dont want to deal with that again. Call me crazy but some people learn from their mistakes, unlike a certin fanbase I know, who complains about everything then once its rectified, they dont apologize for being babies and just move on to something else to complain about.

While I agree the speculations about it simply not coming out are baseless and unfounded...

I think if anyone should be apologizing, it's Bethesda. Hell, not even for the delay perhaps (I mean cmon, it's only been 1 month + 1 week), but for that statement. It comes off as downright insulting it's so out of touch with the PS3 fans. As many have pointed out, PS3 is mad BECAUSE they're not getting any of those free features Bethesda bragged about releasing, and bragging about patching a game that was unplayable? Not exactly something to be proud of.

I have to say that as a PC user, from the sidelines, yes, I do question if they're truly giving it their all to accomidate the PS3 version, given Microsoft is paying them for preference, the PS3 compatibility issues have existed for years now and they should've known to watch out for this given Skyrim's buggy release for PS3.

Bethesda's statement is basically "LOOK HOW FRIGGIN' AWSUM AND NOBLE WE ARE FOR WORKING HARD TO MAKE SURE YOUR EXPERIENCE IS EQUALLY ENJOYABLE" when the exact problem is that the PS3 version is not as enjoyable because of delays in everything and a buggier experience. I mean how long has it been since 1.6's release? 3 months? 4? I'm not saying they should release a buggy DLC by any means, but I am saying this would be a good time to say sorry, and I do struggle to see how they couldn't've anticipated these issues and dealt with them sooner.

Why are PS3 users so naive about this? I mean, Skyrim uses an updated Gamebryo engine, the Creation Engine. The same engine is also used for Oblivion (2006) and Morrowind (2002). Skyrim has the same problems as FO:NV on PS3 because it uses the same engine with a few tweaks and fixes. So, yeah, this game is never going to work right on the PS3 if they don't rewrite major low level parts of the game. And that's not going to happen because that's way to expensive.

I've you can miss the money, do yourself a favor, get a decent gaming rig, a 10 meter HDMI cable, a wireless Xbox controller and play Skyrim smooth as silk on your big tv screen using your PC. That's what I did and I'm having a blast.

This may sadly be the truth of it. Josh Sawyer of Obsidian certainly described it that way, when asked about the issue; he made it sound like there was a fundamental flaw between how Bethesda programs their games and how the PS3 processes data. Meanwhile, while Sawyer delivered a rather lengthy, detailed post about why the PS3 has issues with Bethesda games (http://www.shacknews.com/article/71385/fallout-new-vegas-dev-talks-ps3-memory), all Pete Hines of Bethesda said on the matter was "we fixed it."

I'd be more prone to listening to a guy who was project director for a game rather than a guy in charge of marketing who only says "we fixed it." :D

I imagine Skyrim was the first Bethesda game bought by some who own a ps3. Even if they had bought previous games they may have trusted Bethesda when they released statements saying the ps3 version was getting a ton of attention and had reached a place of parity with the 360.

I don't think he was excusing it as ok, as ideally Bethesda should work hard to fix the issues with the PS3 version, but rather he was just saying that if you as the customer truly wanna see results, then drop the PS3.

The only direct line in that post is we aren't going to release it for PS3. They came out and said it, yet posts here still believe it will be released? The rest of the blog post is PR- marketing. Get Real. Up next is working on the next DLC for PC and 360. They are behind schedule since 11/11/11.

Its not going to be released for PS3. The opening post from beth blog said "We aren't going to release it for PS3" .

Did you read the opening post. I did, and it clearly says "We aren't going to release it for PS3 knowing that some people’s experience in Skyrim will be worse.". That tells me that they plan on releasing it on PS3, just not in the shape it's in right now.

PS3 version of Oblivion didnt receive all the DLCs like 360/PC did. Why would it be different this time, especially considering the massive save files that cause lag? Skyrim save files are alot larger than Oblivions. Every DLC is going to increase your save file. Players in the ps3 section have lag without the dlc. My guess is the bean counters dont want the developers to spend time and money on the ps3 version dlc. They washed their hands on it so to speak and will work on DLCs for 360/PC instead.

Dawnguard will come to PS3. For Bethesda to not do that, well, it wouldn't be a good outcome. But, like most DLC from Bethesda games, PS3 will be the last ones to get their hands on it. There are reasons behind it of course, like stated above, there are a lot of problems with getting the DLC to work properly for PS3.

Well if they find it this difficult to release just one dlc, I think it's safe to assume we might not get anymore after let alone dawnguard. I can't believe that a multi-million dollar game studios reason for not releasing the dlc is because it's to hard. I wish I would have known this on release date so I could have gave the Gamestop employee the middle finger. Incompetence must be the company motto the giant bent over frost troll annoyingly chants as they make decisions pertaining the ps3 version. I hope they all go consummate themselves slowly and shout tiid while they do it, just to make sure it's not over to fast. Bet they wish they had a time wound they could go back to so they can remember the way the guys who published oblivion did it. Bunch of 5th rate chumps when it comes to games.
