PS3 Release for Dawnguard.

Post » Sat Nov 17, 2012 6:01 am

If they gave some formal apologies to PS3 users and even a discount at the DLC I'd consider myself satisfied, but I find rather improbable, to not say impossible, to Bethesda even write us a "We're sorry. Now go buy our DLC and Please continue, my good sir.!"

I was thinking along the lines of a platform exclusive freebie as well as what you mentioned. I certainly couldn't begrudge that practise in these circumstances...

They need to hire some experienced PS3 coders though. If they already have some THEN THEY NEED MOAR!!!11!!1!245

Honestly.....we need the patch....its that simple....the only reason it was just now released for pc...is because the patch fixed all of the problems for the pc version....i bet there will be very little bugs reported with it. As soon as the patch is released for 360 and Playstation....which was just submitted this week....Dawnguard will shortly follow. They wouldnt release the DLC first and the patch second....they will do the opposite.....once ps3 users have the patch....they will have the DLC...Hell, i wouldnt be surprised if the patch gets released one day...and the DLC gets released the week after. :)

I traded in my PS3 copy at Gamestop and bought an Xbox version instead a few months ago. PS3 is my preferred system, but I gave up on it ever being fixed. I bought Dawnguard for the Xbox and it signficantly slowed down my sytem causing lag freezing issues that I did not have on the Xbox before it. Since the PS3 already has freezing and lag issues, I can only imagine how much worse it would make the PS3 if not fixed. Trust me, you don't want Dawnguard on the PS3 until they fix it.

Its not very often a simple post makes me cry and laugh at the same time. http://www.bethblog.com/2012/08/02/dawnguard-ps3-update/

We are not satisfied yet with Dawnguard’s performance on the PS3. We would like for everyone to have a chance to play Dawnguard, but we aren’t going to release it for PS3 knowing that some people’s experience in Skyrim will be worse. We do everything we can to have our content available to all; from our free updates, to user mods, to paid DLC. We’re as disappointed as our fans when that isn’t the case, but we’ll continue to push for that reality.

Is this a new company standard or total baloney? Because it was not during the 2006-2007 release and re-release of TOS: Oblivion.

*sigh*

"Oh Beth how dare you release a broken product" ----> *cue critical panning over the shonky PS3 port*

[Bethesda take heed of this, and decide to not release something in such a shoddy state again]

"BETH Y U NO RELEASE BROKEN PRODUCT?!"

Yes it svcks, yes they owe PS3 players some serious payback, but at least they didn't take your money and foist a broken product upon you a second time...

This svcks, but at least they were honest about it. After the debacle they had with the PS3 version when the game was initially released, I wouldn't have put it past them to just fire this thing out and put their fingers in their ears. Maybe Pete Hines took some PR 101 or something.

LONG LIVE THE MIGHTY GONADS! "kicks furiously"

Kind of obvious that people are ignoring the advice given in the first post. I strongly suggest people take a deep breath, read the opening post, and follow the advice. Given the last several posts, this thread is on the edge of being closed as it has devolved into immature and definitely not civil ranting.

I hope everyone can be civil about this subject. While it's perfectly fine to have a negative opinion about the lack of a solid release date, you have to express them in a civil and mature way. We do not want to see immature hostile posts :nono:

I am shocked at some of the responses here. Unreal!

Look Bethesda is trying their best to get this situation fixed....i know PS3 users feel they have been slighted, but thats not the case. Software has bugs, and the PS3 platform is vastly different from the Xbox and PC. Its stinks that Bethesda ran into problems with the skyrim port for the PS3, but i doubt they done it on purpose. They are doing everything they can to fix this issue.

The folks at Bethesda at Top notch. when I had problems with Dawnguard on the Xbox, two Bethesda Employees reached out to me via private message, and they helped me get the issue resolved. This is EXCELLENT customer service on the part of these guys and gals.

i really think some of you need to lay off of these guys a little bit. These guys take pride in their work, and they are as dissapointed about this as you are. do you really think they want to see Skyrim on the PS3 fail? thats insane, its simply not fact.

If I owned a Ps3 i would be respectful to Bethesda and just wait, I would be glad they are actually going to fix the problems before releasing it so that way you have a good expereince with it. If they had released it with the problems it had now, you all would be up in arms...so they delay the release to fix it and your still up in arms....its a no win....

As i said...i have expereinced help from these people....the folks at Bethesda are TOP CLASS Professionals and they don't deserve the flack they are receiving on this board day in and day out....just give it a rest already...go outside and enjoy life....there is more to it then a video game....Dawnguard will be out before you know it and it will be a good expereince. This anger here IMO is unjustified.....The problems with the PS3 version were most likely a mistake...it happens in software development...no one is perfect.

This post and the others like it keep insisting that all the ps3's community members are simply burned they are last for Dawnguard. Why that is somewhat accurate the MAIN reason stems not only from being left completely in the dark for 60 days, Bethesda has the audacity to claim that their reason to hold back is because of the quality of game being at stake. Last time I checked they had released the vanilla game in shambles and admitted they were fully aware of the problems when doing so. This latest development; it's just the tip of the iceberg. For all you claiming that the ps3 community is just whining because they got picked last for dodgeball need a big reality check and to walk in someone else's shoes before you go all high and mighty on your civil discourse. They have a right to be upset and they should be. 99.9999999999999999999% of them would be content with the 1.06 patch that NEVER came. Oh yeah? Remember that?

*sigh*... ummm no.... bethesda had plenty of time to get DG or the vanilla game to run smoothly from fallouts dlc to now... thats plenty of time... and also you didnt have to deal with the memory bug we (ps3 player) had to deal with

Are you high? They announced it will be on PS3, but not when it will be.
After this last lame status update from Bethesda Silenceworks, I even made some calculations and found DG's exact release date!
That status update sounds pretty bleak to me bro. This is so embarrassing it's pathetic. I've NEVER seen a AAA developer launch a multi platform game and then come out and pretty much say they're amateurs and can't get [censored] DLC to work properly?!?! What a joke. Beth just tapped out. They have failed.

Your missing the point though....have you ever considered that maybe, "just maybe" the 1.6 patch for the PS3 was delayed because it required Bethesda to modify a significant part of the PS3 Skyrim code base to get it to work right? not to mention the fact they may be trying to also fix other bugs in the PS3 version related to performance as well as other things? Have you considered the posibility that this may be taking longer then expected, and they don't want to rush things? I remember Tood Howard specifically saying they were not going to make the same mistake they made with the 1.1 or was it 1.2 patch that broke magic resistance....

Bethesda is going to get your version taken care of, but you have to give them a fair chance.....and they don't want to repeat the mistake that happened with the PS3 launch having problems. They learned from that mistake so give them just a litle bit of credit.....It will get fixed....

The difference between your post and mine is that yours is based entirely on ASSUMING; whereas mine is based on actions and precedent.

Follow me there, brother?

The point is Bethesda has failed.

They have done no such thing...the DLC will be out for the PS3 at some point in the near future.

Your blaming the wrong people, most of Skyrim problems can be directed at Sony for using the hardware they used for the PS3.

Here is what Gabe Newell Head of Valve Studio had to say about the PS3:

http://www.1up.com/news/gabe-newell-ps3-total-disaster

"The PS3 is a total disaster on so many levels, I think it's really clear that Sony lost track of what customers and what developers wanted," said Newell. "I'd say, even at this late date, they should just cancel it and do a 'do over.' Just say, 'This was a horrible disaster and we're sorry and we're going to stop selling this and stop trying to convince people to develop for it.'"

Do you hear what Gabe is telling you? that the PS3 is a nightmare to code for.....they didn't give game developers a good friendly platform to code for....Micrsoft had a winner with the Xbox 360 because it was developer friendly and had easier tools to work with and the hardware is easier to program for.....Even the head of Valve is telling you the PS3 is a terrible piece of hardware.......I got lucky when i was making my decision between the PS3 and Xbox that i happened to stumbled upon Gabe Newell article, and he proved to be correct......

Its not Bethesda's fault...they are doing the best they can, but you can shine a turd and expect it to turn into gold.....they are doing everything they can, but look what they have to work with for petes sake...256MB of RAM and cell processor thats a pain to code for.....

I am not trying to turn this into a console war. I agree with you that it shoudl not.

i am just trying to be fair to point out the obvious problems with some of the line of thinking....in fact its a miracle that Skyrim runs at all on the PS3 as well as it does considering the hardware and what they have to work with. just saying.

however, back on point. PS3 users will get Dawnguard and atleast it will be fixed and of an acceptable quality, and that should stand for something.

Naughty Dog has no such trouble making the PS3 shine...I don't want excuses. I pay for results. PS3 was good enough for Beth to launch multiple games on. Now a single piece of DLC has brought them to their knees? Pathetic. Something isn't right here.

I also have Skyrim on my PC, but ir runs like 20fps and I keep more time [censored] about graphical settings and mods than actually playing the game. And my PS3 is in a 32' LCD TV + 7.1 sound system, so that is why I plan(ned?) to buy Delayedguard for it.

lol.. Hope the best for you in terms of experience..

Ahhh, yes....the blame game. Too bad that myth was debunked a long time ago since many other valid developers figured it out.

I vote to not play the blame game or console war.
It's not a debunked myth though. There are no games that load the world in the way Skyrim does. The amount of data that's loaded at once is absolutely huge. 256MB of RAM is quite frankly pathetic, and while other games will be okay and it's certainly an issue with Bethesda too, it most definitely is a major contributing factor.

Their a first party deveplor of coruse they wouldn't have trouble. lets look at other delevopers like Rocksteady, or capcom, ubisoft just to name a few.
