PS3 Release for Dawnguard - Thread #6

Post » Sat Nov 17, 2012 4:31 pm

True info would be nice, like ex. "It's something confidential that cannot be discussed," or " We've currently run into some situations integrating Dawnguard into the Ps3 system." I've already attempted myself to modify skyrim on the ps3 (due to curiosity) and it seems like the game would run for a while but then it would automatically exit back to the XMB. But that was my attempt and it FAILED!! I can see both sides of this, the devs are having issues with it working correctly (plus whatever the work hours are and if they have a night shift.) and the consumer (US!) is getting P.O.ed due to everyone else has it now except us. Still I'd imagine when we do get it, people will still be poed for something not working right with it. If we want a quality product, we must wait for it.

After all this time, that they would release it WITH game breaking bugs in it, yes people would get mad. After all the waiting, there should be no reason as to why they have not got it in working order.

I can agree with that, but still even though he is VP of PR still just lay off of him for a little while. Dawnguard won't come out any quicker unless they figure out what the key problems issues are and their causes. Truthfully, I think what needs to be done is that the key problems that are occuring in Dawnguard that is preventing from working correctly need to be known by the public *without* releasing any proprietary information. If we knew what the issues were, maybe we as a community can help out and figure out how to fix the issue. I think what most of the problem is is getting dawnguard to work with the ps3 hardware and encryption system. Every other mainstream console on the market today (WII, xbox360) does not have the level of encryption that the ps3 has. Combined with consistant updates and otherwise hellacious programming issues in order to get it to work, the dev team must be having a nightmare.

Sorry if i come off as blaming Hines for the delay of the dlc. Its not his fault at all, hope that clears that misunderstanding.

What i AM blaming him for is his apparent attitude towards ppl asking him to do his job and the way it is helping to inflame this situation.

http://www.product-reviews.net/2012/08/16/dawnguard-ps3-shrouded-in-secrecy/

That is a link to an article i found just googling 'Dawnguard PS3 news'.

I've never been a PR guy, but i've had to release many a statement to customers over the years and i can say without a doubt answers like "I don't have an answer or an update" are woefully inadequate. I don't think ANYONE is asking for a step-by-step, hourly update on what is going on at Bethesda HQ replete with schematics and the like. But a weekly, 'Hey guys, this is what's what' is not too much to expect.

As to what the root problem is, that's kinda the point of the anger from some-no one at Bethesda seems to know. Or at least they aren't telling anyone else.

I'm a 22 year old man, and I do indeed wear suits. I believe in a world where we could all be impeccably well dressed. He was referring to me being 40 because (even though he says otherwise) he misunderstood my metaphor. I don't care if he misunderstood it, isn't my problem. Doesn't make a difference either way at this point, so can we get on topic?

I agree with Spiritreavers post, though he may or may not be actually trying to put attitude in his tweets, on-line emotion is not easy to see. So I digress. I would like them to confirm that they are indeed GOING to make it work for the ps3, and not just toss it aside if it becomes too difficult.

It's funny, all the other system people are like what's wrong with you people! And I kind of an too. Why? I finally bought it on PC which I hate to do cause my PC isn't that good.

The thing is, I now understand that actually owning it puts a complete spin on the situation. You no longer think, jeez we need info how terrible are you Bethesda! You just think, why are these people so impatient for information?

But I understand the impatience because I was part of it.

If they really have nothing to say by now though, I'd just give up on it for a while. No information is probably the nice way of saying, you'll see it in a few months.

Has anyone in europe had the 1.7 update yet on their ps3?

and, as aside from reading down this thread, have we really reached the point of attacking each others grammar?

also, i am impatient and demanding. I DEMAND THINGS. things like dawnguard.

On a different note, I think being angry is just a waste of energy and time. I've accepted the reality that DG is not out yet. I just bought a couple of low-priced games to tide me over (NV and Deus Ex).

It's not fun waiting, but again, it's a waste of my energy being upset.

edit: spelling.

Since we have little information, when do folks think the DLC will be ready? By the end of this month? Next month?

I'm hoping this month, but I also am thinking that since it released for PC by surprise it could hit PS3 anytime.

I've considered getting the PC version of Skyrim as I have a decent rig. I am not going to buy it again though, just to have DG. I know there are tons of mods out there, but my PS3 version has never really given me any problems (minor bugs only). Besides, my computer is hooked up to my HDTV and arranging a proper sitting area has been problematic. I used to game a lot on my comp, but now it's easier and more comfortable to use the PS3.

I have split out a lot of posts, mainly due to spam and lack of civility, but also a couple linking to a petition. We do not allow any of that, if in doubt please check the forum rules.

Nothing about this is fair or right. What is so hard about giving the people who loyally support your company even a timetable for the relaease. I understand an exact date can't be given, so just give an idea of when it might be. I payed the same price for Skyrim as every xbox owner out there, put up with more problems with the game than any xbox owner, and I still get [censored] on by this company once again. I wish that I could say that I'll just play RE6 or some other new game but I'll still be checking every single day to see if Dawnguard is out. Why? because Skyrim is an awesome game. And because they won't tell me when the f@#kin thing is coming out!

True, I still check daily as well. However, I understand no amount of anger or disappointment is going to make it come out any faster. Spend some time with other games as you said and we just have to wait until it is "good enough" for release to PS3.

One thing I do wonder, though.. Was Beth contracted to not even touch DG for the other platforms for 30 days? I mean, it hit PC fairly quickly and it is still too much of a mess for PS3.

I can only think that the almost 2 months were spent not working on the DLC, or the PS3 is THAT much of a pain to work with. BUT.. plenty of games come out for the PS3 so it stands to reason it is not impossible to work with. For some reason DG is.. odd.

You have to take in that it's put together on cumputers and frist tested on those cumputers then moved to platforms.

I am kind of thinking it might be a surprise release, as with the PC. Hence, I check daily in the hope that after work it will be there on PSN.

No dice yet though.

I'm not even mad about DG being delayed I'm mad that Skyrim for the PS3 should of been delayed to fix the game and release it the way it should of been.

What a freakin joke...This is basically the whole of the gaming industry anymore...

The larger problem i see, is that even though these companies continue to screw us over, most of you will STILL purchase the product...Confirming in their minds (Bathesda, EA, Activision, etc.) that they can do whatever they wish, and you will still willingnly give them your cash...Try to remember the companies who DO make good games, and are struggling, yet may be a lesser known brand...Buy THEIR games...Your still getting a new product to play, while consecutively hitting these horrid devs where it hurts...The wallet!!!

I dont know about most of you, but i cant afford a fraction of games that i wanna play..SO many games release every week now, that i must pick and choose which to buy, when i can afford one...Now, i simply cross off EA, Activision, and now Bathesda as a possiblity...If ever they start changing the way they do businesss, ill reconsider them as an option..For ow, theres too many great game out there to bow down to P.O.S. companies like this! They become industry juggernauts, and stop carign aboput the fanbase, and 'WE' are the ones who suffer...

STOP BUYING THEIR JUNK! (It probably doesnt work anyway!)

Im sure thats exactly whats intended...More revenue to a company who doesnt have the common decency, to give any actual info on the status of the dlc...Why would you be willing to support a franchise like that? Im curious...

PS: you wont ever see an update on psn on any day other than tues, unless otherwise specified

Made three characters in anticipation of Dawnguard. Those characters are now levels: 70, 48, and 46. Thought Dawnguard would have been out before I would be able to make that much progress with those characters, haha.

LOL I did the same thing, but only one character. I'm tired of her already!
