PS3 Release for Dawnguard - Thread #6

Post » Sat Nov 17, 2012 11:06 pm

So...Todd Howard lied to Pete?

Maybe. If Todd said..

"Hey Pete. You've been with us for a while. How would you like to be bumped up to VP of PR for us? I promise no one will ever send you hate mail!"

So what's the general consensus amongst the PS3 community right now?

Release it now regardless of how game breaking it might be.

Wait until it's ready.

For me personally, I want them to release it when it is ready... but they should have had it ready a long time ago. And Personally I believe that they should discount their product since the delay is due to their inability to produce a quality product in a timeframe that they were able to produce for other systems.

If that really happened, then I pity him for believing Todd.

I do to.......but I doubt it happened just like that.

The reason I am advocating for a discount, is because I am not going to pay full price for the crappy customer care I've received. If they give me a discount, we'll call it even. If they don't... then I'm waiting for GOTY edition. Get it for a lower price.

I wouldn't even buy the GOTY edition. I doubt they'll give us a discount :/ they'll charge us full price and the Cycle will repeat it's self.

C'mon Man. Believe in Something! :)

yeah I realize the liklihood of a discount is low, but I WILL NOT pay full price for their poor service. Even if it means that I have to wait even longer. Principled Stand! This is coming from a huge vampire fan... (oh and not the twilight crap either)

Always wanted to do PS plus. Did it when it was free cause of the hack. Loved it. I just don't have the time to pour into that many games. Maybe if there is a discount on Dawnguard to PS plus users, I'll do a 3 month.

I dont have anything personal against pete hines, he is just bethesdas PR muppet. I dont do twitter but Im pretty sure he suffers some personal attacks from the ps3 community which is inexcusable.
Pete hines was pretty much all over the misinformation campaign that preceded release. He flip flops from "Gee, I'm not a coder" to debunking Josh Sawyer's theory about Skyrim's problems. So on the one hand, he knows enough to say everything was fixed in FONV (a lie) and that Sawyer is clueless about Skyrim because, after all, its a 'brand new engine.'

He has ever since release been at best terse and patronizing to the PS3 customers and at worst inflammatory and disrespectful.

And this is considering only his direct actions, I would also say that somebody in a vice presidents position should have enough pull within a company to also shoulder direct responsibility for the corporate mentaility that it is ok to treat customers like they have.

Whatever Pete HInes has received at the business end of a Skyrim:PS3 customer's rant has been well deserved.

I'm sorry Gstaff,
"We are not satisfied yet with Dawnguard’s performance on the PS3. We would like for everyone to have a chance to play Dawnguard, but we aren’t going to release it for PS3 knowing that some people’s experience in Skyrim will be worse. We do everything we can to have our content available to all; from our free updates, to user mods, to paid DLC. We’re as disappointed as our fans when that isn’t the case, but we’ll continue to push for that reality"

is not information at all. It is intentionally giving you guys a way out. Just as patch 1.6/1.7 released without Dawnguard trophies has done the same. If you would just be direct with us, and not try to purposefully mislead us, most of us would understand. I want a REAL update, where are you actually at with Dawnguard? Is it actually close to being completed or not? It's a simple confirmation, and it would go a long way to tame the beasts out there.

You haven't even confirmed for an absolute fact that it is coming to the ps3 at all! I'm just stating the real facts, everything I just said is true, so just kill the messenger(s)<-- (as there are hundreds of us doing this)

edit: for formatting.

That update is exactly where we're at. We need to be satisfied with the performance before releasing it. Right now we're not satisfied.

You could atlest give us regular updates on it's performance, where's it at, and atlest a timeframe, People are less likely to buy dawngaurd the longer it's delayed.

But if there's not even minor changes in status, what information would they update you with?

It would be better if they just kept you informed only when a major breakthrough occured rather than small little updates that would be the same information as the previous fifty updates would have contained.

Can you understand from our perspective?

Given that you have issued FO3:GOTY, FONV:UE and Skyrim on the PS3 without ever really fixing the core issues why should we now believe that this is a performance issue?

Why do you suddenly care now? It was fine to release the whole game broken in November. If its a performance issue why isn't there an extended PS3-beta going on?

Is your work solely focused on the DG expansion? If so I think we're doomed - because the vanilla game still doesn't work well.

Is there any chance we could get some kind of bone thrown to the PS3 community? (like the barber? you can have my mounted combat back if we could just get the stupid barber...)

+edit

actually, I would give back the kill cams, the improved water shaders, mounted combat and the still broken fixes for Blood on the Ice and the White Phial.

You guys just take those blobs back and give us the barber.

++edit

Oh, and I can throw in about seven Louis Letrushes... whaddya say? Deal?

i agree with dar'istrali. we dont care if it has bugs. the entire game has bugs that you guys havent fixed. since theres already bugs, just add a few more. we want dawnguard period. the fact that you guys (Bethesda) are not satisfying your ps3 customers, is ametuerish and an absolute HORRIBLE way to represent your half ass company. release dawnguard with bugs, we will get past them just as we have gotten past everyone of them. the main thing that pisses me off is that you had a whole month to fix it after dg released on xbox. but instead you sat on your asses and took your damn sweet time. thats what makes us ps3 users angry. i can honestly say i will never buy another Bethesda made game ever again just for this reason. thanks for reading :::DDDDDD

That's the same as saying you've made little or no progress. And in your reply, you only answered my first sentence. Making the fear of Dawnguard never coming more real than ever.

Gstaff.....i understand that you are a very busy man. I thank you for taking time to post in the forum to help tame some of us crazies...(no offence)

Maybe you could just answer one or a few of these questions for us...

What exactly about Dawnguard PS3 are u guys not satisfied with right now?
Can you give some specifics?

Maybe give a percentage? Are you 75% satisfied?

Maybe the DLC is 75% ready...and you have 25% more fixes?

Anything like that? We like to hear the technical issues! What exactly are you all dissatisfied with?

Would you be comfortable saying that Dawnguard PS3 will be released before Q4?

again...an answer to any of the above questions would be greatly appreciated.

Release it now regardless of how game breaking it might be.

Wait until it's ready.

Cut out the borderline rude tweets and give an official(READ: not a tweet) update every week or so that indicates some actual progress; then i'll happily wait. Have someone say point-blank that the dlc is in fact going to be on PS3 within say 2 months, i'll wait quietly if that were to happen then too.

Keep the snarky double-speak tweets flowing, along with no real statement from the company beside poor Gstaff trying to keep some semblance of order; then you have me waiting quietly-not so much.

OR

Bethesda can man up and admit that they can't make the dlc work on PS3 for w/e reason and we can all call it a day. May, June, July, and now halfway through August; you've got the dlc up and running on 2/3 platforms but still "..not happy with its perfomance" on the PS3. It's 2012 guys, come on....
