PS3 Release for Dawnguard - Thread #6

Post » Sat Nov 17, 2012 2:06 pm

I hope everyone can be civil about this subject. While it's perfectly fine to have a negative opinion about the lack of a solid release date, there is a way to express yourself in a civil and mature way. We do not want to see immature hostile posts :nono:

It has been http://www.bethblog.com/2012/08/02/dawnguard-ps3-update/ that the PS3 version will be delayed a bit as they are still working to ensure acceptable performance on the platform.

We are not satisfied yet with Dawnguard’s performance on the PS3. We would like for everyone to have a chance to play Dawnguard, but we aren’t going to release it for PS3 knowing that some people’s experience in Skyrim will be worse. We do everything we can to have our content available to all; from our free updates, to user mods, to paid DLC. We’re as disappointed as our fans when that isn’t the case, but we’ll continue to push for that reality.

Yeah true i suppose.

Also i dont think Dawnguard actually had a real release date apart from microsofts exclusive on the 26 which they paid for but even that wasnt completely finished it still had alot of bugs ect then the pc got the dlc with no release date apart from its available to download now out of the blue. So they obviously are delivering the dlc once its ready and obviously its not ready on the ps3 even though its taking a long time. If they had said it was meant to be released on X date and weeks/months had gone by then fair enough but technically they dont have to do or say anything but as a ps3 user it does look a bit bad i suppose.

Wish they would get in gear

I think It's funny how people act like Bethey has never done this before. Of course not ever body played Fallout 3, and had to go through that agenizing delema, of getting your hopes up when word got out the DLC's should of been getting out in June of 09, only to have those dreams crushed in meer seconds (like I've been feeling sense this meas started) when they said we would have to wait till September.
I don't think there really is a call for civility here, when it appers the company doesn't seem to care about us. It's been about 2 weeks now sense we last got word on Dawnguards progress, and all that basicly was: "were not satisfied." The thing I don't get is, they had a whole month before the agrement with the [censored] ended. Was not testing it for the PS3 part of that agrement?
I'm really loosing intrest. From what I've heard it's overrated, and I don't feel like waiting another week/month to have my dreams crushed again...

I think how it really went down was they agreed to let it be a MICROSOFT exclusive: 30 day's for poobox, then 30 day's on PC before letting it get out to us...

My summer is over in a week for me. No point in me wanting to get it anymore. I won't have the time to play it.

Earliest possible is next tuesday/wednesday as PSN only updates on one of those days depending on region.

It would be acceptable not to have a release date, if we wern't the only system without the game. But we are. Everyone else is done, but us. And we don't so much as have a scrap of information.

No joke, but the website crashed my computer for some odd random reason. And it was funny. Know why? Because it said something along the lines of, Bethesda is not responding, End Now lol

I hit end now and my computer shut down though >_>

Probably not the site itself but still, funny none the less that it's what crashed with those words being said

Well that's an appropriate reaction.

It's pretty sad that someone's life can be so depressing that they act like this when a game dets delayed.

Keep your chin up. Next Tuesday maybe? Just another few days. Sure they are putting the finishing touches on it as we speak! Don't give up all. :). Patience is a virtue. Success will taste sweet!

Honestly I understand what you're saying. It's a game, who cares.

But to me, it's not the game it's more the concept. I don't care when things get delayed, I can wait. I do care when I'm left in the dark though.

I haven't really been asking for the dawnguard to be released or anything, I simply asked for a timeframe. It would be all I needed at least. But, don't care anymore.

PSN won't update it till tuesday. Essentially since PSN tells us what they will put on their store, there is no such thing as a surprise release.

From what has happened in the past, Bethesda will not announce anything until they are sure they will make the date.

Don't bypass the autocensor or flame-bait other players, please. Platform bashing isn't allowed here.

I agree 100% dude. And since when has Bethesda actually taken the time to actually refine anything they've ever done. Skyrim's base game was shipped broken and from what I hear, Dawnguard on the other platforms isn't much better. It's evidence such as this that makes me question why Bethesda is taking the time to really refine their work and take their time NOW of all times, especially when you have an entire fanbase who is anticipating it's release and is starting to get a little pissed. Honestly, I don't give a toss if they piss or go fishin' at this point, Borderlands 2, Assassin's Creed 3 and Bioshock Infinite are gonna be a thousand times more worthwhile anyway. I don't mind the waiting, but this entire marketing campaign has been a PR nightmare for them. A release date would be appreciated, that way we don't feel like the kid at the table who never got any food.

Waiting for Dawnguard is like waiting for a new PS3 controller. You're really excited to get, then it's not so exciting once you use it.

Yeah it is simple to narrow down the issue to just entertainment. When that happens it seems petty. However, narrowing my disappointment and anger down to simply a lack of patience is not even the tip of the iceberg. I am angry and disappointed because of the way Beth has handled this entire matter. The delay is really the side issue. If they came out at any time and told us that they would release Dawnguard on 9/28/12 then I'd be angry, but at least I'd have a clear end in sight. It isn't simply a delay that makes me angry dude.

Here is what I want.

I want Beth to be able to program for or pay to have their stuff ported to the PS3. - Not asking too much.

I (as a consumer) would like to be informed as to when and how much their products will cost so I can make plans for the purchase and be excited about the product. - This is good for me and for them.

I would like to be notified in a timely manner when there is a problem with a product they are trying to get to me, and told what their plan and timetable is to get it to me.

All these focus on communication, and skill at PR and Developing. Something Bethesda is obviously lacking in at this time.
