PS3 Release for Dawnguard - Thread #6

Post » Sat Nov 17, 2012 11:22 pm

That what I'm getting at they put the game out on the PS3. Why would they not put out DLC too.

The DLC is delayed, not cancelled.

The wait kills :swear: . I own both a ps3 and xbox, im to stubborn to go out and buy skyrim for my xbox again or even spend money on dawngaurd for xbox. I love ps3 ive never had probelms playing any bethdesa games on it, call me lucky I guess, but back to the point, i dont care if there are tiny bugs in the thing as long as it plays im fine, but just waiting here without any update on why it wont work or anything is just irresponsible, If i was part of this company and i saw how unhappy everyone is then id deffinately say something, but of course no one is willing to let us in on any updates, summers over for me and probably many others now, when it started i was so happy and excited for it to come out after the 30 days for xbox, but when i saw it wasnt thats what made me mad. luckily for me my friend had it for xbox so i could actually play it a little bit, but besides that i couldnt even be able to experience it on my own cause of this, all me and almost everyone else wants is to know is if it will even come out for ps3 and if it will what super bad DLC breaking bug is messing this up? but sadly seeing how poor bethdesa is at being here for their ps3 community just makes me see i wont get my questions answered anytime soon..

Pete Hines' twitter feed:

?@donaldbalow
RANDOM PERSON : , Lastly, I would have to say that the way you guys treat ps3 gamers is pretty crappy. Dawnguard will be old news when it hits ps3

Pete Hines https://twitter.com/donaldbalow I assure you we would have released it by now if we thought it ran well enough to release.

@storm_watcher18 (THATS ME) Cant you be specific on how close it is to being done? like 25% ready 75% ready...anything would be appreciated.

So...i am still waiting on a response from pete....just looking for something!!!!

Think about this: Would you pay $20 for the companions questline??? That is 1/3 what you paid for the whole game. This DLC is $10 at best. 4.99 with all the bugs. The selling point for this was the Vampire Lord and like the werewolf it's not leveled up. So if you are thinking of starting Dawnguard at lvl 50 it will be useless, like the werewolf. Sure, some people said they went 40 hrs on it. It's the same as if I travel from Riften to markarth back and forth on foot. That way vanilla game will last 1000 hrs. I saw this thing already in youtube and it didn't even last 3 hours. Sure the story is great, but not worth the money. Ohh, and dragon weapons, they just saw that modders made them and decided to charge you money for them. The modded weapons look way much better.

I sometimes wonder that if they can't get dawnguard to work properly, what then? Sure we don't get the dawnguard story line, but do we get the important little things? I mean the flagon face changer and dragonbone weapons, does Beth scrap this as well for ps3 users? Crossbows, werewolf perk tree, new shouts? Would we get these in further patches? Or does the probable failure of dawnguard just remove the chance of any future support? No more patches would be extreme even for big Beth but I wouldn't completely dismiss it either. I also assume that giving us ps3 users the VL in a different manner wouldn't be out of the question, right? I don't see this actually transpiring because this is my nightmare scenario for skyrim. Although when I think about it vanilla skyrim was nightmare....so not sure what to think. Beth you have screwed me a couple times already(and not just with this game...although couple still applies to skyrim not counting fallout 3 right now, although that was a couple times as well) can I get off the bed or...are you not done yet? I am pretty sore though.

Agreed 100%, but actually the modded ones had a few that were just copies of the orcish weapons but made to look like bones. So, those svcked. But I agree the ones that weren't orcish look so much better than Dawnguards.

Ok then. simple, don't buy Dawnguard.

No. I can literally guarantee that there will be no discount or special offer. One reason being that it's completely ridiculous and another is that they've delayed DLC's from the PS3 for like 9 months before and no discount was given then so it wouldn't make sense that one would be granted now.

Why is everyone getting so upset? There's this thing called patience you know... Bethesda don't owe you anything. They don't even have to release it for PS3. As for losing money PS3 makes up the least sales and they already have money from Microsoft.

Glad I decided not to be mad about DG release. I mean, I was able to get NV for $20 and last night picked up Deus Ex for the same

The way I see it.. I bought two DG priced items that are complete games. Not only that, but the more I think about it the more I am starting to agree with folks about the price of the DLC. Hopefully Bethesda will take a different approach with the next DLC and keep folks informed

Seriously? The news for PS3 users is still "there is no news"? If i had bought Skyrim for my PS3 i would've just walked away from this company already. (As i bought it for PC i just go :shakehead: and mod it oblivion ).

That's why I decided to spend my money on other games. That way I have plenty to do until DG releases in 6 months for PS3

Edit: I'm only joking about the 6 months. It could be more like 1-2

Discount? I vote free. Not that it's likely to happen, but I believe we deserve that after all this crap. Well, sort of. I mean, we haven't actually gotten anything. Crap would be something. This is nothing.

XBox gets the exclusive period.
Then the PC gets it, and they can mod it to make up for any shortcomings it might have (lucky ones :P).
PS3 still hasn't gotten anything but treated like trash. No information from Beth except when they say they have no information. I would easily describe Bethesda as an angry child giving us the silent treatment.

So you're going to blame Bethesda for Sony creating a system that is not only a nightmare to code for (which is a claim that has been backed up by game companies), but then they're stingy with their source code and distrustful of 3rd party developers?

Unlike Microsoft, Sony doesn't hand out it's source code all at once. They piece-meal it out (even once the licensing fees are paid out) as if the 3rd party developers are going to try to steal PSN or something. Microsoft and Nintendo hand out their codes all at once as long as the developer pays the proper licensing fees.

Not to mention that a ton of developers are always [censored]ing about how the 6-cell Processor and the divided HDD are extrememly difficult to program for.

But it's still Bethesda's fault?

What would you like Bethesda to say? "Sorry for the wait, but you guys chose the most [censored] up system to play games on and the coding gives us waking nightmares as we try to find a way to get the damn thing to work..." or "We'd love to give you guys Dawnguard, but since Sony is playing 'spoiled-brat' with their source code, we got nothing."?

How would this help you in any way?

But no, it's so much easier to blame the developer rather than the system you dumped over $400 into, even when it's well documented that said system is the source and cause of 90% of your problems.

I really wish people would do more research...

In my mind, this is pretty simple. Every game has bugs, but they are released anyway. Dawnguard has bugs on the Xbox, and it also has bugs on the PC. They will patch them at a later date, meanwhile the Xbox/PC users are actually playing and enjoying Dawnguard. If they were to release it on PS3, it wouldn't take a genius to make a backup save file, play it, enjoy it and if you have any bugs you have a backup file just in case.

Regardless, the longer they keep us in the dark, more people are thinking, "You know what, I'm going to spend my money on another game, or another piece of DLC" and Bethesda are losing money (probably about 1/3 of their customer base). It's not so much about the delay, more about the fact they are keeping us clueless as to what is going on. And the worst thing, in my opinion, is that we won't be getting any compensation (for lack of a better word). Considering we have been delayed this long, I think it should be mandatory that the DLC price is cut down a little bit. Alas, that will never happen, and Beth has lost my faith with this DLC shambles.

Oh and at the above post, I'm pretty sure Beth could easily hire some specially trained PS3 coders to make the game work for us.

People who say that Sony is to blame because of how difficult it is to code for the PS3, don't know what there saying. I mean, this would mean that every developer outhere who makes games for PS3 and also offers DLC, will delay there DLC because of problems. I don't see that happening...Bethesda is to blame here, if they KNEW this would happen than firstly they had to put more people on it and start work sooner. And lastly they could have just said it officially "Coding for the PS3 is to much trouble, so our next DLC will be delayed". Yes it sounds dumb, but at least they would say it and not "We are not satisfied ...", in other words it's like saying "We knew this was going to happen, but we didn't plan accordingly so now we have extra work and we got to fix it soon".

And like many others have said, if Beth has problems coding for the PS3 then they should ask support or help regarding their problems to other developers who CAN do it and most importantly CAN DO IT ON TIME.

There are a number of games that have had rocky PS3 releases, but ran much better on other platforms. Alpha Protocal comes to mind, and I believe I've seen some similar complaints about Darksiders II. I don't really follow PS3 released, but I've seen a number of such names thrown out in discussions like this.

However this matter is rather off-topic and I suspect if the debate continues this thread will start to get flamey - so it's probably best for both sides to drop it and move on.

Well, Uriel, here's the thing. I wasn't talking about the lack of DG for the PS3. Wouldn't bug me so much if there was something approaching communication from Bethesda. Naturally, I'd prefer to have DG than the communication, but I'd take the communication. I don't even really care what the communication would be, from an apology to a dev diary. I can understand a lack of timeframe, since some problems can be unpredictable and, as such, are hard or even impossible to set a timeframe for.

From your post, it would seem that you only wanted a chance to say that the PS3 is a waste of money. Then don't buy it. I'll spend my money how I see fit. Bethesda thought it was worth putting the game out on the PS3, and so I expect it to get the same treatment as the other platforms. I don't think that's too much to ask.

Except in the case of that exclusivity thing. I thought it was annoying, but it's just business. What's going on with Dawnguard on the PS3 now is insulting. My math for that conclusion as follows: No Dawnguard + Silent Treatment = Insulting
My math isn't very strong by any stretch, but I feel that bit adds up perfectly.
