PS3 Release for Dawnguard - Thread #19

Post » Sun Nov 18, 2012 5:07 am

Everyone needs to be civil about this subject. While it's perfectly fine to have a negative opinion about the lack of a solid release date, there is a way to express yourself in a civil and mature way. We do not want to see immature hostile posts or personal insults against other forum members.

It has been http://www.bethblog.com/2012/08/02/dawnguard-ps3-update/ that the PS3 version will be delayed a bit as they are still working to ensure acceptable performance on the platform.
Also we now have the news that the https://twitter.com/elderscrolls/status/239177833199583235 so hopefully Dawnguard for the PS3 is closer. (**Now released**)

Earlier in the month, we provided an update on Dawnguard's status for PS3.

It's been a few weeks, and we wanted to make sure everyone knows where we're at with Dawnguard. Skyrim is a massive and dynamic game that requires a lot of resources, and things get much more complex when you're talking about sizable content like Dawnguard. We have tried a number of things, but none of them solve the issue enough to make Dawnguard good for everyone. The PS3 is a powerful system, and we're working hard to deliver the content you guys want. Dawnguard is obviously not the only DLC we’ve been working on either, so the issues of adding content get even more complicated. This is not a problem we’re positive we can solve, but we are working together with Sony to try to bring you this content.

We wish we had a more definitive answer right now. We understand the frustration when the same content is not available on all platforms. When we have an update, we will certainly let you know. We deeply appreciate all the time and support you have given us, and we’ll keep doing our best to return that.

I like it when a new thread opens because I get to see that quote of Dawnguard will be delayed a bit lol. What do you guys class as a bit? I'd dread to think if you guys said something was delayed a LONG time imagine that lol

Let's keep this one a little more civil than the last one or there won't be a thread #20, yes?

So you're going to punish every PS3 person here who wants to talk about DG, and consequently DLC on PS3, because of a few people?

I'm just wondering because if that's what is going to happen with the forums, then I might be really done with Bethesda. Putting it all on an entire group because some people can't maintain their cool when Bethesda is constantly stomping on their emotions and patience....sheesh.

And I say that with all due respect and I understand you need to maintain civility, but my suggestion would always be to treat it with a case by case basis. To do so otherwise is very unprofessional. You should be expecting that from time to time, people will get a bit testy because of all this. After all, this whole mess was created by people within your company...or the company which you represent on these boards, I'm not sure if part of the employees of Bethesda or not, and I wouldn't blame all employees regardless; just those responsible for the direct work on, and the decision to release, such a bad port.

Then if everyone does their part to help maintain this thread by reporting off topic, lack of civility and any other posts that contravene forum rules the thread will stay alive. We [the moderators] have worked hard to keep these threads going and allow everyone a chance to add their opinions, even been more lax with some of the content as we realise the amount of annoyance and frustration that some feel about it. However, if one of us turn up to find a succession of posts, not only being vulgar but also attacking other posters because of their opinions, is it any wonder we get grumpy and fed up with it all?

So, as the OP states, stay civil and constructive and there will be no problems. OK?

Dear moderators,

I would change the quote you use in every new thread about the delay regarding Dawnguard for PS3. It's misleading, these posts you use where posted LONG ago. It's like it's just announced when you do it like this. 1.7 Europe is already 2 weeks ago, like it's now posted, it's like it was released yesterday.

I would use something like this:

The official DLC Dawnguard has been delayed. This was available for XBOX on 26 june. The PC version was released on second day of august. The PS3 version will be released in the coming years. We are facing serious problems regarding coding on the PS3. We have had the same problems with earlier games but still decided to change nothing. Not only did PS3 users face major problems when The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim was released on 11/11/2011, it's still going.

When Dawnguard will be released, you will be able to buy it at full price. We hope you keep on waiting while we are working on it. Unfortunately we can't say anything regarding the progress of fixing these problems. Of course we do hope you don't mind. Lastly we advise you to spend your money on available DLC for other games right now or maybe invest it in complete new games. Borderlands 2 will be out on 18 september (21 Europe) and a month later Assassin's Creed 3 will be released. Shortly after that Far Cry 3 and Hitman: Absolution will be released. You can however buy Dishonored from us if you still support us.

This would actually be the truth and most importantly be up to date.

Sincerly a fan who has been waiting for to long and who gets no information what so ever. You promised me and a lot of fans that Skyrim would be different and you were right it was..it still had major problems even when you said the new engine would solve all that. I hope you can understand when saying something similar about future games won't mean anything to me.

This is all I'm going to say on this.

Us reporting things is Optional (at least I think it is, of course though abusing stuff that is posted and not reporting it is just as bad as posting how to abuse something). It is still your job. I come into the thread today to see if there is any news, and there is a fairly snarky comment to the group as a whole. I get it, you get fed up with your job. I do to, but I don't shake a wagging finger at my entire customer base because a few guys want to be jackasses. I especially don't care for it when I'm away the whole time and come back after it is over.

You know what I did? I just skipped those posts. If I had a button to do so, I would have removed them. No questions asked, just removed them and sent a message. Maybe this should be in a PM to you guys, but since they were made public by the OP, you've now made it a public thing.

And that's that, I'm done with that part of the topic. The situation has resolved itself as far as I'm concerned.

So when it comes to my personal issue of solving this Vanilla game and DLC problem, I posted on the last thread that I had contacted Customer Service about getting a replacement version of the game so I can play it on PC. Recap: First email was the DG explanation, copy and paste, that has been made public when I made no mention in the email about the DG, or DLC in general, just that I didn't like the PS3 version and wanted to try it out on the PC. I replied stating this fact and got a replacement fee list of items for the game if it has been 90 days since purchase. Obviously the retailer is not going to let me trade it in, game for game, even if it was within 90 days which is the whole reason I asked. So I sent in another email, just to get a confirmation that if I sent them $10 (btw, replacement PS3 Skyrim disc post-90 days? $20) plus my PS3 game that I would get a PC version instead.

If the game doesn't work on my PC, oh well I'm out $10 more than the original price which I can settle for. If it works, that's awesome. I just hope I get a reply soon. Customer Service was so quick to answer my first two emails within 12 hours, even though the first response was a [censored] copy and paste that showed they never even read my first inquiry and take me for a [censored] idiot. I understand my last email was friday night, maybe they don't work on the weekends, but we'll see what happens today.

Yeah uhh... don't talk down the mod.

Those mods aren't quite the same though and it doesn't include all the things hearthfire does, otherwise no one on PC would wanna buy

Hearthfire really seems it is more of a PC mod that Beth is selling to console gamers really.

Well, so far the entire DG and Hearthfire DLC's were actually part of the "1 week do anything you want to do with the game" that Bethesda did for itself and were actually implemented. Don't know if you saw that video, but I'll try to find a link.

Well that could be but many console players want it for themselves regardless.

I think more so what's being referred to is that the PC can take advantage of the DLC with mods, so increasing what currently people mod and what is offered through the DLC and making some new combination.

Making house creation easier, making new deco and so on

I know I would want it, regardless if I'm on my PS3 or potentially the PC.

From what I heard from some modders is that this is a welcome addition because it's going to be easier to use the DLC to access a lot of stuff that they could put into a mod themselves, but it would have required a lot more work....like adoption, or butlers, etc. Now all they have to do is cut and paste and change a few parameters on any mod that would say be a house they created themselves.

Snarky remarks don't go down well, especially as you have no idea if I use mods or not. For your information firstly I have a couple of small follower mods from the workshop and secondly I do sympathize with the problems the PS3 users have. What I don't sympathize with is those who post on here to cause trouble with ill informed and unnecessary posts.

Haha I'd be scared that by showing you that there was a succession of breaks in the discussion that needed attention that'd I'd be speeding up the time to get it shut down xD
We would much rather move in as soon as problems were seen than (as I said earlier) be faced with a lot of off topic and rude "posts" (not allowed to use bad language  ). It is better atm to loose a few problem members and allow everyone else to continue than face the thought of closing these threads down.

Guys, believe it or not we are OK with these threads continuing, all I ask is you help maintain them.

Ya I know it offers more options but most of those option have been done in other mods so really not that much. Expect seeing your house in construstion form that's what I see the differences in HF and PC mods.

Beth may have made the build your house first before the PC modders but i'm still standing on that it still seem more of a PC mod than that of a DLC because of its size and all.

What suprise me about the video is they can do all that in a week but not fix the base game properly. Which agian PC modders fixed in two weeks and Beth is still working on it nine months later.
