PS3 Release for Dawnguard - Thread #20

Post » Sun Nov 18, 2012 5:16 am

Keeping it going...

Everyone needs to be civil about this subject. While it's perfectly fine to have a negative opinion about the lack of a solid release date, there is a way to express yourself in a civil and mature way. We do not want to see immature hostile posts or personal insults against other forum members.

It has been announced on the Bethblog that the PS3 version will be delayed a bit as they are still working to ensure acceptable performance on the platform.
Also we now have the news that the 1.7 update for PS3 (Europe) projected to go live on Monday so hopefully Dawnguard for the PS3 is closer. (**Now released**)

Gstaff, on 30 August 2012 - 07:52 PM, said:

Earlier in the month, we provided an update on Dawnguard's status for PS3.

It's been a few weeks, and we wanted to make sure everyone knows where we're at with Dawnguard. Skyrim is a massive and dynamic game that requires a lot of resources, and things get much more complex when you're talking about sizable content like Dawnguard. We have tried a number of things, but none of them solve the issue enough to make Dawnguard good for everyone. The PS3 is a powerful system, and we're working hard to deliver the content you guys want. Dawnguard is obviously not the only DLC we’ve been working on either, so the issues of adding content get even more complicated. This is not a problem we’re positive we can solve, but we are working together with Sony to try to bring you this content.

We wish we had a more definitive answer right now. We understand the frustration when the same content is not available on all platforms. When we have an update, we will certainly let you know. We deeply appreciate all the time and support you have given us, and we’ll keep doing our best to return that.

I don't even know why we have this threads. There's nothing to discuss. The DLC isn't coming, and if it it will probably be in months or next year. Just close this thread. That's all ..

You should really wait until the mods have closed the previous thread and after they've gone over it they could decide whether they're ready to create another one or not.

Threads about this subject pop up all the time, used to be one every hour, and the mods want it kept to one particular thread so having one open gives them a place to redirect people.

And every time, always it's Xbox 360 fan boys that discuss. All they say is negative things about the PS3 version. That it shouldn't deserve nothing at all, and that it's our fault for buying this game so we are stuck with it. So really close the thread cause there's nothing to discuss. It's the same thing repeated over and over and over again. So yeah. Just close this thread for the 3rd time i say.

I actually see a whole lot more PS3 users using these threads for their intended purposes than I do "Xbox fan boys" posting negative or rude comments. The thread is open for the PS3 users to discuss and display their conern over the current debacle with Skyrim's DLC. Whether everyone is basically repeating the same thing or not, people still like each voice their own concerns.

YEAH. I'd like to say that BETHESDA is being very POOPY. THAT'S RIGHT, you heard me, I said POOPY. POOOOOOOOOOOPY.

Anyways, I'm pretty much over Skyrim now. With Borderlands 2 releasing soon, I won't have time for Dawnguard even if it does get released. Bethesda had their chance and decided to take a dookie all over the PS3 users. They'd have to make an amazing offer to get me to buy Dawnguard.

Governments and businesses love people like yourself. "You don't like the way you're being treated but you're not bothering to speak up and do anything about it? Wonderful. We'll carry on treating you like crap then."

My point is things will never change or improve if you don't mention your dissatisfaction. Otherwise you're making it all too easy for companies to just sweep the problem under the rug and carry on like nothing happened.

considering that (at least to my understanding) the problem with the PS# version is the machine having trouble remembering where you left each individual cheese wheel and cabbage from Whiterun to Sovngarde it would seem to me that it would be more difficult to port Hearthfire than Dawnguard. With so many moving parts and pieces that are different from game to game and have to be constantly remembered and projected through the system it might be too much if they can't figure out how to rework it with Dawnguard.

I have already and guess what? No one cared a rat's flying ass about it. Not even Bethesda Game Studios. Like i said .. this threads are for nothing, but don't get me wrong i am also not interested in any other DLC at all. They keep saying new DLC will complicate things so what's the point of having Hearthfire?

I should be clear that I don't expect any piece of DLC for the PS3 version.

It is so we can keep all the discussion to one thread and save a multitude of separate ones being made. As an aside, these threads are used by the same few people, the number of threads made so far is not indicative of the amount of dissatisfaction, they are a place for the vocal few to hang out.

"Not indicative of the level of satisfaction" Huh huh...

I tend to disagree.
What would you consider indicative of the level of satisfaction?

I believe most people have just given up.

I .... disagree. Kinda strongly actually.

I don't think it is the same few people. In fact every time I come in here there are different people. I think you mods are fooling yourselves to think that this is just an isolated few who have taken to ranting about this issue. The fire is spreading. If your feelings on this forum are at all indicative of Bethesda's feelings, then the situation is bleak for sure.

Thread 18 had 8 members making half the posts and this has happened in a similar way through most of the previous threads. Don't get me wrong, I do sympathise with the lack of release of DG for the PS3, it would be nice if the users of that console could also enjoy, what I found to be, an excellent DLC, all I was pointing out was that because there was 20 threads of 200+ posts it does not reflect that number of unhappy members.

I've yet to post in these threads but I have been lurking for a long time. Mostly to see for updates. There are many unhappy people, just because members aren't posting hardly makes it less of an issue or that people are less satisfied. Honestly the PS3 user base had the same problem with Fallout 3 (another game I love). There is just a lack of communication and what really appears to be a lack of concern from Bethesda.

I love the games but I don't see why I should be punished for the platform I play it on. Oblivion was fine because it was ported by a team who actually took time in making it work for the platform. After Fallout 3 and the very noticeable drop in quality between the console versions I would've hoped they would at least ensure they didn't repeat the same error. I'm not asking for much, just parity between the two console versions. Bethesda have honestly gotten away with this pretty much unscathed apart from the community and I'm surprised at how little stink the press have made over the situation. I haven't posted before because all I would post is vitriol because the quality of the PS3 version and the indefinite delay of DLC has left a bitter taste in my mouth.

The PS3 sales must be low enough for them not to care very much, you can blame the architecture of the PlayStation 3 all you want but it isn't like this is new to Bethesda studios. The fact is that the PS3 version of the game is a lazy port, if PS3 had paid for timed exclusives you can be damn certain more time and effort would have been invested.

I remember the assurances Pete Hines gave to the PS3 community saying the console versions were on par with each other. Honestly folks I'd be surprised if the DLC ever comes to the PS3. If anything we may get a Skyrim GOTY edition with all the content. Perhaps they could spend time making sure that edition actually is on par with the 360 version. Ha!

Well that is my opinion.

I'm sorry this is just incorrect, checking individual IPs that have been lurking the thread would be a much better indicator of how many people are actually angry/dissatisfied. I've been lurking every thread since #10 hoping for some sort of update however all I've seen is Bethesda dodging questions, a PR campaign to turn 'we released a faulty product and couldn't be bothered to fix it until now' into 'I'm sorry the PS3 has innate problems that we are trying to get around, have patience' and then having to bring in Sony for their own game that they have been working on for years.

I'm not angry any more, I'm disappointed and I've given up: Dawnguard and every other DLC isn't coming to the PS3 because Bethesda couldn't be bothered to sort out the original problems in the first place. They raked in more than enough money of several games to bring in a specialised team of PS3 programmers that would have avoided this issue like it has been avoided on many other Open World Games. If they release Dawnguard- they best be ready for it to flop because PS3 gamers just can't be bothered with them any more, their PR has been horrendous and they have tried to blame a system for problems that is unique to their game studio.

If they want Dawnguard to sell they best bundle it with a Hearthfire and do it for 15 because without a proper incentive, PS3 users just aren't going to notice anymore. Maybe next time they should try to treat their customers with some respect instead of a cash cow who they can't be bothered to actually talk to.
