PS3 Release for Dawnguard - Thread #23

Post » Sun Nov 18, 2012 12:21 pm

So I guess Arthmoor (the creator of the Unofficial Dawnguard Patch) and others are able to make something "too difficult" for Bethesda devs to make? Some modders?

Lots of ignorance out there..
I don't know... Right now I'm falling more and more in line with the idea that some members of the modding community are better than some of Bethesda's employees. I don't take that as a general rule or anything, but I don't think it's out of the question either.

Unfortunately the best forumite to explain the nuts and bolts of the differences between the modders creations and what Bethesda are able to do because he is a programmer, was recently perma banned by the moderatiors.

From what I gather though in basic terms there are some files and code groups that modders routinely change that have certain dependencies that aren't as straightforward to change on the console. It possibly creates issues with certification or patching or the file types concerned are encrypted possibly as part of PSN operation but regardless of reason it still does not excuse Bethesda's stance towards the PS3.

Problem isn't in making the DLC patches, it's distributing them. They can't release those patches to only those who have the DLC, they'd have to release it for everyone. Whereas unofficial patches are mods, and those who want them download it themselves.

...Though maybe it would be possible to release the DLC patch as another DLC via PSN and XBox Live?I don't think this issue applies to Steam, though i may be mistaken.

The mention of modders or other third parties being capable of patching up DG for PS3 got me thinking... perhaps like other insoluble problems of our time Beth. could make it a contest. If putting up a prize can result in low-orbit commercial spaceflight, or a proof of Fermat's last theorem; there might be a remote possibility it could bring about a stable version of Skyrim for PS3.

I know it will be objected that this would be a risk to the security of Bethesda's intellectual property... but if we're realistic, I can hardly imagine Naughty Dog, Eidos, or the North Koreans are salivating at the prospect of getting hold of the secrets of Beth. PS3 coding... just put it out there and say... I dunno... free pre-order of FA4 to whoever sorts this mess.

If you threw in a couple of fifty notes, hell, I'd consider hiring a dozen monkeys to hammer on keyboards 'til it was sorted... you never know your luck.

Hah. They don't even accept to merge the USKP into the console versions, like if they're gonna accept that (both Bethesda and Sony)...you'd be better waiting for pigs to grew up wings and go flying.

Still no word from Bethesda about Dawnguards current state? I hope they can get this DLC ready at least by or on Halloween. How awesome will that be?
I gave up on buying Dawnguard a long time ago, the only way I will buy it now is if it gets released by Halloween because of my inner Halloweener will want to play as a vampire lord. xD
Just come out with Dawnguard so I can have Hearthfire! That's all I truely want right now ._.

Keep mind that modder's work mostly with the PC not the PS3, why both are technically computers the PS3 is a different animal with far tighter restrictions and limitations then the PC. Modders that do tamper with the PS3 are very unlikely to come foward and say hey here is a fix.

Point taken... I was mostly just taking the piss out of Bethesda anyway.

honestly if unofficial patches could be made in a months time that got the game working more so how it should have been working, why couldn't beth take a month and do the exact same thing before release?

If DLC is an issue to patch, then make sure it runs great with little issue before releasing it.

Im on PC and how many times I had to use console commands before that unofficial patch came out was ridiculous And even then I had a game just become completely corrupt and had to do a full deletion of the files cause there was no way in hell of fixing it.

Honestly Bethesda should've made 'Skyrim' in the same mold as 'Borderlands 1 or 2'.. yes, 'Borderlands' is a big open world, but only portions (or cells, if you want) are what's loaded, progress far enough in the cell, enemies respawn, loot disappears - leave the cell everything is flushed from memory to load the new cell.. 'Borderlands GOTY' on my PS3 is extremely stable as is 'BL 2' for my 360.. Instead of giving us 1 enormous open world (which, like it or not will be prone to glitches/freezes and unfortunately game breaking bugs) they could've give 1 enormous world split into (say) 4 areas, with all the quests and what nots we could need for the those areas.

just a thought.

haha btw canyourunit is a liar!!!

It will say you don't have the minimum requirements. It will say your items are not good enough quality. But when you check side by side, everything it says the minimum item has, you have a greater quality item, yet it still slaps it with failure. Get the game anyways, and it'll still run.

That would reduce the need for Ram quite a bit but, Beth doesnt seem to like such ideas :P

There should be a few areas that remember what was there though of course, like the safe chest to store items.

All of the dawnguard areas are actually in separate Cells though so dunno how much that would help.

I see, Going to do that as well, I sold oh...7 games last week got 128 bucks, paid off not only my Assassin Creed 3 preorder but my black ops 2 preorder, as well picked up Blazeblue: Continuum shift extend preowned. I already had my AC 3 liberation paid off weeks prior so i didn't have to worry about that. I thinking about preordering MGS reveageance and DmC next.

Honestly everyone, just stop caring. Move on, there are so many other great games coming out. FU** Bethesda!!! Its October 1st now. I promised I'd give bethesda till then. That day has come and gone! I don't know who Bethesda thinks they are, even the NFL's problem with the Referee's got settled. How the HELL can something much less grandeur like a FU**ING DLC be more complicated that its been more than 3 months and still no resolution??!!! I'm calling BS on this. Bethesda's just lying and doing the same thing they've done with their other games on the PS3!!

And gamefly says they only give you 9 bucks xD

Sometimes what they give you is real low, but if you'd not touched your games in 2 years or so get the money for it, it adds up lol

Just remember if you are switching platforms, don't buy a new copy, pre-owned purchase saves you from rewarding Bethesda for this failure, apart from any DLC you may purchase in the future. ;)

You'd think Bethesda would have patched that stupid water bug. But you still have to delete your game data, and reinstall the game. Then download the latest patch.

actually i just deleted and reinstalled the other week , the water glitch has come back again since installing the latest update :( we can't keep reinstalling all the time its crazy, i don't have to do this for any other games.

Yh i agree i don't care about it anymore, i honestly think they are lying like your saying, they can't be having that much trouble with it when other companies can sort it out easily.
