PS3 Release for Dawnguard - Thread #23

Post » Sun Nov 18, 2012 5:38 am

...

Sorry to rain in your optimistic mood, but Dawnguard takes place mostly on separated worldspaces...and you see already the status of it in the PS3...
Damm... new I shouldn't have checked back... this thread is a terrible place to go on an otherwise pleasant weekend... curse you Bethesda.

I shouldn't be surprised the system it's TOO sophisticated and If Bethesda says they need more time lol they seriously need more time because what's better getting a working DLC, a half working DLC, or a completely broken DLC

Do you guys think Bethesda will release DG for full price without any sort of apology, because that would really be a slap in the face for people who have really wanted it and waited through all this BS to get a product that isn't even worth this much wait.

They always release their DLC for PS3 late at full price, with no apology. It's not a slap in the face, it's just a broken record.

I don't need any apology. I'd be more than happy enough if from the next week (where the cursed 360 exclusivity dies once and for all), they release a decent patch for both Skyrim and Dawnguard, and some news about an epic third DLC.

Apparently patching a DLC is very difficult, don't see why. I can download unofficial patches for dawnguard so I don't see why they couldn't just have a patch.

This is exactly why I want to get FONV's Ultimate Edition (that's what it's called, right?). I absolutely loved the game and got the first DLC, but it needed a lot of ironing out and the rest of the expansions were taking far too long, so I sold it over a year ago (I think) and plan on re-buying it soon ($35 for all of it is more than a fair price). I should probably do the same with Skyrim.

DON'T DO IT. I bought the U.E. because I enjoyed NV when it first came out, and never got around to the DLC. It was so buggy and terrible that I was pretty much restarting my PS3 once an hour or less. This was on a fresh file, too. Not one that I had hundreds of hours on, it was probably less than 10 hours of gameplay.

That the one with so much lag that it moved 1 frame every 10 seconds?

Its a limitation on the consoles, they can't isolate patches based on DLC unless it runs like an independent game(like Undead Nightmare, Festival of Blood, etc). So everyone with Skyrim would get the DLC patches regardless of whether or not they had them. Imagine playing the game on PC with the unofficial dawnguard patch running without Dawnguard loaded. Further more the consoles 360/PS3 both lack the ability to control load order so the DLC may end up being loaded after the patch overriding any fixes. It be possible to patch the PC version but they won't go that extra mile for the PC and leave console players out to dry. (and PC modders will spend hundreds of hours doing it for free so the PC version is covered anyway).

The consoles just aren't set up right to allow DLC patching.

Just remember Oblivion:
XBOX- Shivering Isles, Horse Armor, and Nights of the Nine
PC- Shivering Isles, Nights of the Nine
PS3- Shivering Isles

I'm probably wrong, but so far I'm seeing a trend.

Actually you are wrong, the PS3 verison came with Knights of the Nine, and the Shivering Isles was made available on PSN at the same time as the GOTY verison.(which had both Knights of the Nine and Shivering Isles). The PC had all the DLC the Xbox did and when we came around to Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas the ps3 got every DLC the 360 did.

So the only trend is the ps3 gets the DLC later. Oblivion was released on the ps3 a year after the 360 and the work was done by a 3rd party company and at the time Bethesda didn't think there was enough ps3 users to support converting the smaller DLC's by the time Fallout 3 came around that was no longer true.

wow 2 months and nothings changed.. sad face really. I too started a new character in preperation for DG, that char has now come close to my main char now.. Nearly everythings done except theives which got bugged on my main account. Im 2 from platnium xD!

Ive really lost all faith in beth. THANK GOD theyre not doing the online, i know its pc only but jesus they would find a way to break it into pieces. Heres a story for you all.

The day was anticipated. I knew when i stayed up for 2 days straight waiting for it that it would be worth it. The day, was 11-11-11. The day to be remember as the EPIC release of skyrim. I was promised a leather bound-fur coated map made for special orders as was promised for pre-ordering. I had a friend with me who decided to dress up as an assassin from Oblivion, which we'd been playing for a week straight.

I got to gamestop just as the line began to start. I had 2 hours to wait till midnight. The wind was cold, yet oddly comfortable surrounded by people who loved this game as much as I did. We talked of things promised, of games of old. Slowly the line shrank. We saw people exiting the store with glee as they held high their purchase. Some praised, others scowled. But none could wait to get home.

Finally the time came. I got to the lines end, showed my receit, got my copy, went to the car extactic, opened the case to see my leatherbound-... wait what? This is made of wallpaper.. and its printed?! Surely this is a mistake. Owell who cares! I drove home at speeds pushing safety, put the game in and was overjoyed. I learned of the war, of ulfric. I get to the front, they ask my name, the camera spins and.. Freeze. Confused, i restart my ps3, start over and vwala! From that moment on i was bug free, i played for 30 hours straight! I remember once when i was exiting a cave outside of ivarstead to see a mammoth fall from the sky, slam into the ground and all the giants and mammoths around came chargiing. I welcomed the fight.

Months later i hear of dawnguard, watch the trailer and was amazed. I thought, shivering isles, eat your heart out. Who needs a fancy land of paranoia when i can be a freaking vampire lord! The days went by and there i was. Same anticipation as the day skyrim released. But the map i thought, i was let down. The opening glitch i thought, noway this would happene again right?

Wrong.. terribly wrong.

Here i was, waiting on dg on the tuesday it should have released, when the message from gstaff, PC GETS DG! But ps3 CAN EAT A DlCK. o.o... Months later and i feel like my skyrim charater. Cheated, lied to, and forced to overcome obstacles i should never had to face in the first place.

This guy know alittle bit more then most of these youtube vids but not much.
he missed one little bit of info, Bethesda said dawnguard is working for the ps3 but just not all systems, just like when Skyrim first came out for ps3. so its a memory leak problem, ( witch by the way falls on the head of Bethesda & there ps3 porters. ) & bethesda has said ( mainly because if they don't get it working it'll make them look even worse because even the media is on are side. ) that they will get it working, they don't know when but they will get it working, dawnguard will not be cancelled for ps3.
i have said this in like 3 other of these dawnguard threads, most of them are responing to a youtube vid link someone posted where most of the persons info is wrong. just based on what we know of so far.
so as always when something happens people on youtube tell there viewers false informtion just to get people to go on a witch hunt. lol.
but overall i'll give the person in the video this. he knew some of the correct info, not all but more then most. - Againstallodds14

I'm very angry with Bethesda over Dawnguard and their treatment of PS3 users, but I never saw anywhere that pre-orders were promised such a good map. I thought they just said a cloth map and the map Bethesda gave customers is map of cheap cloth, so they technically didn't lie about that.

P.S. I could be wrong about this so don't take it as a fact.

On another note, its been strongly implied that PC will get Hearthfire in a week and PS3 won't...

A lot of people, and the first guy responding to me just gave an answer as to what makes it difficult

I guess it kind of makes sense. Fixing things and giving code for stuff that's not there could create issue.

They should just come out and say they can't get Dawnguard to work on PS3,

Update 1.7 made the game even worse and uglier; I have encountered all sorts of crazy things besides low FPS; I've encountered low textured creatures from SKeevers to Dragons, Floating Objects, Water Textures going upward on land, people walking backwards.

If at the end they do end up getting to get Dawnguard running on PS3 I think it's going to be Operation Anchorage all over again
Yeah I have the same problem, but don't rely on them the patch or fix these things because they'll end up making it even more buggy than what it was and is now.

That's exactly what I did and how I felt, Beth don't care about what we think all they care about is what they get out of what they make, they basically let the PSN users down while XBOX & PC have their fun etc. We all sit around angry and upset at Beth but yet still no comment from them, but hey we all know what the next comment will be "we still have no further information".

Huge let down.

So I guess Arthmoor (the creator of the Unofficial Dawnguard Patch) and others are able to make something "too difficult" for Bethesda devs to make? Some modders?

Lots of ignorance out there..

I don't know... Right now I'm falling more and more in line with the idea that some members of the modding community are better than some of Bethesda's employees. I don't take that as a general rule or anything, but I don't think it's out of the question either.

The map was first said to be a leather bound map on top and fur coated on the back, it was supposed to be 80$ for the package yet when i paid for it, it was regular price. I guess they backed down from that. My friend made his own map, its sixy! If i get a screen of it ill upload. The post was in a magazine, quoting a dev. If i find it ill post that too.

I believe we ps3 users will never get these dlcs. I gave up months ago. Its sad but this beth were talking about, notorious for these issues.

My map is made of standard wallpaper.. dafuq?

That may be possible (especially the betatest team...which in all my honestly, I seriously don't know how they manage to do their ..&$%.. work SO pathetically bad). But one thing is that, and another very different is to say the game/DLC can't be fixed, which is totally false.

Alot of grudging. Obviously, Bethesda didn't test this through. It was never their intention to leave a platform out. I'm sure if they would have forseen the issues with The PS3, perhaps they would have delayed the DLC all around. I'm sure they thought they could get the issue fixed sooner. All the same- This Thread is pointless. Write a letter to your congressman, jot your complaints down in your journal (and/or diary) or talk to a therapist about it (if you deem your complaints worth expressing.) The majority of the criticisms I've seen are far from constructive, what's more- There's nothing in these threads that haven't been said already. I suppose the only purpose these threads have is to simply contain this wild fire of complaints. And no, I'm not meaning to 'rile' anyone up or 'troll,' because I realize this frustrated rant of mine is just a bit excessive, I'm simply making note of the redundancy of it all.
This is essentially a venting thread, and that's what people are doing. So in a sense it is constructive as it functions as a form of release for the tension building up inside the PS3 users.
if we didnt have a thread like this one, there would be 15 topics on the main board about this whole dlc bs beth has put us through, so we definitly need this thread.

Yeah, that pretty much explains it.

Fyrisi, I'm not remotely upset by your post (I don't really see a reason for a person to be, so don't worry about that), but I do disagree. It's important for us to be able to vent all this out because this is the feedback Bethesda is getting. Almost 5,000 posts about how angry people are regarding their work on the PS3, and the thread series has been alive and growing for weeks. That says something.

You'd think Bethesda would have patched that stupid water bug. But you still have to delete your game data, and reinstall the game. Then download the latest patch.

It's been more than three months since Dawnguard was available on the 360, that's over a quarter of a year! What's going on @ Bethesda Game Studious?? Do they really need more months to fix issues & improve performance for PS3's DG? This makes me quite disappointed as a fan of the series to be honest, I'll have to move on to other games and check back for news.... in a few weeks....

I gave up hope at the end of August. I've been checking about Dawnguard on this forum daily, but have been playing Dragon age origins and Dragon age 2 for the past month. WHY BETHESDA WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS TO US?????????
