PS3 Release for Dawnguard - Thread #23

Post » Sun Nov 18, 2012 1:35 pm

Everyone needs to be civil about this subject. While it's perfectly fine to have a negative opinion about the lack of a solid release date, there is a way to express yourself in a civil and mature way. We do not want to see immature hostile posts or personal insults against other forum members.

It has been http://www.bethblog.com/2012/08/02/dawnguard-ps3-update/ that the PS3 version will be delayed a bit as they are still working to ensure acceptable performance on the platform.

Gstaff, on 30 August 2012 - 06:52 PM, said:

Earlier in the month, we provided an update on Dawnguard's status for PS3.

It's been a few weeks, and we wanted to make sure everyone knows where we're at with Dawnguard. Skyrim is a massive and dynamic game that requires a lot of resources, and things get much more complex when you're talking about sizable content like Dawnguard. We have tried a number of things, but none of them solve the issue enough to make Dawnguard good for everyone. The PS3 is a powerful system, and we're working hard to deliver the content you guys want. Dawnguard is obviously not the only DLC we’ve been working on either, so the issues of adding content get even more complicated. This is not a problem we’re positive we can solve, but we are working together with Sony to try to bring you this content.

We wish we had a more definitive answer right now. We understand the frustration when the same content is not available on all platforms. When we have an update, we will certainly let you know. We deeply appreciate all the time and support you have given us, and we’ll keep doing our best to return that.

Thanks for the new thread.

I rolled a new character last night, trying a "legendary" build.

Sneak, Illusion, Archery, Conjuration, Alteration, Alchemy and Enchanting is what I'm thinking...not in that particular order though. Would love to be a Vampire with this build *nudgenudge*

Can't say that I'm surprised.
It's been a couple of years but I think Rockstar cited similar reasons why they wouldn't/couldn't port TBOGT/TLATD to the PS3. At least I recall a coworker linking me to an article discussing the RAM issues on the PS3 affecting DLC releases/development.

Xbox had an timed-exclusive deal for those two chapters of GTAIV, it had nothing to do with the PS3 itself. Hell, these two chapters weren't released for Windows until after the PS3 (by about 3 days).

Aren't the moderators supposed to be the ones who start the new "PS3 Dawnguard" threads?

Depends on the moderator.

If the Moderators feel a new initial message needs to be posted, they have the ability to edit the OP's message.

In short: It's not a big deal. Though the lack of adequate support and Add-On Content for the PS3 is.

Maybe, just maybe though they're creating our own section which means Dawnguard is finally coming to PS3!!! Doubt it though and I wouldn't get it anyways.

EDIT: made a remark on timeliness due to an error with timestamps on my end that made me think a greater amount of time elapsed than what really did.

Ahh, my "favorite" thread reborn! I'm crossing my fingers (but not holding my breath) that we will hear something substantial from Bethesda: hopefully good and not bad news, regarding the DG and HF DLC releases for PS3 by October 4th, the time the 30 day XBox 360 Exclusive for Hearthfire expires!

At this rate I've given up hope I doubt Dawnguard will even come out for PS3. I was really looking forward to it but oh well there are other games out there. One thing I don't understand if Dawnguard is being held back because it doesn't perform well for everyone why did Bethesda even release Skyrim on PS3? Even with the latest patch It clearly doesn't perform well for everyone so why release the game on PS3 to begin with?

I'd like Bethesda to announce that it won't be releasing, at least not for a year or so. It's pretty low of them to get everyones hopes up ya know? I was a PS3 player, and I've long given up. Traded in the game, best decision ever. And I didn't ever experience many bugs with it, just got tired of the... Don't know how to put the next sentence that comes to mind in a polite manner, so I won't at all. Believe it or not, I used to be one of the optimists.

I won't give up hope until Bethesda throws their hands up and officially announces that PS3 is not their "core competency" and have decided not to dedicate any more resources to the PS3 release of DG.

I have to admit though, Bethesda's lack of communication and lack of public relations with the PS3 user base regarding this issue absolutely blows and I really can't blame people for giving up like that as time moves forward and we continue getting little if any information regarding the DG and the HF release!

I've done close to the same thing with my new character as well. The build just screams vampire! In fact already have him to necromage. Now if only I could do something "new" with him. :stare:

You know, I wanted to call her a Necromage, but the fact that she is using sneak and archery as she primary means of attack makes me want to think of another name. Necrorogue would be cool, but sounds lame.

I haven't don't the thieves guild or the dark brotherhood for simple RP purposes. My Life and Death Mage (Restore/Destruct) had no interest in either, and neither did my Red Guard Master Craftsmen.

How about Necrocutioner!

I Liked both lines of quest. Prefered the Thieves guild over brotherhood in this game though. Brotherhood was way better in oblivion!

Back to the point though. Vamplords! Lets do it!

Well given the current trend. If we wait on Hearthfire.......we're good for a couple of months still

It will cause some conflict or another. The house's will cause lag issues with the memory they take up. Children will go hungry because we cant get in to feed them. etc etc

Yeah I know, I've moved on from skyrim, I have plenty of games to play, Dragon's Dogma being one of them, then Darksiders 2, AC3 and AC3 liberation when thier both released.

Hmm, I wonder what Bethesda would do if even 20% of the playstation customer base of bethesda all sent in their bethesda games. Hmm it would be interesting, now if only some anon would go and look at some emails about DG for the ps3 :D (I kid, hacking is bad, don't do it.)

Sony just needs to make Skyrim "mods" for the ps3 and release them on psn.

I personally find it hard to believe that a company of programing proffesionals are having so much problems with this DLC. I thought they new what they were doing. This will be the deciding factor if I spend any more money on Bethesda's products after this mess.
