PS3 Release for Dawnguard - Thread #23

Post » Sun Nov 18, 2012 5:50 am

I wonder if we'll get an update Tuesday since Hearthfire's one month exclusive is up on Thursday.

PS3 users? Very unlikely. The most recent update earlier this week said they were still working on it, but it didn't sound like they were anywhere close to finding a real solution.

PC users might get an update on their release date sometime early this week though.

Essentially all the updates have been the same, saying, we're working on it.

They don't say what they've overcome. They say progress was made. Does that mean the main problem is slightly less bad, or does that mean some minor problems were solved?

Something was said about anything on the PS3 earlier this week? What was it, "we're working on it"?

They should just come out and say they can't get Dawnguard to work on PS3,

Update 1.7 made the game even worse and uglier; I have encountered all sorts of crazy things besides low FPS; I've encountered low textured creatures from SKeevers to Dragons, Floating Objects, Water Textures going upward on land, people walking backwards.

If at the end they do end up getting to get Dawnguard running on PS3 I think it's going to be Operation Anchorage all over again

What happened with Operation Anchorage? I never did complete FO3.

To me it was a complete mess, the add on was completely unplayable, I got like 10 crashes, I could barely move I was literally playing the game at 9 FPS

Try it on a fresh game that was basically the deal with all the DLC it ran better from a new game then an old eighty hour file.

This is exactly why I want to get FONV's Ultimate Edition (that's what it's called, right?). I absolutely loved the game and got the first DLC, but it needed a lot of ironing out and the rest of the expansions were taking far too long, so I sold it over a year ago (I think) and plan on re-buying it soon ($35 for all of it is more than a fair price). I should probably do the same with Skyrim.

Not that I know of. I'm on the same boat as you, only checking once a month or so.

Alot of grudging. Obviously, Bethesda didn't test this through. It was never their intention to leave a platform out. I'm sure if they would have forseen the issues with The PS3, perhaps they would have delayed the DLC all around. I'm sure they thought they could get the issue fixed sooner. All the same- This Thread is pointless. Write a letter to your congressman, jot your complaints down in your journal (and/or diary) or talk to a therapist about it (if you deem your complaints worth expressing.) The majority of the criticisms I've seen are far from constructive, what's more- There's nothing in these threads that haven't been said already. I suppose the only purpose these threads have is to simply contain this wild fire of complaints. And no, I'm not meaning to 'rile' anyone up or 'troll,' because I realize this frustrated rant of mine is just a bit excessive, I'm simply making note of the redundancy of it all.

This is essentially a venting thread, and that's what people are doing. So in a sense it is constructive as it functions as a form of release for the tension building up inside the PS3 users.

if we didnt have a thread like this one, there would be 15 topics on the main board about this whole dlc bs beth has put us through, so we definitly need this thread.

CTD's pre-Dawnguard and 1.7 = 2 or 3 since Nov. 11.
CTD's post-Dawnguard and 1.7 = 20 or 30 in the extremely short time I played the DLC. And no, sadly I'm not exaggerating.

I still vote for Bethesda to do a "2 week intensive-exclusive development of a DECENT patch for Skyrim", and get it released, if 1.8 isn't that way already.

actually it is being released if you'd pay attention to blog updates Sony is having a team assist them they just don't want another problem that was similar to people spamming the tech support area with "my game does not work fix fix fix" and then starting flaming and vulgar posts as per last December, personally i think the new generation of gamers are spoiled rotten thinking 70$ entitles them to have whatever grand dillusions and whims made real, they said they're releasing it sit tight and stop complaining.
I was joking about that last sentence, i honestly don't want the DLC, I just feel bad for the people who do, the people who paid the same amount of money as you and I, for a product that doesn't even run properly, How are we being spoiled? Ps3 users have the right to complain, Todd Coward Released a broken game! I could care less about about the actual DLC, Its about the principle and I'm tired of Bethesda releasing broken games to ps3 users just to make extra money, if they cant make it work they shouldn't release any games for ps3, they should stop tricking people into paying for an inferior product

Don't be so cocky. Dawnguard may be broken, but it's still a decent DLC in terms of content and the quality of it (well, at least if you've only one character), and it certainly doesn't deserve such bitter commentaries.

That said, I'm really hoping for 1.8 to be a pretty big patch, at least in order to shut up the skepticals....although if it isn't, I'm afraid I'll lose faith in Bethesda patches forever, and ever...

Do you guys think Bethesda will release DG for full price without any sort of apology, because that would really be a slap in the face for people who have really wanted it and waited through all this BS to get a product that isn't even worth this much wait.

I don't need any apology. I'd be more than happy enough if from the next week (where the cursed 360 exclusivity dies once and for all), they release a decent patch for both Skyrim and Dawnguard, and some news about an epic third DLC.

Come to think of it, I think the odds of never receiving DG or HF, but receiving a large patch 1.8 and an 'epic' DLC are probably pretty good. Any epic-sized DLC would probably of necessity take place in a fast-travel accessed new area: without the object-strewn landscape of Syrim to contend with every load it would probably run SI-smooth.

Having now put myself in an optimistic mood I think I'll flee the thread.

...

Sorry to rain in your optimistic mood, but Dawnguard takes place mostly on separated worldspaces...and you see already the status of it in the PS3...
