PS3 Release for Dawnguard - Thread #28

Post » Sun Nov 18, 2012 4:25 pm

They're just pandering. If you want to believe them, fine, but don't be disappointed if nothing's released.

What would you say if Bethesda got all DLC out in a bundale for a discount and it was in fine working condition.
(Very unlikey but I just want to know what would people think if this were to happen)

Finally getting a lunch break, so apologies if this post is rushed.

True, but even so we come to the same reaction betraying that as bluster as well. If the kill cams and the mounted combat were truly viewed as promised DLC, why is the company still supposedly trying to get Dawnguard and Hearthfire on the PS3?

Took me five min of so of digging, but here are a few links covering the exclusivity of the first two DLCs to xbox 360

http://www.joystiq.com/2011/08/26/skyrim-dlc-packs-heading-to-xbox-360-first/

http://hexus.net/gaming/news/xbox-360/31558-skyrim-gets-xbox-360-timed-exclusive/

http://www.lazygamer.net/xbox-360/skyrim-dlc-hitting-360-first/

http://www.cinemablend.com/games/Elder-Scrolls-V-Skyrim-Have-Fewer-Larger-DLC-Packs-36800.html

http://www.wired.com/gamelife/2011/11/skyrim-dlc/

The article in the first link shows a snippet of an early press release about DLC for Skyrim. The last is coverage of a phone interview with Todd Howard conducted by Wired about DLC. Think its pretty well documented that the first two DLC packs for Skyrim were to be 30 day timed exclusives for xbox 360 at this point.

Now, you'll have to excuse me, as i didn't go find anything PS3 releases of DLC being scheduled to always be after DLC releases on the other two platforms, if at all. That i just took to be common knowledge at this point; seeing as how both 30 day '360 only' periods on Dawnguard and Hearthfire have been over some time now and the 2 DLC are both yet to make it to PS3.

Anywho, time to eat and take meds so i can get back to work.

They started using them as DLC examples after people started asking what happens if we don't get Dawnguard/Hearthfire/or the third. The patches may not have intended to be viewed as DLC, but they are now that we may not see anything.

They have never done anything like this, and they have continually said that there will be no discount. If for some reason, they go against everything they've done in the past, that's fine. But there's no evidence they will.

Also, we don't even know how well the DLC would work. A lot of their previous games have had serious issues when DLC is thrown into the mix. The PC and 360 are both experiencing a huge amount of glitches and bugs with dawnguard/hearthfire.

I'm no troll, by the way.

It might as well have been consider DLC because didn't we get all the add ons (patch 1.6) like two months after Xbox.

I know. But with the mainstream media now on Beths backs we might get DLC in working conditon and if no DLC well Beth can go into hiding cause they're afraid to face the music.

He would loose his job if he gave a wrong answer. He's only allowed to talk about what Bethesda wants him to talk about, so he has to be vague.

They can't say HF wasn't the second DLC because Xbox had it for 30 days. If they say it was an add on then I think PC gamers would be abit mad because they kept it from them for 30 days with no real reason to do that.

Good point. I just get wary when gstaff/Pete/mods start playing with words/asking us to "prove" things.

Don't expect specifics. I've gone back and forth with Pete and Matt several times (Pete mostly). No matter how the question is framed, or how specific the point of reference, it all goes back to "no updates at this time. Working on it. You'll know when we do."

I know I'm beating a dead horse here, but Bethesda is staring at legitimate legal consequences if they cannot get this product working. Anyone speaking on their behalf is being very carefully directed by Bethesda/Zenimax legal counsel.

I expected an announcement today. The Bethblog tweet has me thinking perhaps not. I do expect we'll have more information - one way or another - by the day's end.

https://twitter.com/gstaffinfection https://twitter.com/Bethblog "we're not sure this is a problem we can fix" from u, is that still accurate? I dont know if im ever getting dlc.

https://twitter.com/gstaffinfection https://twitter.com/Bethblog Not looking for a date...looking for progress. is it IF we get dlc OR When we get DLC? that is my concern.

https://twitter.com/gstaffinfection is it possible PS3 may never get DLC, or are we getting DLC...its just a matter of when? Thats what i want to know. :)

Its hard to ask a full question cuz i only get so much space. :)

HOPEFULLY HE CAN RESPOND TO ONE OF THOSE! :)

I pointed - via tweets to Pete and Matt - out that the lines of code referencing PS3 DLC in the 1.8 patch (beta) are definitely "something new", and would perhaps warrant a comment, seeing as not only these forums, but a good deal of the "gaming internet" is abuzz with these details. Normally, a PR team would be on top of that to clarify and address any speculation.

Not so much in this case, which only shows how thick this stone wall is.

Ah yes I see now. How long was it when the detials were found three days ago. I say four more days and it will be annouce the new DLC because that is what they did with DG someone found out about it in the patch files and a week later a DG was offical annouced.

If the DLC option is added to the menu, it may just be so we can turn on/off mounted combat and kill cams. They are DLC after all.

The DLC index doesn't allow you to turn off DLC, it just shows you what is installed... and it only shows the more major DLC.

- Perhaps "prove" is not the right term, but there is a definite - guided - theme behind many of Pete's tweets, one that shows they are trying to shape the legal landscape regarding this issue. For example, Pete's arguments that "no one buys games for DLC" (echoed by several mods), is a nod to warranty laws, and their limitations. "Patches are DLC" (and the implied "prove us otherwise") is another example. However informal Twitter and these forums may seem, Bethesda's words (via their reps) are calculated and directed.

- Please allow me until the end of the day to introduce anything regarding my anticipation of an impending announcement.

I for one would welcome the opportunity to turn off kill cams. So even that would be at least a little bit of a plus as far as I'm concerned.

MY FAITH HAS BEEN RESTORED!!!!!! I am getting excited...call it a gut feeling...but i believe an announcement is coming soon!!!

There is reason to be hopeful, but my advice would be to temper your excitement till something more concrete comes out. Yes, they said they are working on content for all their fans, but that's nothing new. They've been working on PS3 DLC for many months and just haven't got it to function yet, and the last main update they said they still weren't sure if they could make it work.

Stay hopeful but don't take all of their comments out of context to try and convince yourself that PS3 DLC is right around the corner. Let some kind of announcement actually come out first, because if they do have the DLC working they aren't going to keep it buried under the rug while they are getting criticized left and right.

Alrighty then.

Well some people would buy a game for the DLC because they want the full game and because say like Ubi made Altiar's memorys into DLC to buy off PSN and not in the full game of Revalations I for one would buy the game for the DLC alone cause I loved that character. I can even say some people would buy Oblvion for it's SI DLC because that's a game on it's own but I need Oblivion to play it. Sorry Hines but that's your opinon not fact.

If we consider mounted combat a DLC then Beth will be in trouble with MS because PC got it before everyone unless of course it's has to be bought DLC from Stream, PSN and Xbox Live.
